I have been watching some of the recent events and think that you might want to check over the sites moderators.
Now I have no beef with any of them. They haven't done anything bad to me, but with the recent bannings, post deleting and unjustified editing or posts, I think it may be in your best interest and that of the sites if you keep an eye on the moderators and possibly remove some of the "powers" allocated to them.
Not all of them, most are doing a good job and going about things the right way. It just seems that a few of them may be abusing that power.
Just expressing my opinion, I hope you'll take it into account.
If this thread is to invite discussion of what a mod does, it is against forum policy.
I will leave this thread open for now, as you might be trying to say something other than something along the lines of I hate moderator X, they closed my thread, they are a bad moderator, they shouldn't be a moderator anymore.

No Elfen I don't want to point any fingers or discuss what a moderator does.
I was simply suggesting that the administrators keep an eye on the moderator activity and re-assess whether or not some of the mods are abusing their power or going about things the right way.
I support this 100%. Im sure theres a few other around here who will vouch that something needs to be done. The way things are now is not acceptable. Certain mods around here need to be looked at, and something needs to be done about it. If nothing is done, things will only get worse. There is a small number of mods abusing their power, some more than others, and its about time those at the top acted.
No offense to anyone, but I've got to disagree with the above comments. Being a moderator myself - former Administrator - on another website, I can relate to what's going on here. Since it's almost impossible to convery perfectly over the internet what is meant by every rule / policy, forum rules have a tendency to be vague (or at least uncertain). Being a moderator or administrator requires a person to not only interpret those rules their own way, but to enforce those views on the other members. That's where everything can either be fine, or it can go to hell.
Seeing as how everyone feels differently about how the forum should be properly managed, there's bound to be decisions made by those with power that the other members wont agree with - just like there are decisions made by everyone else that other people don't like or agree with. The decision to post a racist comment, for example, or instigating a possible flame war. When a moderator reads a post and finds it - in their interpretation of the rules - to be against forum policy, then they have been given the power to do something about it.
This isn't a matter of moderators abusing their power, imo. This is about you all disagreeing with how they interpret the rules. Because your views are different, and they have a power you do not, it seems unjust and unfair. So... You get mad. It's understandable. Unfortunately, one of the things that really pisses people with power off - and trust me, I know this one from experience - is being told by everyone else that they are abusing that power, or that they're a dick, or that they've got it all wrong, or w/e. It just makes them want to do it more - because let's face it, they're human just like everyone else.
So I'm not going to claim to have the solution to this problem. In fact, the solution to the problem I was involved in myself was definitely not a graceful or good one, and I wish I could go back and change it. But I can't. And I'm sure whenever a moderator here does something that everyone else argues over, they wish they hadn't done it. But everyone's human, everyone does things that other people won't like, and the only reason you all feel like you need to do something about it is because some of these humans have the potential power to do something about it. Unfortunately, that's just how it is. Some mods you will agree with and love, others you will argue with and hate. Just let it be. Good and bad - at least in this case - is really in the eye of the beholder.
Good point Jetrall. But I kinda see my problems as valid (well of course I do, everyone would see their own as valid :D) and maybe others will too.
See, I understand the no flaming thing - more then others anyways. And I understand the flood/spam has to have something done with it. But they always move non-spam posts to spam... which annoys me, general discussion / OFF-TOPIC.
Secondly, if a post is flaming and nothing more delete ASAP. But if it's just a bit of flaming, with a well constructed post, then leave it.
Lastly, is I know a mod keeps editing swearwords and It's kinda dumb. I mean cmon, this is a site for an M rated game - this is the internet too. And I'm not talking about swearing at people, just in general. Not just "Fuck You" even "This sucks ass" or "this fucking sucks" etc. As for swearing at people - that's considered too much too much flame right there (Fuck You) not like Idiot. And if we're all a community we shouldn't all be calling each other shit. But we do...
I don't have many problems, and they're doing a fine job over those small things.
Mostly though I don't mind if they fully crack down of flaming, as the other two bother me the most. And I also understand other people have their own views on swearing. But always moving off-topic posts to spam is what I'm most pissed about. Off-topic isn't all about discussion, like there's the picture thread (which did cause good discussion but wasn't meant to). And THAT problem I have is more of a fact that it's ment for Off-topic - mainly because of the name

Problem is, seldom do they contain the constructive bit. seems like 90% of the time is only flame.

swearing can be used in a constructive or funny way, as it was presented in Demolition Man, Sylvester Stallone's character just saved a bunch of people from a burning building including what appears to b a 5 year old child, and the jack ass new reporter asks "you you just saved all these people from that inferno, how do you feel?" to which the little girl replies "Fuck you lady".
But here, swearing seems to be used derogatively. It always seems to be used in some variation of "nah nah fuck you fuck ball your not listening shut the fuck up". I don't want to have to read that, and I shouldn't have to. I've been to forums where you get a temp ban for even typing the word "fuck" you even got ban for typing FCUK, if you were trying to be sneaky, and were using it in place of "fuck". But if you were talking about the clothing company FCUK you were fine.
And as for the Off topic thing, that will depend on your definition of what off topic is.
I always figured it was referring to non-blizzard games, not abtract crazyness or randomness, Least that's how the section worked originally, when I was a newbie here back in Feb '06. It's gotten more random over the years, and while some thread are definitely better suited to spam, I will say some should stay in the general section.

