Wow, i can't believe all the hate this guy is getting...
You all defend a company, who was too cheap to pay for the amount of server capacity necesary for all of their paying customers to play their game. That fact alone justifies his refund in my eyes...
Bet the servers have been down <5% of the time. Most games that come out you can beat in 30-45 hours, and they cost $60. You play the game for 60+ and want a refund.....GTFO
Like I said earlier, you ate the whole bag and want your money back.

If he spend most of the 65 hours staring at Error 37 or 33, then sure - a refund would be in order. But I very much doubt that is the case. If not - then no. Just no.
Pretty much this. If he lived under a rock, and didn't know about the online only bit and returned it a day after he bought it, or it didn't work on his computer, or he returned it the day after he bought it on the basis that Blizzard F'd up the launch, I'd say that would maybe justify his refund. But after playing 65 hours, getting part way through Inferno (basically beating) and then deciding he was bored? No. He doesn't get a refund. A restaurant isn't going to give a refund after you eat the entire steak dinner. A car dealership isn't going to give a refund if you drive it 1000 miles.
You know what the sad part is? I think this is the third or fourth thread I've seen about how someone got a refund. And each and every one had the person at lvl 60 with at LEAST one character. And half of them had the nerve to say "at least this slightly redeems Blizzard in my eyes." Slightly? That should prove to you A) They're not in it just for the money and That they're actually a pretty awesome company.

I wish everyone whould stop bashing someone just because they didn't like the game and got a refund.

I wish everyone agreed with me and want's to further the spoiled nature that humanity seems to be evolving into.
Brb gona go eat a burrito then ask for a refund because it gave me gas, knowing full well when I bought the burrito it was going to give me gas but I did anyways because I ate burritos a lot here when I was a kid and can't think that maybe now because I am an adult maybe it's time to give up burritos and live a healthier life style. Couldn't be that, THE BURRITO COMPANY HAS CHANGED MAN.
You use the word Fanboy a little too much. All you do is make yourself look like an uneducated troll. There are 2 sides to every coin, one being fanboy and one being a hater. You really fit the hater.
Just because some one enjoys the game doesn't make them a fanboy, just because some one wants to call you out for the retard you are, doesn't make them a fanboy.
I'm sure once you get out of middle school and high school, you will understand a concept like this.
Coming from a guy that compares Buying D3 with buying a Burrito...hahaaha
Perfect rebuttle. Guess this is what I get for trying to debate with a 12 year old.

Good response, sure proved how a Burrito and D3 is connected to each other now, rofl.
Speaking of young age..
God this coming generation is pretty dense. I fear for this planets future. You think I'm trying to connect D3 and a Burrito? Your country's public school system should be ashamed.
Guy 1 - "These fanboys sure will infest forums all over when D3 is out"
Just some advice; Using the word "Fanboy" makes you sound like a moron that has no idea what you're talking about.
I love this game, D3.
The only other Blizzard game I've ever played was D2. Yet I get called a Blizzard fanboy by children like yourself often because I like D3.
Sooooo sick of these hipster wanna-be's posting on Diablo forums about how much they hate a game that they play all day long. Sadly, for whatever reason, it's cool among the younger folks to hate anything that is popular. At nearly 8 million strong, Diablo 3 is certainly popular.

It's called a metaphor. They are similar in that A) they are being purchased and the purchaser is then asking for a refund after consuming the item. The post also implies that the person should have known what they were getting, and are either entitled or trying to get something for free.

