I cant believe i hadnt noticed it before but a few seconds ago i was pretty stunned.
In www.blizzard.com on the picture of BlizzCon we can see all 3 franchises. An orc for Warcraft, a protoss for Starcraft and not Diablo himself... Tyrael for Diablo... That I found extremely awkward since always Blizzard used the big D for such pictures.
I cant tell its something too important but i get the feeling that the franchise is taking a turn. That we wont be having just the demons to consider anymore.
well, i know that Warcraft isnt say Arthas, or Medivh, or anyone. Its a whole universe thats not fixed on anything. Same with Starcraft, its not just Raynor or Kerrigan.
But the difference is that Diablo always was fixed around... Diablo. The Prime Evil was always the center of attention when it came both to the game and the art about the franchise. I know that Tyrael (and the angels in general) was in the game for a long time, hey, in art too, but not to a level to be used to advertise the franchise called Diablo.
He has a point though. Before the WWI, there was a picture on the WoW homepage, or that's where I saw it at least. It displayed Arthas to the left, Kerrigan to the right, and Diablo in the middle. Three bad guys.
PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.
Supporting big shoulderpads and flashy armor since 2004.
perhaps i didnt consider Kerrigan as a "bad guy" because shes just the leader of the Zerg. I dont really consider a playable faction evil, may be my mistake. But it does make sense if you look at it that way.

They probably aren't going to show any new pictures of Diablo himself. I'm guessing he is the demon at the end of the Diablo III trailer, and if that's him, people may not recognize him right away in banners and posters and such.
like they said before, just because diablo is the name of the game does not mean he will be in it, but i hope he is. i want to mollywop him one last time.
well, what sounds more like the truth anyway, we'll know more once the game is out, or when Blizzard decides to say something (not that likely to happen).
There have been many good points in here already.
I hadnt identified the orc for Thrall and the protoss for Zeratul, so Tyrael behind would make sense as a trio of heroes from each franchise.
i think your trying to hard man. tyrael is on the front page of diablo 3...not that big on an issue.
i believe the 3 chars there will juts play a role in the storyline that affects it somehow....cuz zeratul for starcraft 2 was suppost to have witnessed the Xnala (been awhile since i played sc, dont know what its called or how to spell it) which is an ancient race long thought extinct to have come again and threaten life as we know it or something. dont play warcraft, so dunno about that orc...
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
(this build was before D3 launched... looking back on it now - i had no idea what i was doing)
So? They usually use the Queen of Blades for SC2 in those kind of things...I don't see the problem. You're looking way to much into a picture here buddy.
besides the OP's original post, its nice to wonder where D3 is going.
"And the heavens shall tremble" has intrigued me from the first time the D3 splash was appended to blizzard.com.

They could have chosen to display Arthas, Diablo and Overmind and what kind of a crappy picture would that be....
In fact Tyrael is just there because he makes the picture pretty. Not how his wings make up the entire background detail.

Thats what i found so odd
you miss the whole point.
apparently its what biff exploder thats closest to the truth, though.
I'm really hoping that he became corrupt after destroying the worldstone and you have to end up fighting him in the game at some point!
But yes I think they included Tyrael in the BlizzCon image because he will play a large role in the game somehow.

Also, i think Tyrial, angels and the heaven itself will have a greater importance at D3.