Well I said to someone I would keep out of these from now on, but I have to say something.
Why don't we just all relax and ignore the moderating? I mean it's not messing up our forum, it's changing a couple posts, but this "bad" moderating is not really that big a deal. I mean I think we would be perfectly fine if we ignored it, just a thought.
Is this thread to complain about a mod in particular?
Cause if it is, I ask you this: Are we complaining about the person as a moderator? Or are we complaining about the person as a user/member?
Cause as a user/member, a person who is otherwise a mod is still subject to the scrutiny and discipline of other mods.
So if the mod was breaking the rules as a user, another mod should take the correct action for discipline. If the issues is with what a mod does as a mod, that mod should be PMd about their actions by the offended user.
I just want people to keep that in mind before they continue this discussion and I want to make sure that if someone does have a grievance, they attempted to take it up with that mod first via PM.
couple months back people wanted somthing done about not enough mods and not enough power/rules
The Tables seemed to have turned again
Cant win over everybody but do as Siaynoq has stated and PM the applicable mod or other mods if u feel u are being treated unfairly or u feel a mod did somthing we would not approve of
I've twisted the rules many times myself and have never been banned or punished. It is obvious that the mods here at Diablo3.com don't have a high temper or little tolerance towards breaking the rules. I have been warned a few times, showing that the mods are doing their job. I think that the way things are run is perfectly fine. Better than anywhere else I've been.

Off-topic is things that aren't on-topic. It's basically a forum that doesn't cover every other forum in the site does.

Pretty sure most of us know who this thread is pointing at.
Siaynoq, we are concerned about this person as a moderator, not a user. Because before this person was a moderator, nobody had a problem with them. Now that they have been granted admin priveleges, they have used them poorly and its causing alot of members, including many regulars, to be annoyed with this person. After talking to a few forum members outside the forums, it is clear to me that many share my opinion that this particular mod should not infact be a mod. They are causing grief to people, when all the other mods seem to be able to do their job without angering anybody, or pissing people off, or resorting to BANNING certain members. If every other mod here at d3.com can go about their duties in a way which does not bother users, why cant this mod do the same? Is it really that hard for them? Yes, we wanted more mods, and we got them, and we are happy with most of them. But before all these new mods we chosen, there was never an issue between any of the mods and users. Perhaps i might add the suggestion that there are others out there who would do a better job as a mod than the mod in question. If anyone would like to know feel free to pm me and ask. Not only will I nominate them but give you clear reasons why.
Just curious, how many people here have been members of other forums. I have been at several forums and everyone for the exception of one forum (this one) you got a warning for the use of any cuss word or any bit of flame. Or depending on the forum/mod you would be banned. Here at d3.com we are very lenient with rules. But several months ago me silver elfen carlos and a few others agreed that swearing was fine so long as it was NOT directed towards other people other than in a joking manner. This was agreed upon as a rule.
Several months ago we have an ironic talk about their not being nearly enough moderation. Their was complaints of of flamewars and people spamming bullshit beyond belief. Now the very mods that WE voted for are in question for doing what WE asked them to do. Ironicly now the argument spans from to much flame/spam to mods deleting spam and flame.
Now I strongly agree that no one should be punished for not agreeing with a mod, or a mod not agreeing with the persons views but when the disagreement turns into a flamefest or spreads to other threads then I belive actions should be taken. I hate to come onto these forums when this is going on, every thread I go into has some sort of flame taking place.
@Jarhead their was no issues because Elfen and Silver only moved threads merged posts and deleted spam. This was fine when we had 1,000 members but with more members came more opinions and with more opinions came more arguments. This is when we all decided more mods where needed to control the overwelming amounts of spam/flame. I for one love to come to the forums and not find spam bots everywhere. But I really do not like to see these flame threads.

Why do people keep saying, "you wanted moderators, now you're complaining that you have them". That's almost completely irrelevant. Everyone is appreciative that the forum is moderated now. This is about a specific mod aggravating its members. It's about a particular mod abusing powers. Not just MODERATING, but ABUSING POWERS. Disregarding mod policies when SHE pleases. Flaming members, jumping into threads she has no experience in and spamming nonsense. She's aggravating several members, and you need to do something about it.
