posted a message on Why Beta will be out before Blizzcon
Are you crossing your fingers that Diablo 3 beta will be out shortly after the May 5th Conference call?

I have this bad feeling that Jay Wilson with his development team is going to announce the "Beta date" in Blizzcon.
As much as I'd hope Jay is smarter than that, here are few reasons why BETA must come out before blizzcon.

    1) Beta is not big of a deal to announce in the yearly held world convention, Blizzcon 2011.
    - Unless they are giving a free beta keys to every attendee, don't create hype for no reason.
    - Blizzard is too smart to treat everyone like children and say "here is a candy for you !" and give out only one.
    - They learned not to play with the crowd, remember when they said they'll give out 1000 beta keys?
The amount of Booing echoed the entire convention centre. We don't want beta in Blizzcon for christ sakes. The chances of us getting in are slim. We want faster release date.

    2) Blizzcon 2011 should have a final version of Diablo 3, in which, they could give more specific answer to many questions. Not just "We dont know yet, we're not done yet, we can't talk about that yet, we're undecided"
The only way to do it is push it to the limit. Just like throwing your kid in the swimming pool, without learning how to swim. This may kill your child, but the moral is you'll learn it faster and naturally.

Hold the beta, and fix it, and have the finalized version at Blizzcon 2011.

This is going to be 6 months going to waste, if they decide for whatever stupid reason to release beta in Blizzcon. I mean really, theres only 30,000 people in there and over 10 million people are awaiting to buy this game. Go for the majority, which want the game asap... They can hold 3v3 PvP tournaments at 2011 blizcon if they release the beta.
    More exciting things can happen.

    Quote from Kblavkalash

Considering beta is going to be ~6 month and PvP is not going to be the main focus I would say 2 acts should probably be for sure. But that again limits to test nightmare and hell modes, which are very important. Blizzard even said that in D2 hell wasn't really balanced so I think they want to balance everything here.

Even if they are going to show full content of the game I wonder how many buyers are going to be spoiled. Beta testers is small part of all buyers and again only a comparable small part is going to watch vods/streams so overall I think it would be like ~<10% of gamers gonna be spoiled - not that much.

I simply disagree. You can't expect Blizzard to release the actual quests in Diablo 3 for the beta.
What they are doing is, testing the functionality of each system that require 10000+ players to actually test if it works. Quests are a big portion of the game, and could easily be tested within 10~20 game testers working in blizzard.

What they might do is implement a temporary quest to test the UI and Design of the quest to see if they are easy to follow and not too overly confusing to the mass gamers. This is how they would go about getting feedback, not on whether or not each one and every quest in act 1 and act 2 is "Good". That is very stupid way to go about testing.

Secondly, PvP is going to be the heavy emphasis whether or not you agree. Why?
Blizzard knows the importance of balance, whether or not if it's their main priority or not. They are not going to completely dismiss PvP component and put their game in jeopardy upon releasing the game.

You can't expect 20 game testers to come up with all the possible builds and skill trees and skill + rune combination with trait system etc and have it balanced. The resource and the time it takes is too long.
This is where 10000+ beta testers come in to play a big role. Of course every PvP wont be balanced but we can get it to a point where something does not 2 shot kill you. 6 months would go to waste if you just test quest system which probably wont be anything like in the real game.

Edit: I believe Jay Wilson did say "PvP is not going to be main focus of the game"
This does not mean they do not care about it.
This simply means, they dont want to screw up PvE where most people will play just because some skills don't work for PvP. However, Blizzard will put both "emphasis" on both PvP and PvE.

posted a message on What will the beta BE?
I'll try to pin point some important aspect of the game that Blizzard should focus during the beta.
This is just my own thoughts and should not be the standard of any other beta.

    1)
Storyline should be "completely removed" from the beta. Why? If you spoil the game, then sales will drop.
If blizzard wanted to test the "functionality" and the player's opinion on the quest system, then they can simply do so using temporary quests that are irrelevant to the story line.

