Jan 6, 2013Are you farming for gear? Are you farming for paragon levels? Both? Do you "play" the auction house with your time?Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
Just curious. Since I'm only paragon 32, I have been on a magic find kick trying to maximize my drop rate at MP1.

Someone on IRC mentioned that $0.25 is the cheapest it can go, that it's a minimum. Is this correct?
Yes, $0.25/1M gold is the lowest battlenet will let it go. So if you're a buyer, nows the time to buy like crazy.
Jan 1, 2013CherubDown posted a message on Magic find does NOT count towards chests, barrels, vases, pots, and corpsesAs the topic title says, MF does not count towards chests, barrels, vases, pots or corpses. I've seen a lot of people saying otherwise, and I wanted to clear up the confusion.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
Official Blizzard Quote:
Magic Find will no longer be considered when looting objects in the environment such as chests, barrels, vases, pots, and corpses
Dec 29, 2012Thanks for the feedback everyone, but I still think I'm right on all accounts. If you disagree with some of them, give us YOUR Top 10 things you'd think would make the game better.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
Dec 28, 201210. Elite/Champion mobs can no longer roll more than 1 CC affix. These include:Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
8. Allow NV stacks to persist after quitting the game.
7. Remove all stat caps! This includes run speed, MF, GF, etc. This game is about making crazy builds and with these caps, players simply can't have fun with it.
6. Make purple (unique) mobs worthwhile. There are 1,000 ways to make these more exciting and worthwhile. Currently they're useless.
5. Make chests matter. MF should count toward them, and they need to drop more items.
4. Make bosses much more difficult and more RANDOM. They need to drop much better loot as well. What was wrong with D2 boss runs exactly???
3. Give us perks for playing with others! 'nuff said.
2. Make Drop Rates more predictable. It's okay that it's random, but every once in a while we need to be rewarded or people who have terrible luck have a reason to keep on playing! There are many ways to accomplish this under the hood.
1. Auto-generated worlds need to be FAR more randomly generated. There are FAR too many static areas that get sooooo boring to grind. Sad to see independent developers do a much better job at this.
Dec 28, 2012Blizzard says Team Deathmatch doesn't work because it gets old fast. For the sake of argument, let's assume that's true.Posted in: PvP Discussion
What ideas do you have for PvP that would replace this system?
Note: This is not a thread to argue about the news from yesterday - this thread is about solutions.

I was one of the lucky people that did play the pvp arena at Blizzcon 2011... It was fucking amazingly fun. WTF? Here's me having a shitton of fun:
Dec 23, 2012CherubDown posted a message on Rate your satisfaction level with the current Diablo 3.I've been a Diablo fanboy since forever, but D3 has a lot of major issues that the previous title didn't have (none of which I want to go into in this thread). I hate to say it but "It is a boring game but I still play in hope of it getting better in the future" pretty much reflects the way I feel about the game. I really do hope Blizzard can pull out some cool shit for the expansion that makes it far more interesting than the current game. By no means am I saying it's a bad game, hell, for the money it's probably one of if not the best games of the year, which is weird to say, but since I've spent over 400 hours playing my barb alone, I'm forced to say it's totally worth the money many times over.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion

Thanks for your support again, guys. I actually added the public games one yesterday because that feature means the most to me. Of course it'd be nice to have more social chat features... but I think a big part of Diablo 2's success was named games, 8 player max, and dueling. That way, the game becomes a hangout. You're always meeting people and that keeps you coming back. Who knows if they actually planned that or not, but back then, no one was complaining about Battle.net the way that we are now.
Putting aside itemization (or w/e other) issues with Diablo 3 that may exist, if your only public interaction is auto-matching quest runs, that puts a lot of pressure on the game itself to be endlessly entertaining, rather than people creating their own entertainment. It also seems to lead to "zero talk" runs. Games like Super Mario, Half-Life, or even mobile games like Tiny Wings, are games that you go nuts on for a while, and then stop. However, games like Diablo 2, Counter Strike, and Warcraft 3 keep you coming back because of the community (in the latter 2 cases, custom maps did it for me!).
The auction house has also had profound effects. I think it's very cool having one, but man, the one time (in D3) I had to do a real trade with someone made me realize how much I miss that interaction.
My conclusion is that all of these slick technologies and efficiencies have made the game so streamlined that it hampered the community/social aspect, and so the game didn't build as much culture around it, in the same way older Blizz games (including WoW) did. But these are just my opinions... maybe I'm becoming a cynical grumpy 24 year old lol.
I couldn't agree more. You took the words out of my mouth. +1

I could have sworn Jay Wilson said at Blizzcon '10 or '11 that you'd have to beat normal difficulty before starting a hardcore character. Not that it's not interesting seeing it, in-fact, in the game, just wondering.Posted in: News

- I'm not sure I understand why 5 has to be a dedicated potion button - if they'd left it to choice, that's where it would have ended up anyway.
- Removing the Mystic is probably for the best, there's already plenty of item customization systems (rare drops, sockets, etc).
- THANK GOD they're removing the need to pick up white items. It became really boring and monotonous.
- The stats change is WAY better. It's way more clear and consise. And I'm glad that Intelligence affects Wizard/WD damage. Thank you.

My colegue Molster quickly pointed this out when I first wrote this up. So I was inclined to put a question mark in the title. I figured that would clear up the intent of the short what was to be a blue quote with a twist.
Since D3 was originally slated for this year, and that Bllizzard is working really hard on getting everything in, and the nature of Blizzard Entertainment, it's not ridiculous for me to theorize the system could be scrapped.
I'd also say that Bashiok's quote wasnt perfectly clear either. What testers was he talking about? I took what I could from the quote and delivered what I think to be a reasonable conclusion.
All that, plus I'm in the middle of finals so I threw this all together very quickly. If the wording isn't perfect it's because I'm busy worrying about Computer Architecture and UNIX networking

On the Diablo III front, we are still targeting an early 2012 launch. We've been collecting great feedback from our ongoing beta test and BlizzCon, and the team is using that feedback to continue polishing and improving the game. We've also been testing the gold auction house functionality through the Beta and are gearing up to test the real mining systems very soon.
