All that talk about colors is great and all. But isn't the health globe on the left side of the screen, and resource globe on the right? What does the color even matter at that point?
let it that way, i won't be overlooking at that globe anyways, I'll be looking at monster blood. the tpic should be about the BLOOD COLOR which should change depending on the monster
Yellow= Insect
Red= Humanoid
Blue= Amphibian
Green= Undead (like ghouls and zombies, no sketleton)
Black= Liquid Creatures. (like swamp monsters)
Gray= BOSSES
WHITE= Angels. We must kill some Angels. (dark or light ones.)
id like a lighter blue and a more orange red just maybe to distinguish them from health and mana a little more. still i like the current colours so meh
I'm glad this issue was brought up, as I feel the same way that Sixen does about the Demon Hunter's resource color. I feel that the red/blue that the D3 artists chose is too generic and too close to the standard red/blue that signifies health and mana.
So instead of merely stating the colors that I think would be ideal like everyone else, I took the time and edited the Demon Hunter's resource globe in Photoshop to colors that I think would be more suitable. The two colors I chose aren't too far off from the ones that Blizzard chose, but I feel that they signify the Demon Hunter's character better.
My version:
Original:
Here is my reasoning behind the color choices:
1) For Hatred, I feel Blizzard chose the right color theme of red. But as I mentioned before, the red that they decided to use is just too "generic". I feel that the red has to have more relevance to the Demon Hunter, so I darkened up the default red to a sanguine red (the color of blood). Why? Because the Demon Hunter's hatred is directly linked to the lust he/she has for demon blood.
2) For Discipline, I also feel that Blizzard went with the right choice of a blue theme. But, I think the blue is too generic (the color of mana), like many other people have mentioned. I also saw that a lot of people mentioned green as a possible choice, but like Zarhym stated, green is too much reminiscent of green to be viable. So how did I resolve the issue? Turquoise! Halfway between green and blue. But furthermore, I think the color of turquoise has a deeper connection to peacefulness and serenity -- things that are implied by "discipline". Personally, when I think of turquoise, I think of the color of tropical water -- a very "zen" color.
3) Lastly, I feel the "burgundy-ish" red and the turquoise that I used contrast as well as the standard red/blue that Blizzard used.

All your mock ups of what it should be blow. All they do it hurt your eyes. Blizzard owned your faces (as did I on D3 community site) with their reason and you (traderjoes) can't argue about it. It's fucking science people. If you don't understand the eye and how this shit goes down don't bother talking about it.

Someone piss in your cereal today? What 'scientific' reasoning did Zarhym ever provide? Nowhere did I see Zarhym address colors such as turquoise or a sanguine red.
No one is going to take you seriously with an attitude like that doctorbowie. Better change your ways now or leave our forums.
Back to OP, I too am fine with the original colors or even what traderjoes suggested. What I thought they might address was the black bar in the middle. They should somehow change it because it does take away the 3-D effect of the globe a bit. I hope Blizzard changes it.

Trader's colors hurt my eyes LESS than Blizzard's colors... The darker red and blue don't hurt my eyes as much as the strong piercing pure red and pure blue.

Toying around with colours, I managed to whip up some real bad juju lol.
Seriously though, I'm not that bothered about hatred/discipline for the DH. But the blue mana for the WD just doesn't seem right. I'd much prefer something more entwined with voodoo, like some form of bubbling thick substance.
Bowie, I'm not seeing how anyone was "owned". If you're still trolling Trader, I'm on his side. True, the red and blue that Blizzard uses do contrast perfectly, but that means any form of those colors would contrast too, just not "perfectly" like the base colors. Trader's terquoise and blood are still based on blue and red, so they contrast well, but not AS WELL as the normal blue and red. On the contrary, Trader's colors fit the game better than the piercing blue and red that Blizzard chose. Terquois and Blood are very suitable to the game of Diablo. The only thing I would suggest to Trader is making the terquois a little darker, so that it compliments AND contrasts the blood.
