Don't forget that you can get a lot of leverage from +% ele enhancements on gear. It won't show up on your sheet dps, but it will be there. For my monk, I've been focusing on attack speed, so I can build spirit faster and get off more spenders. The extra hits also helps with my LoH.

I'm trying to remember a blue post that I saw the other day, but maybe y'all can help.

Blizzard mentioned that it may investigate people how have been doing massive numbers of Cursed Chests runs because of the XP in-terms of their exploit clause in the EULA. Would Mira runs fall into the same type of scrutiny?

I wish these threads would just be autolocked and the OP permanently banned so we could stop hearing these "I'm a hardcore D2 player and I think D3 is shit because" threads.
I was just thinking something similar (excluding the perma-banning). I'm pretty sure that D2 still works, so if you don't like D3, then go back to the other game.

In regards to the topic, yes, this game is absolutely Diablo and it is a blast. It is Diablo III, maybe. They've done so many changes that one could make that case that this is Diablo 3.2. I feel that loot is okay because of how often it drops. Before loot 2.0, I was doing good to get 1-2 legs per play period (~4 hours), now I get one about every hour. The % ele affixes on weapons really helps with that whole "talent-tree" feel to a character. Besides, nothing is stopping you from locking your own build and starting a new char for a different kind of build.

I'm curious, I've seen a lot of builds (even my own) using Electrocute-Forked Lightning instead of Spectral Blades. Why did you chose SB?

Honestly, you have to farm or craft. Sure, you could get some stuff from the AH before it closes down, but loot 2.0 drops much better items IMO. It will take time, but farm the highest difficulty that you can and give it time. You'll also get some good paragon XP and gold.

Mantras are required IMO. Their passive values outweigh just another DPS skill, especially at higher torment levels.

    Quote from Ducha

Don't we get a guaranteed legendary if we play for x amount of time and one has not dropped for that given time? Kind of like a welfare legendary?

EDIT: Wanted to add something because what I asked was completely off topic.

Assuming that killing elites, goblins, and opening chests (It seems people are having more luck with the white chests than with resplendent ones :P) I always thought that would be the way to go. Thinking that they had a higher chance to drop legendaries, or even less chance to have low quality drops (i.e. blues, whites, and greys)

Perhaps someone will enlighten us on how to obtain more legendaries :P
I have found nothing but junk blues and yellows from resplendent chests. Out of the 6 legs i've found, two have been from white chests, two from breaking stuff, and one from a white mob kill, and one from a champion.

Are you sure about this? I thought I read on the game client that Imperial gems have a chance to drop from T1 and above.

I've been able to finish it using a rapid fire/preparation/night stalker build. I don't have to spend a lot of time firing bola shot, which helps in killing quickly. Honestly, just doing some normal farming and finding some new items to enhance your dps/build will help clear it too.

posted a message on % Elemental damage question.
    Quote from Flexy
    Quote from TwirlingFern

    Most damage categories are multiplicative.

Since elemental damage is multiplicative then you multiply your new sheet dps with elemental percent. Formula is (1+elemental dmg) * sheet dps = actual dps. So to break even, (1+elemental dmg) = new sheet dps/ old sheet dps. So to break even, your elemental % gain ALWAYS needs to be higher than your % dps lost.

Using the previous examples, if you lost 30% sheet dps then you need 1/0.7 = 43% elemental damage to break even. Since you gained 20% cold damage, then your overall actual dps is 0.7 * 1.2 = 84% of your original dps.

    Next example: losing 18% damage for +25% cold does NOT increase dps by 7%. Let's see: 0.82 * 1.25 = 1.025 = 2.5% dps increase

Now if your weapon has cold damage and also has % cold damage buff, then my guess is that amount of cold damage on the weapon gets multiplied by the cold damage buff, for all spells. I'm not sure if the sheet dps already calculates the buff in.
May I ask where you got that formula? I'm asking because I want to transfer it to a spreadsheet for quick & easy calculation. Therefore the formula needs to be correct.

EDIT: Wait a minute, I'm not sure if I understand that Formula.
You say: (1+elemental damage) * sheet dps = actual dps
With "elemental damage", do you mean the % damage increase (like +15% Cold Damage)? And are you sure it gets multiplied like that? So if I say (1+15) * 250.000 =4.000.000 dps? That can't be right.
Here is a simple way of doing it, assuming all of your damage skills are the same element.

    Row Number|Column A__________|Column B
    1 |Current Sheet DPS |[input from diablo]
    2 | |
    3 |Sheet Loss |[input % loss]
    4 |New Sheet DPS |=B1*(1-B3)
    5 |Elemental % Gain |[input % gain]
    6 |Elemental DPS Gain |=B4*B5 |
    7 | |
    8 |eDPS |=B4+B6

You make some decent points with the value of the stats, but I agree with the other posts in this thread. If my choice is to miss out on a 75%+ dps increase by equipping a decent lv 70 rare or keeping a chantodo's for the APOC, then I'm going to always go with the new rare. This will enable me to increase my T-level farming for better items, gold, and paragon XP. Also, more gear has resource reduction stats, so that helps with the lower APOC on items.

The designers made stats interesting again, so now it's learning how to balance everything to play a build that interest you.
