Well changing skill effect completely for PvP is bad idea.. but they already said they can change numbers for PvP..like stun duration, damage or cooldown.. But I think.. point is..with so many different combinations of skills, runes, gear, passive, enchants and with so many RNG... there is no way how to balance PvP..

Ok..you could possible give everyone same gear... but.. for which spec? We know every spec needs different gear..so ho many sets of gear you will create? And will you allow use this gear outside of PvP? There are so many things you have to deal with that focusing on PvP doesn't make even sense.
too bad atleast balance out the dmg/stuns/slows etc and provide a competitive(as much as possible) scene with rankings win/loss k/d last man standing

gear in an RPG is part of PvP so who the hell cares doesn't mean they should forget about pvp

ok look, it always make me itch a little bit those pvp post. I love pvp and will participate in pvp and will gladly defend it.

You consider it a battle to be heard for a better pvp and they did not care about pvp etc. Of course they didnt, they said it at the start. They openly said, we dont care about pvp and we wont focus on it, it wont be balanced.

Everyone seem to expect that pvp will be nicely done and are mad because it aint.

I will take it as it come, point

edit : i dont want a pvp to be a focus, ill find a foutain of youth and keep jay wilson alive if i have too. Diablo is a PVE game, if more then 95% of the content of the game is not pve, ill be pissed. I dont play diablo to go pvp ,i play diablo to get a nice story, epic battle, dungeon crawling , min/max my char. Duel was really a concern when i got bored of all that after 2years+

you sir, are the defenition of a preteen gamer.

Can it really be that difficult to design and maintain a respectable PvP system? Compared to, say, designing spell effects, evironment, characters, skills, etc etc. What does the PvP team actually do?

    Let's say they:

Tweak current abilities to have "PvP only" effects (PvP team might not even be responsible for this).

    Maintain a ladder system

    Maintain class balance

    Brainstorm new pvp ideas???

2 of these have already been firmly stated that they will not be implemented (ladder system and class balance).

I mean, honestly. Let's be real. What do these guys actually do?? Does this "PvP" team consist of 2 guys playing darts all day and getting paid? Obviously I'm being facetious, but it just doesn't seem that difficult (or threatening to PvMers for that matter) to maintain a respectable system for PvPers to enjoy.

yeah i wonder wth they are doing

lol yeah, on every pve game where there is pvp , pve is carebear and pvp is badass :P

    i like youre explanation

so if i go like that

    pve=preteen
    pvp=man

    astounding logic :P

edit : didnt see lafu reply

yes i do agree with you, if they have that team, i really wonder what they do seriously :S

    correct

D2 was not pvp oriented. People simply had the ability to fight each other. How is that pvp oriented? D2 pvp sucked. It sucked really bad.
so? endgame was basically pvp and gearing your pvp chars

That's not true. Endgame was mostly grinding and trading and ubering and gear collecting. I don't know about you, but when I log on, I see maybe one PvP game per every twenty grinding games. PvP was a part of endgame, but it should not and cannot be confused as the endgame.

If, like apples, you are arguing that your endgame was only PvP, that is entirely different and is not based on observable fact, thereby making "endgame" relative to the beholder.
that's cus people are botting baal/chaos games rofl

also people mostly only pvp in private duel games now/ladder games

    Don't troll me, bro :(

I only did ubers and MFed and grinded in private games and private channels. Does that suddenly make it the de facto standard for endgame? No. It makes it part of endgame.
oh god how did you not get bored if you only PvEd

btw I did Ubers too actually got a lot of my wealth by hosting uber runs

all the wealth went into my pvp chars

They need to bring back Last Man Standing, and some sort of Ranking system to keep people who play the game for it's endgame PvP, actually playing further down the line. I've said this like 9 times over the past two days in posts, but you can make a game competitive without turning it into an E-Sport. Achievements don't matter much to most people who have played a game competitively.
    I 100% agree

I don't know what to say, if you're expecting a PvP oriented game maybe Diablo III isn't for you. Basically what I'm hearing is a lot of the same whining that happened when WoW was released and people just said "Go play Guild Wars".
WoW is very PvP oriented hmm hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm see the trend?

Diablo 2 was very PvP oriented hmm hmmmm se the trend?

When PvP isn't intended to be a big factor, it always becomes a big factor, want it or not.

I want to PvE to grind gear and then PvP and then grind more gear and PvP (I'm sure most people who PvP do to)

whats not to like about pvp so far? sorry guys i dont really keep track of d3 pvp so someone wanna explain pros/cons real fast for me?

    -No Ranking

-No balance at all for PvP

-TDM mode (you get killed and revive in a short time - sort of like COD / Halo TDM

-No win/loss because people don't like losses (BIG LOL)

-he said he wants PvP to be VERY casual and that he has no intend in working a lot on PvP

Before somebody comes in and says this isn't an esport, we don't expect them to turn it into one, but we want to be able to turn it into one OURSELVES.
In D2 we had world PvP, so we could do anything we wanted, including 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, 4v4, FFA, 2v8. We could organize Good manered (Traditional last mand standing games), but there was also random duel games.

We could structure say SvS, TvT, BvB ect tournaments, competitions.

With this new system they limit us to 1v1-3v3 and the only game type is Team deathmatch.

What we want: more options, the ability to have both last mand standing and team deathmatch, the ability to have some basic PvP tracking statistics (wether private or public), and finally some basic balance within the game, we aren't asking for perfection.

Sounds oddly similar to how things were in Diablo II, yet people still PvP'd a lot. The biggest difference is that you can't grief people anymore. Are you sure that's really not what you're upset about?

Yes, you are correct, D2 didn't come with any of those, but as a community and as players we had the option to play certain ways and do ALL of that stuff.
    Exactly my mind though

    no

D2 is an old game with outdated mechanics don't you think? Sure, it wasn't in D2, but why shouldn't it be in D3. Now-a-days we're used to better mechanics.

Rankings (D2 had them, dueling ladders) Making OFFICIAL D3 ladders just takes the competitive part to a next notch (more sense of accomplishment)

TDM mode is just ... gay the round system was infinitely better

Win/Loss and K/D ratios... this again goes with the sense of accomplishment/progression

First of all I have to say that I support ALL the changes that were made,

As for everyone else who keeps hating on Blizzard for making dynamic changes that will only make the game more fun, if it bothers you that much please dont buy the game. theres no need for your babbling bullshit to raid these forums about how much you now hate blizzard(When only 2 days ago you had zero problems with them) or how they have "lost a sale"...just shut up and dont buy the game then, lets go over this

RMAH - If you dont like it DONT USE IT! however its a great option to have, if you think an auction house is going to change gameplay you are stupid, If you think now all you have to do is have money to have godly gear then what did you think about D2JSP??? same thing and no one was bitching about that

No Skill Points - There is way more customization now than there ever was, much better than dumping your points into one spell and spamming the shit out of it all over the map, and have they released how easy/hard its going to be to swap skills...NO so stop speculating until you have played the game

Internet Connection - its 2011 you can get internet everywhere, if you dont have internet then how are you on the forum??

Can we please just have constructive topics on the game we all want to play so badly instead of just a bunch of babbling bullshit
Since the news came out, there has been almost nothing but constructive replies from people, not all but most of us. In general I think people have kept their cool relatively well (as opposed to how high feelings can run on forums sometimes).

You're not exactly the first one to post a new topic about this, so please stop with your babbling bullshit - we're in our right minds to disagree with Blizzards changes.
    specially when we post solutions