    2)
PvP; This is probably going to be the "heavy" focus in the beta. Let me tell you some of the reasons why.
    - PvP is the hardest to balance. I don't mean 100% balance, but even to get it to 70% balance where the game seems enjoyable and balanced to some measure. I highly doubt that Blizzard has the capability to balance PvP without giving the full PvP system to the hands of beta testers. This is just like what happened to SC2. You can't internally balance the game within the testers working at Blizzard. Just simply look at 5 Rax Reaper, this highly broken "build" was fixed few months after the "official release". The point is, the game won't be balanced even after the beta.
Beta is to balance the game as much as you can, so PvP is a must and should be their top 2 priority. (PvE and PvP)

Honestly, I don't know what blizzard should release and what not to.
Should people provide feedback on the crafting system? but you have to know that by releasing some of these features could backfire on them. People are highly anticipating for this game, and their expectations are so high that if somethings are very poor in design then they might consider not buying the game.
The critics will judge the game based on the "Beta". And if Diablo 3 does not live up to the expectation of people around the world who've waited for god knows how long... then their sales could expect to drop drastically.

I just wish they hired 100 PvP testers just to get the ground work all complete. I would even work for free, as I imagine many of you would as well. Beta won't really work for Diablo 3... It's too late to release the beta now.
Just go ahead and release the game without spoiling ANY features of the game. Not even the actual graphics that will display on our monitors.

-Sorry if this got too long

    Quote from Junotekh

True, but since difficulty increases with the amount of players in the game they could just make it like, exactly possible with the amount of players you're playing with.
Though a 4player co-op dungeon would be very good for teamplay which i believe they're trying everything for to get.

Again I left out a lot of precise detail in my original post.
The scaling factor in difficulty will be easier to adjust within these 4 player co-op dungeons.

    Heres a reason why:

There is a level cap for these special dungeons. (Lvl 55+)
You have a good idea of whose going to be playing them. (Not level 30's)
In addition, these dungeons are known to be "hard". Some groups may fail at finishing them in time.
The point is, you can scale it to a fixed point. To a point where it does x damage to players.
This approach guarantee a much more difficult stage, rather than an act itself.
which is balanced for a player with nooby ~ epic gears.

This particular dungeon is only hard because it's aimed at 4 player co-op. Which is different from the regular
act 1 ~ act 4 monsters. Blizzard can implement
mechanics within monsters that will motivate more group plays, with variety of character.
Maybe combination of different runes could play a big role here. Do you choose fire vs poison? or maybe longer stuns?
In general, monsters and bosses will have more attributes, and resistance boost to them.

I personally do not want any content that I cannot solo.

The term "solo" is defined by what gear you have.
You prob can't "solo" diablo in hell without a decent gear.

Perhaps, these dungeons could be "soloed" but you'd need a very good gear. Which is the reason why its only 4 players only, no more or no less. Encourages group play and rewards are sufficient enough to be desired.
Honor points make you stand out more.

posted a message on Keys to secret Dungeon
I wanted to open a discussion regarding the dungeon system. As of now, I'm sure blizzard has implemented many dungeons to make the game fresh every time we play. That includes tons and tons of randomization. But what worries me is the "difficulty" factor of the game. Once we get to a certain point, I think the game will just feel "slicing through butter". Maxing level 60, with Level 14 Gem with unique gears. What next?

    Assumption
"I will assume, through tons of grinding and trade you have succesfully gained all these gears. Perhaps you had to kill Diablo 1000 times. The point is, you can walk through hell. After all, why couldn't you? Blizzard is adjusting this game so that people with moderate gear can finish it. So you should easily wipe out Diablo and his minions in act 4".
    Problem

What I find troubling is Blizzard has laid out 14 different gems, and 10 tiers of sets and more. I'm sure Blizzard intended us to finish through act 1 ~ act 4 with moderate gears, and not the best gear you could possibly find in the game with max level 14 gems all socketed in your gear. But what if, you do obtain all these epic gears. With level 7 Skill runes, and level 14 gems, with one of the best items that the game has to offer. Do... I just PvP?
Is there no more PvE part of Diablo 3 that I can resort to?

    Solution
I personally think WoW succeeded because it had that "Motivation" factor. People wanted the best gear, but yet it was still hard. And even if they had obtained the best gear in the game, the game by no means becomes "EASY".
While I like to kill those pity demons in 1 shot, it always shouldn't be that way.

