posted a message on auction house limit
Well, they had two ways they could go:

    1) They could do the WoW way, with all the auctions, you wanted, but you lose a deposit if it doesn't sell, or you cancel
    2) or the way they have now, no deposits, so no cost to you if it doesn't sell, but, limited # of auctions.

So, be careful what you ask for. If you want to lose a deposit every time you cancel or it doesn't sell, then you can have more slots.

I did notice that the SK government evidently was ok with not giving refunds to people who got to Inferno and wanted a refund, though.

(Level 40 or below for refunds.)

Well, it is fair enough for blizzard also in this case. For only lv40 and below have their refund. But still, We might see alot of lawsuit coming up from S.Korea.

I also found it funny that while this population of people popped up wanting refunds. the internet cafe seats devoted to D3 went from (if I remember right) 16% to 40%. So it was definitely a minority population that wanted the refund.

So, while this happened, it wasn't like 'most' or anything more than a very small group wanted the refunds. They just made a lot of noise about it, and the government isn't happy with Blizzard keeping the broadcast rights to SC2 anyway.

    Quote from Pyrrhic

People have been predicting the death of WoW for years now, and they still have more players left than all the other MMOs combined. Can't please everyone.

Considering some 'ancient' games like EverQuest are still going with far less population, I don't think WoW will 'die' anytime soon. (Unless Blizzard themselves pull the plug on it or Titan/some other game is really that good to drop subscribers so low that they take a loss from it. In which case it would probably just go F2P and gain a playerbase again)

So, let's see how WoW holds up against other MMORPG subscriber counts worldwide. Here are some of the largest MMORPG's by population or "popularity" that have listed their subscription figures:

All of these numbers are certainly debatable, but these are the official subscribers counts.. apparently.

    [snipped sub #s for brevity]

I guess I could have said 'subscription' or 'pay-to-play' MMOs. :D

Regardless, it just means that some people aren't in the intended audience that Blizzard built the game around. If you're not part of who they built it for, might as well move on. It's just that those people leaving isn't going to 'kill' anything. There's still tons of happy WoW players, and lots of others who have quit for whatever reason. Regardless, there's plenty of people there to make the game healthy. D3 will be the same, imo.

You just have to be able to adapt.

Diablo 3 will live a long life.

And that's the key. Good players adapt. The rest...do something else.

    Quote from thelibra

As i have mentioned, blizz had already responded to me saying that there's nothing they could do about it because Diablo 3's program structure does not allow them to track what really happened. Just be careful guys!

Hopefully it won't happen to anyone else. There was a bug fixed in 1.0.3 related to trading at higher latency.

Really sorry to hear that this happened to you and that blizz can't do anything about it. Perhaps stick to the ah and avoid trading in game.

Maybe the best thing you can do is make sure everyone on these forums know about this bug. So that no one else has this happen to themselves.

It's in 1.0.3's patch notes that they fixed a bug with the trade window. So the above bug is fixed. Sad that he lost gold, but...it was only gold. If he's in Inferno, he'll get that back quickly.

but their programmers and architects, are getting sloppy lately...

D3 has far less bugs and stuff in it at launch than D2 ever did. Are you a programmer? I mean, one who does it for a living? If not, then you have no idea...

Simply put, I don't trade in-game unless I know someone well enough to just throw the item on the ground for them to pick up, and expect that they'll trade me the gold of their own volition. If I don't trust them that much, then, well, the AH is there, and there's tons of cheap deals.

I guess I associate Diablo with "don't trust anyone you don't know" from D2 days with all the hacks/cheats/etc.

WoW trading isn't the same thing at all.

You should have refused to trade as soon as he cancelled the first one for no reason.

posted a message on RMAH and nerf items
Fact is, sure, you can go to the bank and try to pull back the money you paid for the item, but, if you do, I believe Blizzard is likely to ban the whole account for fraud. If you buy on the RMAH, and say it was a bad transaction, i.e. stolen card, then Blizzard's going to ban the account, or at least ban RMAH use, and make the item disappear from your character when they get the chargeback.

I have no sympathy for the OP. Take responsibility for your own actions. Research your $150 purchase before doing it.

    Quote from Beace

I always thought the WoW community was bad (at least after the first few years), but yeah, the Diablo community is even worse. Just full of whiners and haters.

I would actually go out on a limb and say that a majority of the people complaining ARE the WoW community.

Well, I don't fit that at all. I'm not complaining, and I played WoW, but, I played D1/D2 before I ever heard of WoW, too.

I don't really play WoW anymore, not because 'they ruined it' or anything, just...I've played it too much. I play Rift when I have the MMO itch, and D3 is something I've been waiting for years to see.

Many of the complainers are the people who think that every game that's not designed specifically around what they want, and any game that doesn't give them advantages because they are *just that awesome*...is wrong. Many of these same people pollute the WoW forums with QQ, too, of course, so that would fit with what you said.

As someone else pointed out, though, the *absolute worst community* I've ever dealt with is the FPS community. We see some leakage from there into D3 and into WoW, and a lot of those, are the people that expected to clear Inferno in the first week, and when they couldn't...then it was the game's fault, and it was wrong, etc.

Blizzard knows who they're aiming to please. If you're not in that demographic, you may get a bone thrown to you, and/or you may get ignored. Doesn't mean they're wrong, just means your wants aren't on their list. It's a business.

    Quote from antrodax

Nice list. It must include the overall nerf to the resplandencent chest that now only drop blues with the exceptional rare here and there

Actually, I've gotten more rares from chests after patch than before. I'm thinking they buffed up their rare chance a bit, since MF no longer applies to them. So, if you always opened them with MF on, then yeah, they'll drop less.
