Jan 21, 2010snillum101 posted a message on Speculation: Will We Fight Angels in Diablo III?I remember that Tyrael said that many angels and mortals had died to protect the Pandemonium Fortress. I'd just like to believe that Heaven would not forget how mortals have helped them in the past.Posted in: News

It would make for some interesting bosses/monsters.Posted in: News

Nov 15, 2009snillum101 posted a message on Where Will Tar Pits Fit In?Speaking as a student of geology a tar pit can occur anywhere in any setting as it depends on the subterranean structure and not on the outside environment. So they could conceivably put one in any of the already announced acts.Posted in: News
Personally I think that aesthetically it would fit nicely in the desert setting. -

Apr 29, 2009snillum101 posted a message on How Long Is Too Long For Game Development?I think we're just going to have to accept that Blizzard is like what insurance companies call "acts of god"... You can't predict them, you can't control them and your usualy not insured against themPosted in: News
But one thing is for sure when one does happen it will be when we least expect it. -
Apr 28, 2009snillum101 posted a message on How Long Is Too Long For Game Development?I think also its easier for them to make WoW expansions because the framework is already there they just have to build on it. With D3 its like starting from scratch. But for the most part I agree with Airandius.Posted in: News

Apr 28, 2009snillum101 posted a message on How Long Is Too Long For Game Development?I think thats quite a harsh way of looking at it. Yes Blizzard wants to make a profit but at the same time I think the developers must have a little bit of care for the fans or they wouldn't spend so much efort in talking to us on the forums etc.Posted in: News
I find it hard to belive that the people who work on the game don't care about what the fan base thinks or how they're making us feel. The company as a whole may not care personaly but I think the individuals who make it must do in order to do such a great job. -
Apr 27, 2009snillum101 posted a message on Diablo 3 Difficulty LevelsI think what would make most sense would be to follow in the footsteps of D2 and make a game that can be completed with "reletive" ease on normal, but has options for harder levels of difficulty for people who want it. I dont think that just becuase some people want a harder difficulty level means the whole game has to be like that.Posted in: News
Also Blizzard has to market the game to a fairly wide audiance if they are to make a substantial profit. This means that they have to satisfy the fan base (us) and the person who buys the game in the shop because he likes the look of the logo. The sign of a good game is one that appeals to the wider "casual" gamer but still contains depth and quality (like D2). - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

I think that also Blizzard know that this is a diablo game not a WoW style game so I'm sure that the quests will not have the same mechanics as WoW.
I think the game will have somthing for the people who like to go: "BOOM chain lightning beats goul!" and the people who like to spend hours listening to all the dialouge and role playing (after all this is an action RPG).

I think we've had two "magic based" classes and only one melee class, so my best bet for the next class announced will be a ranged or another melee class

They said that the Disintegrate spell would do more damage the longer you focused it on the mob. Also they said that they did not like the idea of charge up skills for the barbarian because it would not work for multiplayer well.

They could have said "ok this game is going to require a really high end machine because we feel the need to showcase some cool graphical techniques" That would have made the game pretty much out of my leuge but I would have tried hard to save for a new pc (despite the fact i owe the government tens of thousands of pounds in student loans) there are always people who are going to miss out, thats just life. I think Blizzard ususaly tries to make that as small a group as possible.

But in the game play video you got to see you're char close up when you change his inventory. Also the barb's armour did not completely encase him so maybe there will be areas where you can see customization.
I hope they don't take it out as I love customizing characters. One of the biggest flaws with that system is facegen though. Like in Oblivion or Sims 3 where all the faces look kindof the same and just a bit rubbish (both amazing games, I just don't like the facegen)

If your char is to high and mighty to spend time saving children then he does not deserve to fight in the war

I hope that D3 quests will be far more involved and non linear, not just in what you can do during the quest, but what people ask you to do for the quest (like maybe be more vague about what they want you to do but when you travel to the area it becomes self explanatory).
It would also be cool if quests were different depending what class you played:
- A wizard happens upon a npc summoner completing a ritual.
- The Summoner drains mana from the wizard and uses that power to summon a mediocre deamon.
- However if you were playing a barb the summoner would not be able to drain mana from the player and would be forced to sacrafice himself to summon a more powerful deamon but with no ability drain on the player.
Obviously the reward would be of the same quality for each but it would offer different challenges for different classes.

I think that would be in keeping with the Diablo horror vibe.

Example: You visit the adventure first time, you get a house guarded by a boss monster. Assuming you can revisit areas you go back a second time. Will the random adventure now be a treasure chest, some monsters or the same house with a boss (or will it just be a house with no boss because you already killed him earlier).

I wonder if it will be item based like D2 or whether there will be some kind of passive skill included in all classes (that would suck).
I only raise the issue because of the changes to the potion/health system that we have already seen may indicate that other systems could change as well due to the game having different mechanics from D2.

Getting your self esteem destroyed is not necessarily the end of the world but I agree that it should be avoided and most parents would say that they would not want it to happen
I remember my first day of secondary school (age 11). This guy thought it would be a great idea to head butt me in the corridor outside of the classroom. That shattered my self confidence (and my nose)
I did recover from that episode but I think that incidents like that can be far more dammaging than online interactions.

Of course it has always been the parental right to decide what is best for their child up to a point. I'm talking about risk. The risk of the child getting permanently damaged by a comment made on an MMO are fairly small I imagine, that choice of whether or not to let the child take that risk has always been with the parent, I do not dispute that. But one wonders whether it would also be deemed too risky to travel in a car or to play outside with other children as there are many more real and present dangers in those environments than there ever would be on an MMO. Where do you draw the line?
I can understand the parent not wanting the child to get upset, but to worry about permanent mental scaring seems a tad overdramatic in my oppinion. A far better choice I belive would be to try to give the child the self confidence to say "that dude just called me an idiot! What a moron!" and to give support to help them cope properly with similar issues that they will inevitably encounter in their lives. I think that if a child gets irreversably mentaly destroyed by a few harsh comments then there was probably a prexisting problem in their pshyce. of course if the child is very young then I agree it could be harmful but then they should not be playing the game in the first place (as said by many posts before this one).
