I'm gonna need to buy a new computer and since I'm not savvy enough to build my own i need some input on what specs to look for. The only problem is I'm not up-to-date on processors, video cards, and all the other important specs, so I'm looking for some advice as to what processor to look for, video card, memory, etc....Keep in mind the only computer game I'll be playing is probably Diablo 3, but I'd like it to run high quality and smoothly.
Thanks for any help!!
Okay, I'll probably end up getting a desktop.
Thanks!

your choices for a laptop are somewhat Limited unless you are willing to spend a lot of extra money, for a custom.
Pretty much any computer store has decent deals on Laps tops... I would go dual core at least... Just go to any major store that sells them, some computer geek can tell you everything you want to know.
You really can't get the same brute of a machine unless you go with a box as opposed to a laptop, or unless you want to spend needless amounts of cash!
I hope you are not planning to play d3 wireless because the average laptop these days only has a enough power for about 1 hour of use... it up to you, but if I were playing D3, I would certainly want to be on a box and not a top.
Nah i wouldn't play wireless, I'd play D3 at home hooked up to a router, but I want to be able to play it without the game bogging down (like my old comp used to in D2 when I killed bosses).
Plus I'm just not sure how much ram and crap I'll need...

it is tough to say as the system req for d3 are still in the dark. we all know that Blizz likes to make the sys req rather low though so who really knows...
In short, I just don't think laptops are suitable for high end computer games... but if you really want some decent info follow these links:
i'd atleast get the Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo Processor T6600 (2.2GHz), but if you're willing to spend more then get more, and if your not going to put heavy games on it then the 256mb would be fine but if you want to play d3 better off to be safe and get the 512mb, for games video card is more important than processor and for applications then processor is more important, and for ram 2gb will suffice
I wouldn't say that, because we don't know the sys req yet... Many high end laptops that are presently out should be able to run D3 just fine. (speculation)
I will say the laptops that require you to use the touch pad for your mouse, you might have a tough time, aside from that fact, you look like a female that is trying to get herself off.
(imagine what you look like trying to navigate around with your pad!!)
i think laptops suck unless used 100% for internet and microsoft word.
with any laptop released today you definitely are going to have an extremely hard time with diablo
I play lots of games on my laptop. Granted they're not the most sophisticated games out there in terms of graphics, but then again not all the best games have the best graphics either.
I played all of Fallout 1 and 2 on my laptop and I also will play Starcraft and Warcraft 3 on it too. Mm, Wing Commander games, Lands of Lore, all done on my laptop. Watching movies at work, done on my laptop.
secondly the 9800 is old stuff now... and 4 gigs in unnecessary. 2-4 is fine anything more is a waste... for right now at least
I agree about 2 gb of ram being completely enough for XP. Though it'll be a bit more responsive with 4gb. Shorter load times as well. Still, it's very cheap, especially if Legilimens buys oem.
9800GT sells lower than 8800GT since they're still keeping selling prices high for unsold products. They would lose money if they sold it cheaper (in my country at least),
Overclocks well, and if he has a ~22" lcd he's not going to notice a real difference between it and 4850/ 9800GTX+ . It's good value as well, on a G31 or P43 chipset with an E5200 it'll go nicely. If he overclocks, all the better. Value.
-on a side note:
It's hard to reccomend ANYTHING when you know it won't be worth it's weight a few years along the road. There's always something better around the corner.

The Barbarian is from Arreat, a very cold snowy mountain top, but they are much tougher than normal humans, so they don't need warmth.

Where are Barbarians originally from? Sumeria, or more specifically Mesopotamia, AKA Europe. Think the Alps and the Pyrenees
Epic quotes... all of them
