Yeah I gotta say, that's what made me pick a female monk right at the launch of D3.
That beard... yuck. Just, yuck. I guess it's personal preference, but hell, it doesn't even make sense.
You have to be a specific breed of Neo-Nazi to shave your head daily yet maintain a big scruffy gross-beard.
Just google images "monk". No beards right? D3 Monk is obviously an imposter.
How... How is there no "Drunken Master" skill then?
Edit:
Maybe I;m a bastard, but in my mind, "Russian Monk" is as self-contradictory term as "Lava Polar Bear". Or "Cuddly Terminator". My brain hurts...
Edit 2:
Besides, my female monk's swinging hips beats that scraggly beards 9/10 times.
I don't particularly like beards (I don't have one in RL, this counts right?). That said, I don't especially dislike an andy's on male monk... the beard seems to look sort of like a hood feature, half of the reason I chose it as a transmog.
I only want it hidden when wearing full helmets like Sunwuko and Raiment helms. Keep it when wearing spirit stones or crown type helms that don't cover the head/face.
Intersting. The first monk I made was female, but I recently leveled a male monk to 70 and called him "Leonidas". Because that's how I think he looks. I think he's one of the better looking characters (I mean, for Witch Doctors I kinda just wanna transmog the entire body into my Gargantuam or whatever, it's so damn ugly...)
How... How is there no "Drunken Master" skill then?

at least it would explain why the chars speak the 'r' in the russian way, at least in original english version. ("the storm brrreaks")
also, most names of D3 monks remind of russian names ending with -ov, -in etc. "monks of Ivgorod" "eye of Peshkov" , "Rospedin" etc.
other fact for you: if you know what a terrestrial globe is, you might take a look at it and recognizing that russia is the neighbour of Mongolia, China and some other asian countries
It's weird to use the 1000 storms set and at the end of the cool red mask you see black hair dangling from it...
At that note please add this option for barbs too!(although for them its less noticeable compared to monks)
It should be a checkbox option that will just change the model for male monks and barbs to be able to see or "hide" their beards whenever you want.

Remember monk is not only based on shaolin but also on russian culture. Considering that such a beard fits PERFECTLY.
buismor: why you even use original look of the ugliest helmet in entire game? Inis dye or transmog thats the way to go here.
BillyMancer: Google image "russian monk". Who is imposter now? In case you have any doubts about this whole russian stuff.

I do wish they did the Bear Dance on /dance.
So, I personally am fine with his beard.
