this is where my 45 guardian spawned earlier http://imgur.com/xE9rIj6. it was pretty annoying to say the least...

I just cannot understand why the RG doesn't spawn at the exact location of the final progress bar kill?

RG can only spawn on certain tiles of the map that are 'large' enough for it. The problem is that the tile is chosen by shortest Euclidean distance and not by shortest walking path. Sadly D3 is not the only game using this (flawed) approach.

The snapshot in the OP shows pretty much the exact location of myself and the RG spawn when the trigger occurred. It does appear to back your post above.

Problem being, in this tile-set (as well as many others), very few of the floors locations provide a spot any bigger than the other.

Notable here is that the spot where he spawned seems to provide no more space than the spot I was standing. Weird stuff, but this issue is not something of critical importance. Sort of a quality of life measure that actually impacts the game to the extent of having the potential to affect leaderboard placement.

By the lack of answers, I assume nothing has been said or done about the issue of the Rift Guardian spawn location? Certainly not the most critical issue at hand, but a nuance that, on occasion, can wreck an otherwise fantastic run through a rift. As was documented in this thread, I had a legit shot at top ten placement blown by this flawed spawn dynamic, and my next effort ended in a total wipe of my character (through my own poor play decision, granted). The great point is, however, that especially in HC mode, a second chance is never guaranteed.

Sadly, my next attempt at tier 45 HC Grift ended in death.

I pushed a bit too hard, and decided to take a noob risk and continue to clear trash mobs while I waited for my fatal passive to cooldown, as a means of keeping up with the timer.

A Dark Berserker gave me a crushing blow and ended my Crusaders run toward the top ten HC NS Crusader boards. A dumb mistake to say the least. I usually opt to live and fight another day, never continuing to fight with my fatal passive popped if I can help it.

This kinda thing is why the instance in the OP is a big deal to HC players. There's no guarantee that you'll get another chance. This spells the end of my attempts with a crusader in patch 2.2. I still have my rank #18 Monk, however. Moving on.......

Wow. Now I don't feel so bad.

I just cannot understand why the RG doesn't spawn at the exact location of the final progress bar kill? Cleaning this up would help provide a more intuitive, smooth Grift experience. Also, either removing progress orbs altogether, or reducing the orb count to 1, would help shave frustrating seconds from the run.

I really hate when globes spring out over a 30+ yard radius, all concentrically opposed. Often just having to stand and wait for arcanes, molten, or waller to clear before being able to get to your orbs and continuing on. In short, there are several steps they could take to provide a more genuine feeling of competition, the most pressing of which would be the habit of the RG spawning so close, but so terribly far away.

OK..... I'm a bit miffed at the moment because of this ridiculous issue with random RG spawn locations. As a preface, my mission is to take the number 1 spot on the HC NS Crus boards before patch 2.3 hits. I'm currently sitting at rank #15.

To my understanding, the current protocol is that the RG will spawn within an average walking distance of 'X' number of seconds (something like ten seconds if I recall). But this is tragically flawed, as it is done by 'how the crow flies', and doesn't account for the geography of the floor layout.

Not that I would've placed number 1 with this clear, but I would've placed in the top ten with a successful finish in this tier 45 Grift. I had a razors edge to make it, about 2 minutes and 30 seconds to get the RG, even had a power pylon nearby to use.

When the RG spawned, my heart sank.

That is...... absolutely uncalled for, a ridiculous protocol is at play here. Even with the LONG journey I had to make to find the RG, even with losing my Pylon bonus, I still cleared in 17:09.

The spawn location trolled me out of top ten placement, and that is unacceptable.

My point in posting this isn't to complain (well....partially, I'm pissed). I want to know if ANYBODY has heard even a whisper from Blizz about tweaking this foolishness to a more reasonable spawn protocol? I have posted about this in the past at Bnet, but I am outright boycotting that horrific open sewer of a forum. I would get more responses there by creating a thread titled "You guyz iz stupidz".

Does anyone know if this will ever be addressed?

    My advice;

Read the patch notes for 2.1, 2.2, and the coming 2.3 patch....and just jump in head first. Figure the rest out after you bathe your character of choice in blood and guts.

