posted a message on Bashiok's Plan on Revealing more Systems
If you were following around Bashiok's oh so mysterious post on Battle net, he said "I plan on revealing all systems in D3 before the beta"

Bashiok also said he knows specifically "when" and "how" hes going to post rest of the systems. There is "Latest Updates" on the right side, which contains all of their newly revealed system and dungeons, etc. Perhaps, Bashiok was talking about the main website? After all, they didn't update the website for a very long time for the sole reason of not wanting to give false information that could potentially change in the development.

But at this stage of development, if trading system and trait system is concrete. It might be a good time to reveal them on the website, seeing they are still aiming for a 2011 releaes (In the latest release). If thats the case, traits and trading system should be done by now.

What do you guys think? I personally don't think Blizzard will take these few systems that we already have in mind and reveal them on Blizzcon. It will delay the beta and won't meet their "Expected release date of 2011".

Hopefully we can see something like this...
    "System - Traits"
    "System - Trade"

posted a message on This Week's Poll: Will You PvP?
PvE is going to play a bigger role than D2 this time.
You'll have to devote more time to PvE since bosses are stronger, they are tougher and you probably will need to have a team to take down the boss.

    Assumption

1 hour of pve in D2 = 45 act boss kills
1 hour of pve in D3 = 3 act boss kills

so finding items in D3 will generally take longer since you won't be killing act bosses as fast as you did in D2.
Let's hope Blizzard did a good job with the act boss lewts. Something that will make us get excited everytime when the boss HP goes down to 1/100 in hope of finding one of the most epic lewt in the game that has 0.01% of dropping.

I'll probably PvE a lot, with good buddies of mine.

    Quote from Equinox

If you want to blame anything for the animations, models, etc., blame the animators and modelers and other artists. You don't need an "up to date" engine to make good graphics.
    You are wrong
Since they use Havok engine, they can't get realistic graphics that you can from Unreal engine.
The MAJOR reason why their game looks bland and flat on the screen is because of the engine.
Sure they can improve just a bit, but the whole framework is within the boundary restricted by the engine.

    Quote from Umpa

I'm fairly optimistic about their revealing of "systems" fairly randomly with no warning. They've revealed stuff on several occasions that were not linked to Blizzcon or any specific event. Therefore, I see no reason why we couldn't see an "systems" announcement soon that would get the Beta rolling.

but then again, they could very well not do that. But I hope they do.

I'm leaning towards the possibility that the remaining systems are announced as the final reward for the Facebook million "likes". That still leaves time for a beta starting in the summer.

You can't get 250k likes in 1 ~ 2 months, and I gurantee thats not the going to be the way they release the rest of the system since Bashiok said he has "Specific" idea of when and how to release them.
Facebook is definetly not going to be the case since you don't know when they'll get 1 million likes.
Perhaps releasing 2~3 Youtube videos or on their main website like they did for most of their work.

posted a message on Regarding ALL Artisans
I think you will only see your artisans just like how you'll only be able to see your own loots on the ground.
In the actual frame of the game, there can be 5 different loots in an area, but what YOU see is only 1.
The artisans will probably work the same otherwise, there is really no need for you to spend all the time and effort to level up when you can just call up your friend and say make a game.

posted a message on Conference Call Date Changed?
Bashiok always misleads people in many ways. When we heard "the game is technically complete" we were all freaking out as if beta was going to be announced before the conference call and such.

Now he said that we'll see newly implemented systems in Diablo 3 before the beta.... which is strange because we were expecting the beta to be around the corner...
Anyways, I wouldn't worry terribly too much about what Bashiok said.

Wow... They sure did a good job hiding it from me.
    It was almost invisible....

So can we expect to see these new "systems" on the youtube page before the beta? which is probably in a month?

posted a message on Why no Diablo 3 Official Youtube?
In my opinion, in the 21st century, the fastest way to advertise your product is through Youtube. Its arguable but more people are probably on computer than on TV at any given moment.

So I'm wondering why Blizzard isn't maintaining a well defined youtube channel, so new systems which havn't been released yet could be posted on youtube for the entire world to see. Why wait for Blizzcon? honestly, Blizzcon has been a downfall for the past few years. Less content each year and now their resorting to the information on "Beta"...
This is really the lowest it can get. I have now lost faith for the release of Beta in 2011.
Seeing that Diablo 3 doesn't upload video with new system that are in D3..... we'll prob never see BETA EVER AGAIN !

Just create a youtube. Record the footage and commentate on it.
Just like those guys did in Treyarch. Did a fantastic job creating hype. although there were some false information...
Customizing is prob the worst part of Cod black ops, I thought I could choose my own clothing and such but they are a set. Well. that was part of their marketing strategy i guess.

So, why doesnt blizzard have a youtube channel for D3?

In my opinion graphics is just as important as the actual game play.
There have been few improvements in 3D which is not much but they added more depth to the shadow effect.
We'll have to see how realistic the game gets, but as of now, its very cartoonish. Just like TF2.

posted a message on What will the beta BE?
    Quote from Kblavkalash

That's a Bashiok quote, he just said on b.net forums:

You've actually seen some of the first three Acts already, and we probably won't be revealing too much more than what we've already shown. We really want to try to keep as much a surprise for you when you play through the game the first time as possible. We will be announcing all of the game systems though before beta, so there are a few things left as far as reveals go. While beta will obviously be a lot of fun, should you get the chance to get in and help test, it'll only be a small part of the whole game. Some people want to know everything, but we're really trying to preserve the surprise and wonderment (that we hope will come with exploring Diablo III) as much as possible.

So I think one act is going to be at most according to what he said, probably even less.

