MU HA HA HA preorders are mostly out of stock! Thank goodness i did so MONTHS ahead! NOW TO SELL IT for 193248$$$ on ebay!!! (just kidding, how can one NOT get d3 CE?! ITS FUCKIN D3 MAN!!!! D3!!!!!! BEEN WAITING LIKE 10 YEARS)
Amazon just literally put them back in stock today. im sure they will be among the retailers that will have a hefty supply on launch. grab it now before they sell out.
Just got back since I left this morning after I posted this topic... I'm so happy and grinning from ear to ear.
I got to pre-order the Collector's Edition from a local store here in Anaheim, CA.
Now my brother's and I would be able to play all the time.
Sitting back and just counting the days off the next 2 months time until Diablo III is finally in my hands.
lol!
This will end up like every collectors edition with the exception of vanilla wow. It will "sell out" yet you will find it on the shelves a year after release in collectors edition form.
I did like the comment about how they numbered them this round, so hopefully it is actually one of the first "collectors editions" for any game in a long while instead of just a way to increase expenses by $3 per copy and make an extra $40.
That being said, I read the comment on the official forms about the person who said Gamestop told them it was sold out. The 8 local gamestops within 40 minutes of me said they were still accepting, and I called a few in my old stomping grounds of Chicago and even they have them. Aka...hype machine.

My friend works at the closest Gamestop to me. Diablo III CE isn't even in their system anymore, and they can't take pre-orders. He even let me see the screen :P.
This may sound silly but I can't preorder the CE until I get visual confirmation as to what the cosmetic stuff will actually look like on various characters/items.

Like 10 years? Funny how close you are to not exaggerating lol. I seriously can't wait, had mine pre-ordered months ago aswell. Not showing up on my gamestop account as a pre-order but I made him print me a receipt, don't trust teh gamestop!

It doesn't sound silly at all. It called being careful of what you're buying.
Well, the armor dyes and angel wings are all just aesthetics and on the link below you will see the contents of the Collector's Edition box of Diablo III and how the angel wings would look: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/services/collectors-edition/
Problem is, GameStop had reach their quota for the D3 CE. I'm not sure if since early today, Amazon had also reached their maximum quota. If so, then sounding silly or not wouldn't matter at all since you might have already run out of retail store that still sells the CE.
Like one guy said, I've been freakin waiting for the game to come out for 10 years... and now that it's here, there is no point of letting the opportunity to own the limited Collector's Edition pass by.
You always have the choice of getting the $59.99 game package instead.
Well I mean those are the wings on just one character, with a particular gearset. We don't get to see the animation of the wings, what they'd look like on a barbarian (for example), and how the dyes could make various gear sets look etc. Particularly I'm concerned about the wings. They seem more like girly extended shoulder pads than imperius/tyrael wings, they look like a spell straight out of world of warcraft instead of the immense tendrils they're supposed to be.

Edit. My fear is that they look too much like
and too little like
I'm pretty sure if you go to the battle.net site for diablo and look up their post about the CE you'll see a picture of the wings. They do indeed look angelic, and kind of look like the DH's ability.
Actually BestBuy and Target are still selling pre-orders for the CE. I bought two from BestBuy yesterday. You should probably decide quickly though if you want it or not before the opportunity passes you buy. The Wings and two custom Dyes really shouldn't be the deal breakers as to whether to buy it or not, the Artbook, DVD & Bluray and Soundtrack (along with the 4GB Soulstone flash drive) should be the real incentives imho.
Don't get me wrong, I think the Wings and Dyes are cool but there are enough people buying the CE that it won't be a huge deal since you will most likely see tons of people sporting those on day one lol.
If you want the CE you need to travel back in time. I knew it was going to sell quick and bought it the day after it was announced.
Walmart doesn't take preorders. That's been my plan all along. Install digital version, walk into Walmart at 11:45pm, walk out at 12:05am with CE, go home, put in key, playing by 12:15am (let me google map it... 1.6 mile drive).
I've seen that picture a hundred times, and I've been unable to take them seriously each and every time.
The aesthetic aspects are just a bonus for the CE package. You are really paying for the other physical goodies that comes with the game inside the CE box.
My only advice, make up your mind a.s.a.p. or else, time will come wherein if they run out of stocks and you decide that you really wanted it then, you'll be left feeling the lost and say: "I should have pre-ordered back then when they had announced it."
That sucks!

Good luck with that. Only problem with the process they have is that there is no guarantee that when you walk into Walmart at 11:45pm on May 14, that there is no long line outside of avid Diablo fanatics who are also eager to get their hands on the game; that people who arrived earlier before you, weren't able to buy up all the stocks for the CE; that Walmart got enough stock available to cater all the people who would be there for the in-store pick-up.
My brother and I, paid for the CE already from the local store, an 8-mile drive away from my house, which secures my right to the game whether I arrive early or late. We are guaranteed a copy whatever happens.
Also, I'm pretty sure the 2 armor dyes aren't a new special color. It's just a dark grey and pale white that never goes away when you use it. I'm not 100% and too lazy to check cuz I'm on my iPod touch, but if I remember correctly, the d3 website has the colors listed as one of the other colors. IE the bottled smoke is just the "rogue" color, but it's permanent. Which is cool, but I'd like a new special color. Hell maybe even make it have a special effect. Like smoke causing a slight smokey effect around your character or something. To differentiate CE from reg

But I'm interested on the CE (Collector's Edition) and all the goodies that comes with it... so how do you go about to get your hands on the CE?

My PvP build would be different from these 13.
