Should just lock these types of threads... You can't tell anyone the game is bad on a diablo fans website mk?
What I can't figure out is what someone who is admittedly through with Blizzard is doing on a fan site dedicated to a Blizzard game in the first place.
I don't know. Anyway, I hope they can reverse this, and fix the game to be about fun, not the RMAH.
You lost all credibility when you said this. You proved yourself to be stupid and ignorant in one fell swoop.
If you really think this game is "about the RMAH" then you really really are pretty stupid. Diablo 1 and 2 both had HUGE markets on ebay. D3 would be no different, as such Blizzard nipped it in the bud by adding it right into the game in order to both protect the community and make a little money. If you are dumb enough to see that as a bad thing you probably also have to actively think about breathing to do so.
take a minute and see if you can figure out what possible reason why. assuming the graph is accurate.
Your a game company, and your new game is losing player base FAST, this would bother you because __________

Well actually, I'd be pretty damn worried if my game's day one sales were much lower than expected, and I needed an enduring sales curve driven by positive word of mouth to make the game pay for itself... but I'd probably need to endure severe head-trauma before believing Blizzard was in that position.
How fast should a playerbase decline for a game with no subscription model, a story that can be finished by most people in under a week and a fairly repeitive endgame that only appeals to hardcore players?
... bugs and misfeatures were being found less often, letting me devote more resources to future projects?
LOL ok you made a good point, but this one was just a stretch, more bugs found because more players?
that being said il play devils advocate, Blizzard probably made back what they invested into diablo3 X10 over already if every single person playing diablo 3 quit today, and noone ever bought another copy, but its also about keeping the fanbase of blizzard, which is why they dont just pump out some crappy game after 5 months of developement, 50%+ of people would never buy a blizzard game again if their games COMPLETELY sucked now would they?
that being said 20% of the drop out rate will come back after they fix some things, people are complaining about this and that, and this and that will most likely get fixed in later patches ( i have faith ^_^)

Seriously?
I played D2 for years, and never had the feeling I needed to buy ANYTHING on ebay.
Don't teenage rant me. I'm just expressing my feeling which is shared by many: without the AH, you can't play the game entirely basically because of the loot system.
Actually, even better, if you NEVER bought anything from the AH, I'll bow to you, if you have, think again.

Btw, ask your mom to teach you manners.
For what it's worth he never said that you, personally, felt as if you needed to make eBay purchases.
He simply stated that there were huge markets on eBay for D1 & D2 (moreso D2 than D1) and that one of Blizzard's motives for the RMAH was to help protect its customers from scams and instead of letting commissions go to 3rd party websites they could collect the commissions themselves and use that money to bring the players more in the future.
I don't know about you, but as someone who sells items on the RMAH, I'm much happier that Blizzard is getting the commission than I would be about eBay. It's only going to help ensure that they have better hardware, that their employees get paid better, and that we ultimately have better products. My commissions going to eBay do nothing to further my experience with Blizzard products.

I would like to point out that I think SC2 was terrible and very sad I have to pay for it 3 times to see the story line. I think Blizzard isn't as great as they once were, but businesses, people, and targeted gaming demographics tend to change over 15 years. Still enjoying D3 and the first response post said it all, it's not an MMO people will stop playing. People have no simple understand of logic these days.
Okay then I think you're a child with no perspective on development costs or income whatsoever. Paying $60 then $40 nearly two yearls later isn't very much money if you, you know, have a job.
You want 300 hours of entertainment instead of 100 for $60. That's just spoiled.
I don't know. Anyway, I hope they can reverse this, and fix the game to be about fun, not the RMAH.

As I have stated in another post, in D2 you could clear the entirety of the game with the items you dropped for yourself because the entire game was stupidly easy. Anyone saying it wasn't either didn't play it or were just really really terrible at Diablo 2. Diablo 3 has stepped up the difficulty by leaps and bounds in comparison to D2. The closest thing in D3 you can compare to D2 hell is D3's nightmare difficulty and even then I think D2 was still easier. As to the loot system, it's the same system from D2 with the exception of legendary items having random properties.
And yes, I have both bought and sold on the AH, because I'm not a complete retard. I realize that it is a 100% viable way to get gear.
As to asking my mother about manners, I have plenty of manners, I am just sick of retards crying about needing to use the AH to get gear. The AH is as much a part of this game as anything else, get it through your thick skull and stop acting like a child about it.

Relax buddeh;
I have to chime in here, Phoul has a very strong point, D3 is WAY harder then D2, because, quite frankly, WE the Diablo 2 players, ASKED for that, directly, for YEARS.
Also, Trading was so clumsy in D2, that people often resorted to out of game resources for efficient trading (D2JSP was a trading site before a cash site), the GAH is quite frankly the most efficient form of trading possible.
And the RMAH, well, if you dont like it, dont use it, simple as that. (there are better items on the GAH anyways, gold will always retain a direct cash value, so people have no real need to avoid the GAH, and it shows.) The bottom line is, in EVERY Blizzard RPG game (Aka WoW, D2) there is a MASSIVE cash for items market, there has been for around a decade, this is a simple case of "if you cannot beat them, join them", I dont see a reason for them not to, this game is not "pay to win required", because I win at this game everyday, and it aint costing me a damn dime. ;p

Exactly this. I have over 150 bucks in my RMAH waiting to either get spent or be used. If I can use Diablo 3 to pay my WoW account of buy my MoP, fuck yeah. And if I happen to see an ungodly item on the RMAH I have the funds to get it. So its win win.
I have a friends who is disabled. He is paralyzed from the waste down due to a bad auto accident. He plays D3 more than anyone I know and guess what? Last week he deposited 2k in his paypal account. Yeah, RMAH is the devil for sure!
Whether RMAH exists or not people will buy and sell items. And just because the RMAH is there doesn't mean the game is pay to win, just means the average player can get paid for playing if they have a brain.

I think your opinion of me being a child from basing a price of a game as the only meaningful factor for successful measurement is shallow and poorly thought out at best. The whole waiting for two years for an additional story line that used to be provided in one game is a valuable complaint... Anyways I could have put a long quality rant about SC but I didn't really want to get off topic (you know a D3 site an all), sorry to disappoint you.
I agree that 100 hours out of a game is a worthy investment but I didn't get 100 hours out of it, hence the disappointment. My statment still applies I used to get hundreds to thousands of hours form blizzard games, I don't anymore Still Good games just not targted for my demographic.

You didn't get 100 hours of playtime out of SC2? What did you do, clear the single player campaign then never play online at all? If so you are voluntarily skipping most of the game, which is your own choice and not Blizzard fault. Maybe it is what you say, its simply not targeting your demographic.

I did multiplayer and found it lacking... Every game up until platinum is rush or be rushed. It gets old after the 12th time. I miss the old map setting mini games from SC1 (I was big into making maps) I didn't stick around to see if they added that feature into SC2 (they primarly focus on pure match making). The achivements in single player kept me going for a bit but not much of a challenge, except that damn arcade game

SC1 was the exact same, noobs get "rushed" because they dont know how to deal with it.
Starcraft has NEVER been a game about sitting in your base building up a massive army and mindlessly throwing it at your foe.
If you are not attacking/expanding/probing defenses in the first 5 minutes you are very much doing it wrong.