Oh god i hope he learn what a metaphor is when he get to middle school.
I think the only reasonable excuse is if you dont know ABSOLUTELY nothing about the game and you don't like the replay/farm style, but even if you play one time only for the history it is still worth 65 bucks.
I dont care about blizzard money, and I dont care about this guy money.
I'm discussing his attitude, and I still think geting the refund and posting on the forum scream: "LUK HOW SMARTAZZZ ME IS, ME PLAY DIS FO FRREEEE"
Children like yourself do not get stamped as a fanboy unless you portray yourself in such a way.
No one calls you a fan boy for just stating that you like a game.
Well...this "child" has a 13 year old daughter that's standing right here throwing pillows at me while I try to type. Apparently it's time to feed the damn thing again.....
Anywho, woefully, I have been called "fanboy" for defending Blizzard, in that I like the potential of this game to become a masterwork and I feel it's something I'm going to play for many many years.
Regardless of expectations of D3, of a feeling of disappointment, being a fanboy etc.
This guy played a game for 65 hours. And got a refund.
1) Props to Blizzard for doing this. It is a nice gesture from them.
2) This guy is a douche with no morals
It is one thing to buy a blender, find it doesn't perform as you expected to and return it. It is another to buy a blender, use the heck out of it and then return it because you don't need it anymore.
Nobody should get a refund after spending so much time playing it.
"What did you do all day every day this week?" "Play Diablo 3." "How did you like it?" "It fucking sucked!"
Haha this was hilarious. You got a refund congrats should have just gotten it free in the first place. Its a nice little game to enjoy while I wait for MOP to come out. In my experience the real reason 90% of the people who are complaining like this kid is because Inferno is too hard for them after playing D2 once LOD came out and the game was easy as piss. I vaguely remember lvling a character getting rushed through the game and then easily killing belial at the end without even realizing the fight was over.
I really don't have issue with someone wanting a refund after a few weeks (65+ hours) of play. The intention of a game like D3 is that it gets hundreds of hours of play over many years, and to understand whether or not you will enjoy it in this capacity, you would need to play it for at least 60ish hours to know for sure.
There is no basis for invoking a moral stand against what he did.

Good point. Next time I buy any game, I'll just claim I expected a lot more, and get a refund! That's a perfectly reasonable argument. I expected this steak to make me completely full! It only made me 50% full, I want my money back!
Most analogies are going to fail. The point of using an analogy is that it somehow relates to the subject.
An online RPG, purchased for a one time price (the same price as most offline console games), that can be played and re-played for years and years while being embellished and administered by the developer....is in no way relative to a steak, or a movie, or a car, or....or .....or....it is what it is.
In no way does 65 hours of gameplay "consume" half of the product that is D3.
When the servers are stable, that is when Blizzard draws the line.
That is the only line that matters.
Well you know, with people huffing and puffing that they're quitting or getting refunds and the like, it just means the rest of us that actually enjoy the game will have greater and greater server stability.
The moral line, I'll go ahead and draw at the reasonable price of entertainment.
Most people would pay $12 for a 2 hour movie, and even if it was a little below average, if you stayed, you payed for what you got.
So at the point where you've gotten tHours where t=$/6 of entertainment out of the game, you've given up the moral high ground to ask for a refund.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
I grew up gaming without internet forums. The entire phenomenon of being upset with a game developer makes no sense to me. No sense. I cannot imagine spending my time and energy being upset about something I choose to do for recreation.

You say years and years. Had he enjoyed the game for just one year (as opposed to many) and then called it quits, would he still be morally entitled to a refund? Had he quit after just 9 months, would he? Etc.
As already asked, where do you draw the line?
I'm not sure a clear line is to be drawn, aside from the 30 day return policy.

It's a computer game. What genre of game it is not important. While it is perfectly reasonable to expect hundreds of playable hours from a computer game, to DEMAND it (which is essentially what he is doing) is entitlement - and in my eyes, makes you seem like a spoiled individual. Buying an ARPG does not give the entitlement to demand years of entertainment. That you would even suggest such a thing....
I think Blizzard set the precedent for what would be an expected extrapolation of entertainment from their product. They sell Diablo games for their re-playability. They advertise it as appealing to long term fans. Kudos to them for allowing people enough time to truly test it.
Though I personally think the OP and many others that jumped the gun, will buy it again soon. I agree impatience was a problem for many players. Blizzard set a 30 day policy, not a X number of hours played policy. So fair is fair.....
