My answer is no. I'll update this post when I feel like it later, and create a new post with my say (copy and paste...)
Share why you don't/do think it's bad, and give reasons.
Questions you guys can answer: Is it bad to swear even if you're alone and you stub your toe?
Is it bad to swear around a friend/relative even if they don't care/do it themselves?
(Only really applies to people who think swearing is bad) consider you hear a person swear and you think it's bad, and you tell him/her to not do that (please.) What if they ask you WHY it's bad? Excluding the whole respect thing, how would you answer? Because I seriously don't think you properly could.
There isn't much discussion without the whole respect thing, true, and I will make a thread about that later maybe. But this thread is to mainly prove to people how swearing isn't actually bad, only that people THINK it is. The point is to show people they can't give a reason why it is bad.

"Cards and flowers on your window, your friends all plead for you to stay,
sometimes beginnings aren't so simple, sometimes goodbye's the only way."
Swearing is bad in some situations. Like when you're at a funeral or something that's supposed to be respectful. Now I know someone going to be like they express your feelings, how is that disrepectful? well stop being a little rebel bitch and learn your manners. But other situations its fine.
So its a mixed veiw really for me. I mean you should just know when to not cuss.
WHY is it bad to swear at a funeral? Is it bad even if only your friend hears it and he doesn't care about swearwords?
I agree it's good to not swear in public if others can hear you, because some of it has to do with respect. But I mean, is it bad to say it to yourself or to a friend or relative that doesn't care/does it themself?

Swearing is stupid- people really only do it when 1) they don't have an intelligent argument or 2) they're just trying to degrade someone and make them feel like shit. But really only in those cases, although I personally don't do it often just because of how I was raised.
well thats kinda of changing the scenario a bit, i guess if you knew the person and only said it to them and to where others couldnt hear you then it would be ok. but i think you are catching my drift from my first comment.
Ahh, nevermind swearing AT others, I kinda ment to exclude that one too. Yes it's stupid, but it's just something I want to exclude because of course that's bad. It's rude and can hurt feelings. That will cause for less of a discussion and I wasn't really interested in that fact.
When they can't have an intelligent, I agree, mostly. What if it's an intelligent arguement and they DO swear?

yeah same here, as long as its kept respectable as swearing goes then its fine. Who defines how repectable it is in certain scenarios just depends from person to person. I know people who swear and dont even realize they are doing it. and its not even them expressing anything with them.

Stubbing your toe and curseing doesn't meet any of your criteria.

Very confused. Kinda seems irrelevant, unless you're asking why they did not answer my question about is swearing bad if you stub your toe. Two things if that's true:
1) I said it's a question people CAN answer, they do not have to,
2) I had edited that after his post, I am pretty sure.

i was raised not to swear, but i have since grade school. i would always go to my friend's house and we would watch southpark while his parents were gone. then when i got out of high school i became a framer(carpenter) for 16 months and EVERYONE swears all the time when you do that kind of work. after awhile the words just loose their meaning and you just swear for no reason all the time. actual quoes from work:
"go get the fuckin shit"
"ummm what shit?"
"the shit we need"
"umm well what shit do we need?"
"you know... the shit thats in the trailer..... the glue! go get the fucking glue!"
"well shit, why didn't you fucking say so... god damn..."
so we are just ignoring respect? just throwing it out the window? while we're at it lets try to justify murdering people. Respect cant be just shunned when it comes to cussing imo and its a legitament arguement.
But other than respect it goes back to calling people out of having back vocabulary i guess. It would be hard to explain why its bad without the topic of respect.
EDIT: comparing cussing to killing people is a bit drastic i just read my own post LOL but it gets the point across to some extent.
Over-used "profanity" annoys me (including, shit, fuck, or even words that are thought of less as swearing, like crap, darn.)
I gave a reason why I excluded respect from this discussion. I want reasons why swearing is bad/why people THINK swearing is bad. Saying because it's about respect doesn't tell me really why swearing is bad, but yet it gives me a reason not to do it around others.

If you cuss around someone who really thinks cussing is bad, cor their own reasons, and you do it around them it might make them mad, thus cussing around people who really hate cussing hurts their feelings which makes it bad in some cases, if you like it or not, it has alot to do with respect, which in turn in some cases makes it bad.
Dude... I know it has to do with respect. Do you not understand why I am excluding that yet?
When will you people ever learn.... Seriously. I'll stay calm in this thread even if Twilight continues to push the fact that we should be discussion respect, even though it's not his thread (nothing against you Twilight, but just read what I say please.)

Im not saying cussing is bad all the time, just in certain places and at certain times. But cussing around people who dont like it and/or at events that are supposed to be respectful is BAD. Maybe im just old-fashioned.
