My 4 accounts are banned, i used thie exploit for 2/3 hours. And i have a parma ban. Parma ban = Perm bans on players who tried a simple bug in the game is very extreme
But what is extreme 2/3 hours, i didn't have 10 amulets. Only testing for joke, never entered leader bords top 1000. And i did not tell anyone. Yeah 4 accounts.. but i am the user..
Maybe botting is better..wait i can not bot never WILL buy any Blizzard game.
Noone will miss ya mate It's morons like you that you that makes my day... "I did something that is not allowed and now i'm paying for it... brb need to bitch about it on the forums and hope someone cares"
To me they are all bugs tbh, I'm referring to them as exploits because of people like yourself who will be anal about the terming.
Anytime a game isn't working as intended, to me it's a bug in the game's design and the only party at fault are the game's developers.
I also don't care deeply about the video games I play, they are to me simply video games.
Some of you seem to care a little too much about your video games.
Now to keep integrity of the seasons, should cheaters be dealt with?
Yes absolutely, but there are better ways of doing this than simply running a random script on a mass playerpool and banning people that don't even fit your own criteria for perm ban.
This whole thing was about sending a message. Blizzard will not admit it outright. Using extreme measures to deal with an issue is either the result of frustration or to establish a foundation. I agree that it's an awful experience to suffer if you're one of the afflicted parties. However I can also see that they need a clear baseline from which they can say - "See that line? Don't cross that. Crossing it is a ban."
Every season seems to have its share of fun that people abuse. Ranging from mild to excessive. Next time there won't be the murky belief: "I'm going to get away with it because I only used it x times, or x hours". Finis rerum. No joking around from Blizzard.
Or... maybe this will be a Roger Goodell vs. Tom Brady event? Over responding to cheating that'll eventually be overturned? I do wonder how many accounts will be recovered after this.

This is last topic i visited before heading to bed. Even thou i havent read all of it, it filled my hearth with sinister joy. All exploiters and cheaters shall burn. More to come. Diablo free of this filth in the end. The more you QQ, the more i giggle. This will be a pleasant night indeed.

The schadenfreude in this thread is ridiculous. Vindictive comments from people condemning the people who used this exploit as if they had been personally victimised because of this. These people really need to reconsider their life position.
This is a video game. There are no tangible or monetary prizes for getting to high rankings.
I imagine the majority of people reveling with joy because of this weren't even in the top 1000. This ban, has no affect on your position on the ladder. The ladder is a made up novelty ranking system to stroke your epeen. If you care about these ranking that much - once again I seriously recommended you take a step back and reconsider your life.

Also, I would like to add to this: How exactly will impact your gameplay now that these users or Gaby were banned? Will you play better or longer? Will you have 1000+ paragon? Will you reach top 1000 now? Will you become a streamer now? Will you realize that while you are so happy about this banwave, outside of your home there is a real world full of real issues that are worth to be taken into consideration?
So your argument against the ban wave is that there are real world problems? Riiiigggght, blizz needs to stop this video game business nonsense and convert to a philanthropic organization dedicated to resolve these real world problems first.
This has to be the most ridiculous pro-cheating argument I've seen.
I'm very glad that these cheaters got banned, good riddance.
Yup, having all 17 passives in this game was not that game breaking for most classes.
Maybe if the passives in this game weren't so outdated with most passives in this game being completely garbage, this would not be the case.
Obviously if it was never getting patched, sure it "breaks" the game and everyone is a lot more "op"
A fix was coming this was apparent, most classes just gained EHP buffs and lacked damage to get much use out of that additional EHP.
For the meta which was 2x monk, 2x barb during that period and still is, all 17 passives being equipped on all 4 members would've at best given the group +1 or +2 rifts for speedfarming and maybe +2-3 for grift pushing at the time the exploit became common news.
For SOLO ranks, it probably gave certain classes a bit more +x on rifts than other classes but yes solo leaderboards even with inflated numbers would be non-issue deeper into the season.
Not sure how this is hard to understand?
Bloodshard exploit = 10x+ faster gearing at beginning of season with most powerful focused farming method.
Hellfire amulet = meaningless leaderboard ranks and a slightly elevated farm for short period.
lol, is it that hard to see the difference ffs.
Ok we'll just agree to disagree on which one is more beneficial to the cheater.
Again though, on your assertion that it's absurd that this time around he got banned where as before he was suspended is wrong on two fronts;
He exploited, plain and simple. It doesn't matter which exploit helped it out better, and secondly it was his second actual offense. No third chances. He got banned just like he should have been without a doubt, and yet I feel like the whole point of this entire thread you made was to somehow defend him for exploiting this time around. I guess I'm confused, are you saying he should have just been suspended, even though that's exactly what happened last season and look how that turned out? What's the actual point about this thread?
Im not banned, i just disagree with their decision especially since 3rd party gets ignored. Really enjoying chicken wd atm
I also disagree with their decision to ban users instead of taking away hellfires durabilty and reseting passives. It would of been much simplier
They just handled this thing really wrong since its their fault. With such an easy way to get another couples lvls after spending 50 keys on a good rift doesnt seem fair. Nrg is nrg they say, why is it so punishable by blizzard when it favors the player?
Its like these guys cry every time a boss dies then tells us "not to worry about ladders".
Detecting the use of Bots does not necessarily require scanning memory for 3rd party software. The application itself (D3) can simply include an anti bot game mechanic that is too complex for a bot to simulate/navigate successfully. This proposed anti-bot mechanic can itself use encrypted and randomised memory locations thus protecting itself from future efforts to reverse engineer and defeat it.
Honestly, if Blizzard had a will to stop botting in this game they probably would have done so long ago.
Perma ban seems extreme, but also you should have had a temp ban (perhaps until next season?) + season leaderboard records wiped. In any case I'm not sure what you expected, you made use of an exploit that unfairly gave you a considerable competitive advantage against others..
When some of these people banned are the kind who invest massive time into Diablo 3 (to find and be willing to exploit a bug for competitive gain, sure seems like you're pretty invested), Blizzard are likely to believe you will buy another copy. It's win win for Blizz, they make an example of cheaters to show they mean business, whilst also making money from all the banned players who will simply buy the game again.
How long to get you back to the same place gear wise? A week, probably.
conversation seems to go back to "bots are worse, they should be banned! not us exploiters!"
well, if they can do something about the HFA exploit or bloodshards, are you saying they shouldn't act on it because they haven't caught the bots yet? there's no justifying "trying" an exploit or bug - because you already know, if you have common sense, that it is a bug and unintended. Regardless if you use it to get grift records or not, you know it's a cheat, simple as that.
And please, stop justifying that extra passives aren't game breaking. if it wasn't game breaking or gave you an unfair advantage, why did you feel the need to "try" out the cheat in the first place?

