I think what Blizzard will strive for is an "opt in" policy for their random adventures and side quests. It will be profitable to rescue the children because you get a nice reward but it won't be essential for playing the game and I don't think that the player will get penalised in any way for not participating if he/she does not want to.

I think that also Blizzard know that this is a diablo game not a WoW style game so I'm sure that the quests will not have the same mechanics as WoW.

I think the game will have somthing for the people who like to go: "BOOM chain lightning beats goul!" and the people who like to spend hours listening to all the dialouge and role playing (after all this is an action RPG).

I hope there will be a fast close quarters class similar to the assassin in D2.

I think we've had two "magic based" classes and only one melee class, so my best bet for the next class announced will be a ranged or another melee class

That would be really annoying though if you were interrupted by a mob while charging your uber spell.

They said that the Disintegrate spell would do more damage the longer you focused it on the mob. Also they said that they did not like the idea of charge up skills for the barbarian because it would not work for multiplayer well.

I think it might be cool to witness one of the D2 heroes being killed by a boss that you then have to fight. Before dying they give you an item and some lore on their past after the events of D2.

I think that you have to have some trust that blizzard are trying to do the right thing by their fans. Not every need can be satisfied. They must have put a lot of effort into the new battlenet system to make it easy for people to use. I don't think they would intentionally leave something out just because they could not be bothered to put it in. I think for any game there are pros and cons that affect some people more than others.

They could have said "ok this game is going to require a really high end machine because we feel the need to showcase some cool graphical techniques" That would have made the game pretty much out of my leuge but I would have tried hard to save for a new pc (despite the fact i owe the government tens of thousands of pounds in student loans) there are always people who are going to miss out, thats just life. I think Blizzard ususaly tries to make that as small a group as possible.

thEy said in an inerterview that they had char customizng but it ended up being pointless because the screen was so busy you really couldn't tell that you had a Mohawk or a tatoo. So they will most likely take it out.

But in the game play video you got to see you're char close up when you change his inventory. Also the barb's armour did not completely encase him so maybe there will be areas where you can see customization.

I hope they don't take it out as I love customizing characters. One of the biggest flaws with that system is facegen though. Like in Oblivion or Sims 3 where all the faces look kindof the same and just a bit rubbish (both amazing games, I just don't like the facegen)

    [2] Agree.

Really, wtf a child is doing in dungeon filled with undeads? And why is he alive? And why would you care to loose time and save a children when you're a key piece of a war that will decide the fate of everything you know?

I hope adventures involve important Diablo lore and are inside the context of the game, not kill wolves to getv 20 leatherto some old hag make coats to the children.

If your char is to high and mighty to spend time saving children then he does not deserve to fight in the war ;)

then they are geared for a party :) I don't see that as a problem... Like in the gameplay video when the barb encounters "Gluttony incarnate" and in the party encounters that siege beast of hell.

I hope that D3 will not have many so called "fetch and carry" quests where the only objective of the quest is to kill mobs and/or bring back something to the quest npc.

I hope that D3 quests will be far more involved and non linear, not just in what you can do during the quest, but what people ask you to do for the quest (like maybe be more vague about what they want you to do but when you travel to the area it becomes self explanatory).

It would also be cool if quests were different depending what class you played:

    - A wizard happens upon a npc summoner completing a ritual.

    - The Summoner drains mana from the wizard and uses that power to summon a mediocre deamon.

    - However if you were playing a barb the summoner would not be able to drain mana from the player and would be forced to sacrafice himself to summon a more powerful deamon but with no ability drain on the player.

Obviously the reward would be of the same quality for each but it would offer different challenges for different classes.

I think that there will be a few quests where when you've finished protecting someone they are killed anyway :o (by a boss who you then have to fight for loot and exp)

I think that would be in keeping with the Diablo horror vibe.

I really can't wait till the game comes out, I love the idea of random adventures but one concern is whether or not the adventures will be random every time you visit the area or weather or not it will stay the same adventure every time.

Example: You visit the adventure first time, you get a house guarded by a boss monster. Assuming you can revisit areas you go back a second time. Will the random adventure now be a treasure chest, some monsters or the same house with a boss (or will it just be a house with no boss because you already killed him earlier).

Has anyone given any thought as to how Blizzard will handle magic find in the new Diablo?

I wonder if it will be item based like D2 or whether there will be some kind of passive skill included in all classes (that would suck).

I only raise the issue because of the changes to the potion/health system that we have already seen may indicate that other systems could change as well due to the game having different mechanics from D2.

Where do I draw the line? I don't know, I'm not a parent. As for Vegas, he's free to put his kid in a plastic bubble from now until he's of legal age. It doesn't matter if you or I agree..that's what I'm telling you.

He's 12. You can't trust him to have the mentality of a mature 20 year old for example. I'm not talking about getting mentally destroyed..that's virtually impossible..I'm talking about getting one's self esteem lowered..it is possible. Actually, it's very possible.

Why play the game? Why not play the game? Me and around 200 other have been playing games like Blood, Diablo, Doom, and Quake since were 4 years old..we all grew up to be very normal, decent men. I think it's up to how you raise a child who is playing those games.

Getting your self esteem destroyed is not necessarily the end of the world but I agree that it should be avoided and most parents would say that they would not want it to happen ;)

I remember my first day of secondary school (age 11). This guy thought it would be a great idea to head butt me in the corridor outside of the classroom. That shattered my self confidence (and my nose)

I did recover from that episode but I think that incidents like that can be far more dammaging than online interactions.

"Rare" means that it still exists, and its a parental right for parents to not want their children around that rubbish, regardless of how common it is.

Of course it has always been the parental right to decide what is best for their child up to a point. I'm talking about risk. The risk of the child getting permanently damaged by a comment made on an MMO are fairly small I imagine, that choice of whether or not to let the child take that risk has always been with the parent, I do not dispute that. But one wonders whether it would also be deemed too risky to travel in a car or to play outside with other children as there are many more real and present dangers in those environments than there ever would be on an MMO. Where do you draw the line?

I can understand the parent not wanting the child to get upset, but to worry about permanent mental scaring seems a tad overdramatic in my oppinion. A far better choice I belive would be to try to give the child the self confidence to say "that dude just called me an idiot! What a moron!" and to give support to help them cope properly with similar issues that they will inevitably encounter in their lives. I think that if a child gets irreversably mentaly destroyed by a few harsh comments then there was probably a prexisting problem in their pshyce. of course if the child is very young then I agree it could be harmful but then they should not be playing the game in the first place :) (as said by many posts before this one).
