What else is left out of the spectrum of RPG gaming? Oh yeah, that's right, physical ranged DPS
It's coming, so for all of those doubters out there all I have to say is get used to the idea of not playing your heavily desired evil class and get ready for the return of the Zon.
well i think if they make a like range/archer class there going to have to find a way that there not slow or get boring because just sitting back there shooting arrows...>.>
I do not think the Barbarian as a master of arms. I see him as a master of survival. I see him using his strength to do damage and not his/her skill at using the weapon to kill.
Someone that is skilled in using the weapon can use it for defense as well as for knowing to kill someone with little effort or by using a quick precise attack to a vital location on the body.
A master of arms would also be highly skilled in combat tactics and would be highly disciplined. Barbarians on the other hand are not highly disciplined in military tactics and when fighting in groups I see them more fighting for themselves and not using formations like a well disciplined military unit.

On Strike and supporting Fallout 4 Mod Makers
Some fallout 4 mod makers have had their mods stolen and uploaded and downloaded on Bethesda's site for the Xbox One.
is this still a "5th class ISNT ranged" discussion, or have we realized they confirmed it basically is, and are continuing here? SO i can continue discussion, i dont fancy all them pages plz.

Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending.
It's hard to think about new stuff, gameplay wise. This is their biggest challenge and the reason why their are professionals.
I was wondering and i think a nice mechanic to a archer would be make your would skills a target for another skill. Ex: Theres skill that you throw a oil bomb that slow down enemies in it's radius. You can shot a fire arrow in your oil and make a huge blast.
There are other possibilities, like shooting a slow and large sphere of energy that cause minor damage to enemies, but when a arrow cross this sphere it becomes a super energined arrow and deliver huge damage.
Other possibilitie is a skill that works like a assassin's lightning trap. But when you put more then one in the same screen, a lightning appear in the lane betwen those 2 traps. This lightbing would strikes enemy that cross it.
There are alot of crazy things they can do with this last class. All the crazy things i imagine involve traps, devices, etc... Thats why i think the last class will be a rogue with knowlege in tinkery.
ahh ive been posting the same thing on all these posts.
it is going to be a Stalker.
no traps, there will be no waiting around in this game
no stealth, maybe some types of trickery but like i said no waiting around
no auras, the monk will receive auras
this class will have "sensing" abilities
this class will have some "nature" based moves
this class will possibly have a pet summon
and to the OP of course it will have melee moves, jeez we have 4 of the classes this crap is blatantly obvious.
it wont be screwed if something gets close, it will either use hand weapons or daggers (prolly daggers cuz of the monk)
It would be an epic mistake to not have the last class be a ranged character, that would be pissing on large number of fans. The outcry would be huge, Blizzard knows this, they'll likely make something like a ranger.
i didnt read all of the precious posts naturally (10 pages make a big read, i'd rather finish with the last book of the Sin War trilogy :P) but i'll make my point anyway.
first gameplay video we saw on release, they said that the drops were "planted". so no actual random drops from monsters were there. that mentioned, there was a short bow dropping and yet we never saw a character class released to use it. the Ranged archetype is still missing so it would all make sense if we had one that mainly uses ranged weapons to kill things (as we have the wizard that mainly uses ranged spells but has some melee range spells too - those magical weapons that kill masses infront of her are awesome).
now if you've read the Sin War Trilogy you'll notice a certain character that was a great hunter named Achilios. He used bows as a weapon of preferrence and a dagger for close range. add some traps to it and we might aswell have our 5th class.
your logic stops making much sense at the point where you expect all of the classes to be played the same way. where's the fun in that? i know it and i'm pretty sure Blizzard knows it too, that's why they make all classes be played in a well different way from each other. and since we got already 2 melee and 2 magic based classes, the fifth one should cover the one thing that's not
just my opinion, though, let's see if my logic is shot down at Blizzcon this year
I'm just wondering if it's a Paladin-type char or not. If I know Blizzard right, they love paladins over there! I bet half the Blizz crew plays a paladin, whether it be WoW or Diablo or any other game.
its not. they already said that the Monk is the holy class of Diablo 3, so i seriously doubt anything of that sort before an expansion.
I'd love to see a true ranged class as well! I can really visualize a nature magic wielding range class. I don't really foresee pets or nature summons, but fissures in the earth, stone based magic, root spells these sorts of things that really allow you to control the battlefield in a way that would be really beneficial for a ranged class. As some people have said in other threads, making thrown weapons like throwing axes and knives as well as the various gas potions a more viable aspect of the game intrigues me. Perhaps a speed advantage to thrown weapons over bow/crossbow weapons could be put into place. Bows should do superior dmg per shot, but take longer to reload, where as you can throw knives etc. at a much faster rate while supplementing these skills with the aforementioned nature spells.
My idea of a bard is a music player type of person... Could someone explain to me the bard you're all talking about?

Life is only another stage of death, in fearing death you can not live life to the fullest. Some of the world's greatest feats were accomplished by people not smart enough to know they were impossible.
-Can set up different types of traps such as fire/poison/ice/eletric/physical
-Use shots as charged-up/finishing skill for powerful abilities like headshot/multishot etc
-Can summon animals or enslave demons
Rangers and rogues are both very core archetypes. The stealthy hero is definitely a popular one. I think a Ranger or similar character is likely, a physical ranged character that uses bows or guns or some kind of projectile. It's the largest hole left in the roster. A ranger could and generally does have melee oriented skills. Just because they are bow-focused doesn't mean they will be useless in close quarters(see: Wizard). A physical ranged/melee hybrid would be something totally new for Diablo, and could be pretty interesting. A character that can quickly switch between the two would be pretty great.
As for the Rogue, I do remember hearing that the Barbarian is the only returning class,(the Monk was from Hellfire, which was created by Sierra. I don't think they count that.) so that is probably not an option.
I dunno for one, like many people; im almost positive that the 5th class will have a skill tree for projectile weapons
and honestly I'd be surprised if there wasn't a character specializing with a sort of sword and shield combo
so I imagine this 5th class could easily manage both, a sort of knight/archer i suppose
it doesnt seem to farfetched seeing how during the medieval-ish time that diablo 3's sanctuary is set in
knights of our history often would undergo training with a bow as well as sword
I believe as a citizen of england you had to learn to shoot a bow as a duty to your country so they could have every able archer out there during war
archery was kinda big during the time
so assuming this character lives in a caste in anyway like this he or she i imagine would of picked up both
and rounding out the third tree would be traps in my opinion
choosing the bow or sword and shield would spec you to either end of the range spectrum
and traps supplementing either spec
the classes so far do indeed seem to be following a sort of rainbow of ethnicity trend
we have a norse inspired barbarian, a witchdoctor hailing from some jungle environment i assume, a rather asian looking wizard, the monk apparently hails from the desert
so i imagine this would be ur generically stoic caucasian figure.
you could argue that the barbarian is white enough tho i guess the fifth class wud be repping the more civilized white folk
now they've mentioned that this was originally the first class they thought of and they feel its too generic and wanna spice it up a bit, and im afraid the knight/archer/trapper is pretty generic. my guess is they'll re-imagine the lore and background behind the character but keep these 3 skill trees.
Tank/Physical - Barbarian
Magic-Melee DPS - Monk
Support/Debuff - Witch Doctor
Magic DPS - Wizard

this is the fifth class, straight up.
