Anyone else feels like the development of the game is gaining speed ?
Since Jay Wilson left the diablo team, we hear more of future updates, their appreciation of our suggestions/feedback.
Some blue poster even tells that the AH was one of the biggest mistake they've made and they are working on : loot less crap, more good gear, getting upgrade more frequently from your personal loot.
So what do you think of how the game is getting from their news update and Q/A from the devs ?
Some blue poster even tells that the AH was one of the biggest mistake they've made
Guess what: that person saying that was Jay Wilson.
I won't vote, because none of the options actually reflects the truth.
It doesn't make a difference. There were patches while Jay Wilson was on the team, there would be patches coming now if he was still on the team. And the game got better over the last 10 months, not just the last two months since he left. All this hatred towards Jay Wilson is stupid.
Oh alright, i didnt saw that it was jay wilson saying the AH was a mystake. But still that since he left, things seems to be moving much more.
I am not hating on jay wilson, he made great work for this game, he added his ideas with the team, they all worked together, but i still find that things are moving way more than before.
Or it might also be the fact they asked for people working on WoW and SC to help them out to bring new ideas.
Anything happening now was probably in the works when Jay was here. The only real difference I see might be more communication about design philosophy where previously that was more of a black box to us.

This. I still don't understand why people 'hated' him so much. My assumption is that people just felt like they needed someone to blame when Diablo was delivered in the state it was. He didn't ruin the game. I don't know a lot about what he does but from what I've read (correct me if I'm wrong) he was almost a message boy (if you want to call it that) between the production team and the higher ups.
I don't understand what you mean by "Since Jay Wilson left the Diablo team, we hear more of future updates, their appreciation of our suggestions/feedback" we were constantly being updated on future patches even before Jay left, as well as being told that they listen to our suggestions. They tell us multiple times before AND after Jay left how much they value our suggestions. Still people assume they don't listen to us and now that we're getting patches in the future that may or may not contain what we've been asking for we automatically assume that Jay Wilson was the big mean boss that didn't care about us.
I don't understand the internet.

Bashiok - Blizzard Representative - 08/01/2011 -"So how many skill combinations are there now? Well taking into account 6 active skills, all the rune combinations, and 3 passives we currently expect each class to have roughly 2,285,814,795,264 different build combinations."
"Hey, I thought you'd like the witty irony of grub-on-glowie violence!"
You can never EVER blame one person for anything, talking generally now nor one person can have so much rights and effect on others. It's the entire team who failed and if majority disagreed with Jay, I m pretty sure things would go different way.
Diablo is not just another game, it's the game which had soul, feeling, complete epicness when it comes to everything: combat, music, horror, items, modes, PvP, randomness and huge list to continue with.
Diablo 3 has really flawless combat system, solid graphics (could be much better), has some nice features but it's missing the biggest and the most important thing, gameplay.
I hope they will make D3 better and it's already going in that direction.
Cheers!
You cant blame Wilson for everything D3 turned out to be.
You can blame him for having the responsibility as the development teams leader though, and unfortunately not living up to it.
He was the guywho could say no (or yes), the guy to put out a vision for others to follow. Instead, from the outside, it seems like there were a lack of leadership and direction, leading to opposite design ideas (many of which were likely not Wilsons own) going back and forth, maybe even contradicting each other.
Anyway, it certainly does NOT feel like development is gaining speed. It actually seems to be going slower and slower - probably because they are throwing more developers at the expansion as time goes by.
Blizzard currently just talks more about what they want to do 12 months from now, rather than exclusively talking about things they want to do 2 hours from now.
Some people don't get my point, I am not hating Jay Wilson, he made great work leading this team. I'm just saying that since he left, we seems to be more in contact with the devs, o/c we had patch note and stuff, but we see more blues than before.
Is it the new ''leader'' of the team that wants the devs and blues to be more present or w/e.

That's okay, I'm not accusing you of hating him. We're just expressing our opinions on the topic

Not voting because your poll answers are leading. I don't hate him and I think a large number of his decisions were the right ones, but a lot of bad mistakes were made and in the end he's responsible for that. I don't know whether the game is better off without him or not, there's no way for us to know that. It was probably a PR move more than anything. I think the game has been on the right path since launch, and he should get credit for that as well.

Did we even had a patch after he left the team? It's hard to judge if the team is moving to a better direction when they barely made any changes since he's left.
Some blue poster even tells that the AH was one of the biggest mistake they've made and they are working on : loot less crap, more good gear, getting upgrade more frequently from your personal loot.
That "blue poster" was Jay Wilson himself. He didn't say "it was one of the biggest mistake they made", he said it impacts the feeling of rewarding loot and its usage was way of their prediction charts.
"loot less crap, more good gear, getting upgrade more frequently from your personal loot." - newsflash for those who apparently weren't around for the last 8-10 months: they've done this twice already, three times if you count the Legendary rework. Results: the only thing that changed was the baseline for how good an item is, and people are still complaining about the same thing. Conclusion: many players have no idea how to fix the game, otherwise those changes would've "fixed" it already. Probable solution: introduce a good system to recycle items out of the economy, like a controlled crafting system that can't make BiS items, but makes use of the "crap" items (instead of a simple "10 yellow derpies and 50k for a high-stats Bracer" system).
So what do you think of how the game is getting from their news update and Q/A from the devs ?
To me, that's all smoke and mirrors until they actually implement significant changes.
The previous patches all had great surprises. It seemed like the team was afk for a month, then they'd come up with a ton of small quality of life changes, bug fixes and new stuff. We didn't hear them talk about ubers for 3 months, they just did it and released it.
Yay for another Jay Wilson bashing thread where we can discuss all of our suspicions and none of the facts! I love speculating myself into hating a man I have never met!

Ease up guys. OP already said he just wanted a fair discussion. He just doesn't seem to have presented himself as balanced as he likely feels about the topic.

Understood. But you have to admit, the only fair discussion would be one with facts and I suspect that there is nobody here with a personal relationship with Jay to argue his perspective on what was going on behind closed doors during the development of the game. We have no idea what was in motion prior to his departure and therefore can only speculate. Arguments for or against somebody based on speculation can be more hurtful than helpful.