Bots have a huge impact with main stat, thud is big as well, autocast makes it so you only need gear. 3rd party vs something blizzard put into the game?
After 40+ bad rifts only to get perdition as a boss (on a good one) may push ppl over the edge if they are trying to compete.
The top players cheat with 3rd party aps, yet blizzard goes after people who use the tools they were given in game. I dont like that.
It works both ways, what are they going to give me for breaking my chicken nuke? Nothing, its ok for them to have bugs, but use one that favors the player and they get pissy.

I never said I'm okay with them NOT banning bots or third party app users, my point here is we should NOT compare bots with exploiters and say "before banning exploiters, ban botters first!"
I am happy Blizzard started punishing people for using exploits (also it seems top clans knew about this probably from PTR already - I googled a bit and on some suspicious site it said they used that exploit since season begin - when it came out on reddit, it seems to many used it already).
Those that say they used it once, but never again (however, probably still had the passive on, as they didn't repair the HFA, put it back on and removed) should have informed themselves better how to make the effect go away.
Case-by-case basis and all the crying: "I used it once, but got permbanned". I'm sure there are many that really used it once and never again still got perma-banned. However, those that willingly tried the HFA exploit, probably also tried out the previous exploits when they became public (and got flagged by Blizz, so in theory that probably wasn't their first offense).
I didn't use any of the in-game exploits ever, but also was on the edge trying out the HFA one when it became public, since it looked like a fun and easy thing you can try out solo (for the BS exploit, you had to be 2 at least). Especially since hardest thing that happened was a rollback, besides nr. 5.
Besides one known ban (although every season there have been more banned, or at least removed from the leaderboards as I always went up few places after season ended) there haven't been "official" punishments on this level yet, so many people are actually really surprised.
I hope people will know think twice (or even 3 times) before trying out new exploits again...
TL;DR:
I'm sorry for those that tried it once and got perma ban, but happy Blizz started to punish harder.
'But he also did it' or 'he did it far more' is like the most used excuse by 8 year olds. Once you grow up you learn it doesnt work that way, except for half the people in this topic it seems.

Please consider the age of the people here. Even though this game is rated Mature (17+), I expect many players to have broken the law in this respect. Furthermore, 17 is still really young, and at least 4 years away from cerebral maturity (and with that, the ability to properly weigh risks).
Young people (and also some older people) are going to do stupid shit, and they're gonna rationalize it. This is what happened, and I'm glad that blizzard is finally taking a step in the right direction in terms of punishing stupid shit. Maybe the banned players will grow up a little because of it...
I'm sure mannercookie is quite a bit older then 17 considering his beard
ITT people assume it's easy to detect 3rd party software but aren't able to offer their solutions. If you think it's easy, write the software yourself and prove it, make some big $$.
Also ITT, people expect not to be banned for obviously abusing a bug. Lesson learned, if you want to "see" what an exploit can do, watch youtube vids or streamers who decide they want to roll the dice with their accounts.

"Schadenfreude ist die Beste Freude"
There is alot of truth to this, and it's very suitable and pleasant in this setting.
That alot of players feel of rejoice and happyness, over the misfortune of the ones caught exploiting is just a good sign.
About the bans, it's a small and slow step in the right direction.
Hopefully Blizzard picks up the pace with the banhammer for bots, huds and whatnots.
This has to be the most ridiculous pro-cheating argument I've seen.
