also all of this anti blizzard stuff is putting a dampener on my inspiration to get diablo 3 for my new computer ( my video card comes in the mail in 2 days O_O

Don't worry about all that. It's just the 'cool thing' to bash Blizzard now. It's always the in thing to bash the big dogs.

D3's definitely worth the price. Even if you play through each class to 60 once, you'll get your money's worth, IMO.

The counterpoint to this is that if game companies always did what was asked for on the forums, games would quickly degenerate into trash, and some have.

They *know* what players are doing and what percentage of players are doing what kind of play. Keep in mind even the very busy official forums are still a very small part of a multi-million person playerbase, so the forum makeup/wants may not actually reflect what's being played out in the game.

It's their game. You can either play it, or not play it. You can post what you want, but keep in mind that in no way can you make anyone believe that what you want is a 'fact' that the 'majority' wants. Anyone using the phrase "the majority wants X" in an official forum post is basically fooling himself. One person can only speak for himself and perhaps his circle of friends. Even 1000 friends (improbable) is infinitesimal against the full playerbase.

Blizzard is going to satisfy the biggest demographic first If you're not in it, then you may get a few crumbs, or you may get nothing.

People here may hate WoW, but Blizzard has learned a lot about satistying that biggest demographic, and not giving as much weight to the smaller, more vocal groups. Again, if you're not in that demographic, you may hate what they've done to WoW, but, Q1 results showed subs stable even through SWTOR launch, etc, so they must have satisfied quite a few people. Just not you.

Same with D3. They're going to satisfy the biggest group, and it may not be the one that is most vocal on the forums. They're also going to satisfy the people most likely to buy an expansion later. If you're pissing and moaning now, you're probably not considered to be one of those. :D

one of the worst games in the history of mankind - WOW.

Whether you like WoW or not, that statement was pretty naive.

Very true. No matter your personal opinion on it, WoW affected more than just MMOs. Statements like you quoted are just big flags that say 'Ignore what this person says. He's an idiot.' He's just another person hopping on the "It's cool to bash WoW" bandwagon.

I don't even play anymore, so I have no axe to grind for or against WoW, btw.

So many of the 'veteran D2 players' that dislike D3 remember a D2 where the best items were easy to get because they were duped widely, and hacks/bots/other made it easy to level to high levels in less than a day *and Blizzard didn't bother to fix it after a while*. Hell runs were faceroll and PK/Hostile could force PvP on anyone who you wanted to kill.

That's not the D2 I remember at all. I remember a D2 that still only ever gave me 1 SoJ in five years, other than the guaranteed drop ones. I had D2 on launch day, as well as LoD, and I was 28 years old when I discovered Diablo I in 1998. So I'm definitely as much or more a veteran as any of those people.

I like D3 a lot. It's very much improved in my eyes, and 1.0.3 fixed many of the worst problems, including a ton of quest exploits are now gone, static 30-sec farming is greatly reduced, and glass cannon cheese builds are pretty much screwed in Inferno. Now Inferno is doable but not faceroll, and the best way to progress is to play the game.

No one can honestly say they 'know' the thoughts of 'the majority'. They can only know the thoughts of themselves and their circle of friends, and that's going to be infinitesimal against the multi-million person D3 playerbase.

posted a message on blizzard sends a code everytime you list on rmah?
    Quote from peasofme

how does rmah determine starting price?

In US, it defaults to vendor price (gold) in cents; i.e. if vendor price is 234 gold, starting price will default to $2.34. However, you can change that to whatever you want. If you want to list the item for 1.25 bid/1.25 buyout, you can, or 10.00 bid/50.00 buyout. Whatever you want, up to the limit.

The only 'forced pricing' the system does on the real-money side is the upper/lower limits: at least $1.25 and no more than $250.00

For me it was only for the first item i ever put up, then it wasn't required.

I think it's sort of like the authenticator. If you don't change machine or IP, it will let you through if you've given a number before. If you change any of those things, it will ask.

posted a message on Best Leveling Method Post 1.0.3?
I approve this thread, or at least the lack of 'powerleveling' (I call it exploiting) solutions offered.

My tinfoil hat theory: Blizzard tuned Inferno to 'ludicrous' on purpose, knowing all the time they would nerf it back down to the more doable, but still not faceroll for most people levels they did yesterday.

This gave them five weeks to find out:

    1) What the OP cheese skills/affixes were
    2) What the exploitable 30 sec farm/bottable sites/methods were
    3) What the exploitable quests for xp were

Now they've gotten rid of a bunch of the above three things, and those that depended on them are unhappy. I savor their tears. :D

posted a message on A LOT of Rubber Banding In Patch 1.0.3
I'm in NA, and the patch day is settling down atm, and the rubberbanding is going away, too. I'm writing it down to 'much awaited patch day lag', which happens in WoW sometimes, unless it persists for me tomorrow. I've not had but very little of it before, so we'll see what tomorrow brings. Wouldn't be the first time the Law of Unintended Consequences happens to Blizzard. Patching a program of this size is always fraught with peril. :P

On the other hand, it feels like every barb and their mom in decent gear will breeze through this game.

Judging from the whining that is still all over the place, Inferno still requires some amount of gear and skill to do what you're doing. There's lots out there who are obviously either still not geared for where they are, or need to l2p, or both, as they're heavily bitching about the repair costs. If you're not dying too much, the repair costs aren't a big deal. And if you're dying too much, you either need to l2p or get better gear, whether you use the AH or farm in the previous act.

So, I don't think you need to worry about that too much yet.

    posted a message on 1.03...wishing I had 1.02c back
Funny. Those who had given up on Inferno before are still whining, while my friends who thought it just needed a little tweak are happily farming Act 3 or 4 in the gear they used to do Act 2 in.

Good players adapt. Bad players whine. Figure out which one you are.

I appreciate your view, but my investing in the real world has clearly allowed me to splurge on whatever the hell I want.

If you're so loaded, why are you whining on a forum over a paltry $250. Make up your mind.

As we said, a fool and his money are soon parted. You're the fool who's whining about it on a public forum, yet says he's rich enough that it's not a big deal.
