Ima dude picking female demon hunter, zon was my favorite character in D2. I have no problem playing bitches in virtual games some of my best gaming moment have come by playing as bad bitches such as Samus, Chun-li, and my Afro_Bowazon. Never saw it as odd but im a comfortable dude.
Who is weirder, the guy that chooses to stare at his muscly barbarians rippling abs all day while playing or the guy that stares at the female demon hunters bouncing buttox.
You're all weirdos.
I'll probably play males though just because my most common used names are all male.
im a male and i will probably pick a female because i dont want to stare at a male character all day lol jk. it really depends for me on whichever looks better for example i dont like the look of the female monk, but i like the look of the male same goes for demon hunter i like the look of the female more but for the wizard which is what i think ill start with, i think both the models for this class look great.
It depends on the class for me in most games like RPG's I don't care much for the look, but more the animations. I always go for the one with the best looking animations since thats what i'm going to be looking at the entire game. (despite the old argument of "lol you guys stare at guys bums all day, gays!, given your not really looking at your character in a sexual manner, at least I hope not >.> )
So for example, the Male Demon Hunter IMO has a terrible walking animation, so i'll play female DH. The Female Barb however looks way too amazonian for my so i'll go male barb. The monk is pretty mutural imo both female and males are fine but ill likely go Female. The Wizard Female also, Witch Doctor will likely be male but the posture of the Witch Doctor is pretty meh all slouched over like that.
Male because I'm a male. It always creeps me out when a guy plays as a girl character. Makes me think that they're living out some f*cked up fantasy.
This times infinity. Hated it when men in my guild would play female WoW characters...seriously...
Haha I'm always weirded out by guys/girls that get freaked out by that It's a game, its not like by choosing a female character a guy is putting on a dress and heels and prancing around I pick both male and female for my characters in any game. Just depending on what I think fits better for the character in question.
Sounds like either a problem separating fantasy from reality, or some deep-seated discomfort with gender identity.
I don't have a problem, it just weirds me out. Maybe it's because I generally associate my characters with me and my personality, especially in RPG's where the character is defined by your choices.
I'm going outside of my norm and playing a male character in D3. I almost always play females because they are almost always more aesthetically pleasing than the male models.
They way I think about it, why would you want to look at a muscle bound dude all day when you could be looking at some hot chick. Much easier on the eyes. Straight men that play male characters kinda weird me out tbh.
That said, the male character models in D3 are really good looking, esp. Wizards/DH which will be my first character (probably).

This. If I'm going to waste days of my life staring at a screen, it is going to be at a woman.

you know why? because you know that you saw a female character, assumed it was a girl, and flirted with them..... only to find out it was a guy IRL. now youre starting to question youre sexuality, but you dont want others to know it. So now when you see a male playing a female character, it angers you. so you call it weird. you play it off as if theres something wrong with it and you start accusing THEM of things.
no, im joking. but seriously. nothing wrong with a dude playing a female character, or a female playing a male character. its a game and its not like someones cross dressing IRL. its just a game. on topic: im a male, and will play a female demon hunter first. as a side note, i plan to play each class as they were announced: Male barbarian, male with doctor, male monk, female wizard, and female demon hunter
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
(this build was before D3 launched... looking back on it now - i had no idea what i was doing)
I'm actually torn. BUT, I think I'll end up going male on all my toons (even my other set of 5 classes for HC) just because armor and weapons look better on them imo. I understand it's a design thing, but I just don't feel as badass playing a woman toon with size reduced armor, ya know?
I dont know why people always go back to the "I want to look at a womens body in game rather than a mans" argument. The whole point of an rpg game is in the initialism itself; role-playing game. The whole point is to believe that it is you playing the role of a hero saving the world/doing cool shit; not some arbitrary entity. You are supposed to play as an avatar of yourself, which makes the game much more fun and immersive. This is Diablo 3 bitch, not sandwhich-maker 3
I'll be playing the different classes as the proper gender in which they were introduced to us.
Barb: Male
WD: Male
Monk: Male
DH: Female
Wiz: Female
The only deviation of this may be with the monk simply because I like the female monk's voice with that accent. The male one is good too though so I'm probably just going to end up sticking with Male.

this i dont get seeing as how the difference between male and female chracters of each class are close to nothing at all.
ill be playing (in order of apperance)
Female monk
Male WD
Female DH
Male barb
i hate wizard type chars. but if i eventually try it in D3 i will play male
I will probably pick a male character. This is because I want to play the monk and I don't like the female skin/look that much.
How about you?

But that's just me.
Male Barb
Male Witch Doctor
Female Monk
Female Wizard
Female Demon Hunter
Simply because they have the better models.

Lol same here. Itll either be a male barb or male wizard( depending on the finalized skills and rune system).