Diablo 3 has come far, and is now being recognized by myself as a classic ARPG worthy of it's name.

It took 10 years to make d3. Hightly doubt a d4 is anywhere near coming..

D3's development cycle was critically harmed due to internal politics and regime change. If not for the odd goings on internally, Blizzard could've cranked out D3 much faster, and much more complete.

It's not accurate to say that it took 10 years to make Diablo 3. A better way to term it would be to say it took 5 or 6 years for Blizzard to overcome the setbacks laid down from the fall of Blizzard North.

It would also be fair to say that it took 2 years post-launch for D3 to overcome Jay Wilson being granted the stewardship of the franchise. His inability to meet fan expectations in regard to Diablo itemization proved nearly fatal for the franchise IMO. But that's another conversation altogether.

    It's not d4

    it's not 3rd expansion.

2nd expansion is probably 75% done

It might be... D2 hd remake they've been thinking about !

    They would NOT be seeking an art director for D3 unless;

    a) The 2nd xpac hasn't begun development yet

    B) They seek a director for a 3rd xpac

    c) They seek a director for the preliminary stages of D4 dev'ing.

    I'm guessing it's for a 3rd xpac.

With the recent revelation that D3 has sold 30 million copies, well this validates them pushing for a 3rd xpac to milk this thing for all it's worth, and apparently it's worth a LOT.

As far as D2 goes; I have serious doubts that will ever happen. The cost of such an endeavor.....not sure it'd be worth it.

posted a message on Stash space

Small things, like a separate aggregate bank for gems and mats would go a long way. Similar to how Guild Wars 1 did their materials storage, separate from your gear stash and each different type of mat was represented with an icon, next to it a tally of your total amount.

We'll get more stash with a new xpac. Not much, but we'll see more room. To my knowledge, Wyatt Chang NEVER said in such terms that we'll never get more stash.

He said, and I'm not paraphrasing "If we give you more, you'll just ask for more". A snide way of saying that people can never have enough stash in a game like this, and there are technical limitations to what can be provided.

I'm actually surprised that people join public games oO seems rather pointless to me, get grouped up with a bunch of randoms, you dont know what gear they have or if they will stay afk the whole time, especially when there's tons of communitys where you can find decent groups.

Many people like the random exposure. It's a good way to meet new people, see what twists people are putting on builds etc. It can be frustrating, but it can also be quite fun to just jump in to a random group and see what transpires.

Imo, it needs to be way higher. P500 at least for T10.

I don't think that's necessary at all. I like the new restrictions, as I'm a fan of dropping in to pub games from time to time, but your character derives so much strength from it's gear that paragon restrictions don't need to be so high.

A paragon 400-ish could easily stomp t10 with the right gear. There should be some allowance for people with the gear to stand.

    So, BurningRope...bitter much?...LOL

Not so much "bitter". I'm more upset with myself for staying around there so long. I told myself to just stop going there, but then I'd see some post from some random retarded person and there I was...... actually trying to be the smartest kid in a special needs class. Not that Bnet doesn't have plenty of intelligent, funny, awesome posters. It's just that they are wholly drowned out by the children, my god the fucking children.

Dfans is well moderated, has a more positive membership and people don't come here specifically to have fun cursing out a major corporation like they do @Bnet. Though you will see a few people from time to time drip down here from Bnet and try the same stunts. They don't last long.

Hey there Stone. I actually walked away from Bnet forums a few weeks ago. I'm sure you remember me [BurningRope].

Just couldn't take the constant storm of negativity, insults, judgmental bullshit.....it really is a terrible place that will put you in a bad mood just being there.

You'll enjoy it much more here, I assure you of that. After that captcha nonsense, my opinion of the Bnet Forum Team went down to absolute zero. They trash their own forum for many of the users, and they couldn't even be bothered to say 1 word about it for a month.

So I hate the people there and I hate the forum team, two reasons to never go back to that fucking open sewer. If I had button on my wall that would crash their server for the whole day, I swear, I would wake up each morning and push it 'til it broke.

I look forward to shooting the shit with another old guy (you). Get comfy and make yourself at home. Alos, make sure to call the mods here "dipshits" every time you have a chance. They love it and they think it's super funny.