As I've said, this is quite a no brainer. We're only going to get those dungeons we've seen for the past 3 years through screenshot and videos. (The ones from Gstar, and not the one from Blizzcon 2010, which was the dessert)
And most of it will be PvP, if the beta were to proceed for more than 3 months.

man, i reallly wwant to get into this beta. then again so many others do as well...

Be ready to hear things like "We'll be talking more about beta in the upcoming Blizzcon 2011" in the May conference call.
I'm not saying it will happen, but there is a possibility. But realistically, even if they announce the Beta in Blizzcon, they are only going to get booed. Remember what they said? "we're giving out 1000 beta keys".....
Yea exactly, this isn't that big of a news, and plus blizzard is not going to get the credit for it.
Its already been to long, and the last thing we want is the beta going over 2012..

    Quote from Kblavkalash

So according to you PvP balance is very hard because there extremelly huge amount of skill combinations, etc, but in PvE it's not?

It's same thing for PvE - there are TONs of different skill/rune/trait combinations and it should be balanced in all different modes (N,BM,Hell) with different equipment. Do you honestly think this can be balanced with 20 people playing? LOL

A lot of skills are very different and pure math is not enough to balance everything. Imo PvE balance is very difficult, blizzard wants all characters to be viable but no overpowered.

PvP on the other hand is hard to balance but blizzard understands that and they said numerous times that they don't aim for perfect balance because they want players to find stronger skill combos and use them in PvP. But that's not the case in PvE - they want as much skills being viable in PvE as possible, after all most of players going to play PvE.

You make it sound like PvE is easy to balance while it's very hard imo.

This is going to be my last post because I have a feeling you are just clueless.

    1) Jay Wilson said PvP will not be the main focus, but he did not say he doesn't work as hard as he can to achieve the closest he can.

    2) You treat as if Diablo 3 PvE is different from any other PvE in other RPG games. It's something that Game developers strive to balance without the "Beta". The balancing factor is taken into consideration into the 5 year that it took them to make Diablo 3.

    4) You think Blizzard puts in skills, runes into the game and expect us to balance it completely out of the blue?
You must be kidding me. As much as I dont like the number of iterations they go through, when the final product is pretty much balanced. The skill design is built from ground up, making it good and bad in other situations. What we need to find is the "strategy" that completely destroys other characters or teams.
The skills are designed for PvE initially, as you said. So PvE won't have much of a problem. They need to test it for PvP

    5) PvP is harder to balance than PvE because there are so many strategies to consider. The notion of testing PvE is absurd. You cannot simply test their PvE because you would have to play the entire story and come across entire act 1 ~ act 4 monsters, unique bosses, final monsters. This is what 20+ beta testers spend their time the most.
Not many games that have great PvE system hold betas. Why would they? It's their job as a game developer to release a polished and well balanced game.

    Quote from FingolfinGR

It's not as simple as that, Zergy. You see, with Diablo II it was very well the case. In Hell difficulty the monsters/bosses just had increased damage and hit points. All the player had to do was get some damage reduction gear, increase his damage and spam potions. Yeah, spam potions won't work anymore :P

Now the game will have a "somewhat" more tactical approach to combat. Bosses will be different than they used to be aswell. The difference between someone who plays solo and a party of 2, 3 or 4 is huge. Make the bosses too powerful when more people are in the game and they're broken. Make them too easy and they're not fun.

Do you really think "Blizzard"... we're talking about Blizzard needs us to balance Boss fights?
Really? I'm starting to wonder you are talking about some High school project.

It just bothers me so much why you can't see the obvious. Blizzard is not going to spoil any story or any boss.
The most you can see is the dungeon that we've seen for the past 3 years, with screen shots.
They'll prob add it just for fun, not neccesarily for balancing. As I said, if you wanna balance PvE, which blizzard doesnt need us for. you would have to play the entire act 1 ~ act 4 since fixing act 1 doesnt gurantee a fix in act 4.
It is already fixed... dont worry about PvE. Just worry about PvP match up having imbalanced strategy or PvE skill being overpowered in PvP. They need to find the balance where PvE skill wont do too much damage to Pvp

    @zerg4hire

I have no doubt there will be PvP in beta and blizzard cares about that but they simply care more about PvE. PvP testing is very simple - if they allow PvP in beta then huge amount of players simply gonna play that, but the problem comes how to test PvE?

I think one of the hardest things to balance is hell mode end game and I think they really want that to be balanced, but that at the same time is hard to test without sploiling much.

Actually PvE is the most easiest to balance. Note that Blizzard hired game testers and that is enough for PvE.
PvE is about scaling, if something does too much damage to players, then simply scale it down. This can be fixed with 20+ players playing the game for ..... like 1 year now? I am 90% sure PvE is balanced to tip top shape. There are no variations to what you can do in PvE, It's simply damage output vs damage taken. Find the balance between the two.

However, PvE is completely different. There are just too many variations that affect the overall balance. Hence, it takes the longest. If I was Jay Wilson, I would devote all 6 months into PvP, giving players entire array of runes.
Sort of like the small demo they had at the blizzcon 2010 where people were able to play 3 vs 3.

In my own opinion, the concept of balancing "PvE" is very stupid to say the least. Are you asking blizzard to let you fight every single monsters in Diablo 3? What is the point?
Damage output scaling is something blizzard is expert at doing, they don't need our help with PvE aspect as much as they need for PvP.

God knows what will happen when we get 2 patches every day just to fix the most broken PvP system known to human kind upon release of Diablo 3.
I would assume PvP is probably the most complicate system in D3 with so much variation that could take place.
