Ok, so you think a laptop is over the top? I can personally agree with you, but I see no reason to restrict other people from getting it if they want to. My personal opinion is to me irrelevant in how a person wants their computer to look.
Then there is the question of just fandom and plain madness. Slapping a 2$ sticker with your favorite game's logo on your computer case is fandom. Paying 2000$ extra for a product to have your favorite game's theme is madness. This is just my opinion, and If anyone still do want to buy the laptop, it's entirely up to them. I'm not going to stop them, even though I may think of them as insane.
I fail to see the problem with movies and additional games. The only thing you seem to have against it are the lack of lore, but that can't be it. Especially not since the upcoming Warcraft movie will expand upon already existing lore, and the other Warcraft games released after WoW also have expanded upon the Universe.
I know what I said didn't really make any sense. I wasn't really sure of what I wanted to say. . . shortly put: when forms of entertainment based on games stop being nothing more than money pumps and become the works of art they are supposed to be, I might change my attitude. Why novels are different is because they are written by one person. A real, truly good author will not care about money nor fame no matter what he writes about, and may still be able to create something great.

"So I like climb out the window and I fall because we’re on the third floor , but it’s cool, because I land where my arm used to be, but it’s not there so it doesn’t hurt. And I’m thinking, yeah, man, this no arm thing is kinda chill."
Firts of all, it's not a fact. Second of all, it's dirty talk, or sex talk, which is undesirable to be heard by the kids around here and a few other people who are more mature.
Any comments along the line "If you do this, you'll never get laid, loser" are not welcome. Those are stereotypical and, while they will probably not do so in this situation, they may cause needless flame. I hope you understand.
Meh, who cares, if they make a movie out of a game, if you don't like it, then don't watch it, is that simple. Is not like our opinion will matter, this peeps are usually making this stuff for the money, so you won't be able to stop them from ruining the franchise(maybe?). When greedy people are out for money no one can stop them lol.
Games should stay games. When the move past that, personally to me it just gets a little ridiculous. The merchandising pisses me off mostly.. I can deal with a few shirts and posters here and there... But sometimes it goes a little too far.

Some games that contain a good storyline should be turned into movies, for example i believe Gears Of War is in the works as a movie, though i don't think the rumor is a 100% solid but would be pretty sick if it was true!!!
they should stay as games, but from blizzards side, it makes complete sense to market elsewhere because people buy that crap. shirts, mugs, lap tops, w/e it is people will buy it and they will make money. this stuff happens daily in public companies.
yes they should stay as games -.- i work at barnes and noble and we sell the actionfigures, boardgames, manga, books, graphic novels.... ENOUGH ALREADY
Nice necro btw. Oh also, that notebook looks kick ass. Well, the horde one does, alliance one doesn't. But I'd just get it as a skin for the laptop, my luck I'd grow tired of WoW and be stuck with a shitty ass looking laptop while I play like Assassins Creed or something.
Games are games, you can like it and buy stuff for it and not be obsessed. Shit, I bought stuff for Maple Story and then dropped it like a bad habbit. Am I obsessed? Nah, hate that game. It's just a game, like all games.
And these people that whine about addiction, they need there heads checked. If you can get obsessed that easy, you got bigger problems. And if you whine about people being obessed, you need your head checked. Seriously, there problem, not yours, get over it.
Ehh, everyone needs to mind there own shit imo. You arn't a different person just because you enjoy a game. *Eye roll.*
(Sorry for the ramblings... Kinda went all over the board there...)
hmmm thouhg i can see games becomeing movies, laptops and some of the other crap is going a little far. But ultimatly if your dumb enough to go that far you deserve to be broke.
Games are simply games. To me personally they will never be anything more and I dont think they should be. But that makes the difference between a good gamer and a bad one. The good gamer knows that games are simply games and leaves life out of it. Look at a LOT of pro gamers, most just play for what???fun =]
I dont know much about a lot of pr gaming scenes ( i know madden has fanatics that are pros) but as for the wc3 pro scene, you have no idea how many pros i've heard just get up and quit because they wanted to focus on school or something that is actually life. They dont play 24/7 and let it get in the way of other things that are "more than games". I think this is key.