My small idea on end game
Hell monster in act 1 ~ 4 randomly DROPS 4 Player CO-OP Dungeon Key:
    - Level 50
    - Level 55
    - Level 60
P.S - These keys are very rare, and only drop from bosses/champions/unique bosses

The "Party Leader" and his team will stand by the gate of hell or wherever the Key says to go in the description.
When the party leader enters, the group will automatically put inside these co-op specified only dungeon.
These hell cards are equivalent to "Ubers" from Diablo 2. Meaning, intensified strength of monsters and health.
There are generally more "swarm" feeling and are often very hard. You would need a great team of 4 players, serving each of their critical character role very well.

    Why Dungeon Co-op is important:
Firstly, Blizzard has all the freedom in the world to scale them seperately from the normal act 1 ~ act 4 story line.
These dungeons may or may not have story line, but it does not matter. What Blizzard should focus is bringing the best monster design, so that each class will have to perform at their best. Even with the top gear, this dungeon will seemingly be "hard" and not easy by any means.
Just like "Uber Tristram". Not many classes could finish them, except for Paladin because he was OP.

I didn't have enough time to write the details, which are currently lingering around my head.
    But you get the point.
End game need not be so "EASY". There are many ways to make the end game more appealing than killing the same boss 10000 times. Which is probably what Blizzard has already done.

    Kudos

P.S - The reward of killing monsters and bosses in this dungeon is not to give better lewts. I don't encourage the system where, Higher level = More lewt because of these dungeons. But the reward will be "Honor points". Blizzard has told us that there will be something that players will strive to reach.

"I'm baffled by this guy" - from Limitless the movie

The events that will unfold in Blizzcon 2011 will be determined by what happens in May 5th Conference Call.
If the Beta were to be launched after a week or 2 after the May conference call, we'll be in pretty good shape to hear a firm release date of Diablo 3 in Blizzcon 2011. If not, I'm afraid all we're going to hear is Jay Wilson's famous quote.
"We're not done yet, and we'll let you know when we're done".

Or at most, we'll be lucky to hear a "beta" date. What do you guys think?
Jay wilson going to pull another "We're not done yet?"

How will you react this time? as suppose to the last blizzcon?
Personally, I am running out of patience, and it's very sad to see me this way over a game...
    You guys?

posted a message on Will D3 be too short?
All I know is that there will be more bosses beside the act boss per act.
Meaning Act 1 will have the act boss but, Thousand Ponder that rips your head apart, skeleton king, and the fat dude with 2 mace that charge at you. Remember that all these are act 1 sub-bosses, which probably has a story of its own.
So in my opinion, I believe the game will have more content which means longer game play.
Now, this is all different for others, they could go through the entire game in a week, and some may go through them in a month. There is no such thing as "average". Its not a test score, especially when every one's test is different, since blizzard is introducing more "randomized" dungeons and quests along the way.

posted a message on Diablo 3 Music is Insane
I've have really high standard for music. and also girls (but thats irrelevant for this topic)

The point of this thread is to discuss your current likes and dislikes with Diablo3 sound tracks.
And of course, your own set of interpretation on each track. What do you think is happening in the song? I've always been told that each song has its own message (Of course ones without lyrics, no today is not Friday and I dont want get in the front sit...)

My analysis on Diablo 3 - "Overture"
    Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qy31Kwd0gxI

The song gives that "alone" and "no hope" atmosphere in the beginning and suddenly makes me feel as though I'm trying to break through the world of evil, but yet they are still shadowing over my body. The devil is still lingering around me although I do not see any. It can't be killed, and it will never be killed.

    Next up is "Cathedral"
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NAxM3tER64g&feature=related

This is probably a really good soundtrack for a dungeon scene. Gives a "sewer" feeling to it. Gloomy liquids with heat coming from the ground. Feeling of danger, as if a swarm of demon would suddenly come marching. But yet to have any sign of them.

I tried my best, and again this is just my own interpretation of some soundtracks there are more on the web.
I'd like to hear what kind of message or feeling you might have captured listening. Enjoy!

P.S - Close your eyes when you listen to them. It really makes a world of difference

Its partly your fault for getting hacked. 90% of the time, you get hacked because your careless with information thats suppose to be kept only for yourself.
And Diablo 3 is highly going to emphasis that whatever happens, they are not responsible for it.
    Why would they be?
