I was thinking about it today when reading about some inferno stats. Don't you think it would be awesome to have weapon throw a GENERATOR rather then a spender? Losing Dread Bomb would be shit but walking around and throwing hammers around really appeals to me D:
Actually, there is a way to make weapon throw into a fury generator.
if you take:
- Ricochet rune.
- Battle Rage 'Into the Fray' (chance to generate 15 fury on critical hits).
- No Escape (chance to generate 14 fury on critical hits).
Since you will be hitting 3 targets with ricochet it is likely that you will get at least 1 crit, so you will generate 29 fury for each cast of weapon throw provided you have 33% critical chance.
This is based on the assumptions that:
- It does not have an internal cooldown greater than your casting speed.
- The 'chance' is 100%, which is unlikely but if it is at least 40% or so, you should be able to reliably spam it.
- You are hitting 3 targets.
Here is a Ranged Barb build i made which is focused on spamming weapon throw and knockbacks to keep enemies away from you.
This build is also built around a high percent chance to crit and keeping wrath of the berserker up for a long time since you will be (hopefully) generating a lot of fury.
There is an item affix that reduces weapon throw fury cost by up to 5.
This in combination with Into the Fray and No Escape will allow you to spam WT unlimited number of times. You will generate so much fury that you don't need any primary and will need another Fury Dump.
We have seen multiple minor Weapon Throw damage nerfs the last patches. I think the reason for it is that it was just too good for doing inferno and they had to balance it a bit or else the Barb would have been the better Demon Hunter. So the nerfs are my hint that this is possible and WT build might even be valid in inferno.

We have 3. The rest are "boosters" we have on pretty long CD's. (15s +)
