Could it be that Blizzard's plan to stop all this grinding with boss runs is another way of stopping the need to even have a maphack? I mean, if the best way to level and get gear is to simply run through a map killing along the way, then there wouldn't be much need for this while it gave a huge edge in D2.
But I also remember them saying somewhere that they have "other plans" for end-game which could suggest we do something else besides re-running the same maps.
I'm suggesting this might be the case because damned if D3 is not going to have hacks, and I enjoy it more when everyone is on the same playing field - in other words, no hacks.
Oh and what if the map was generated client-side? Wouldn't this fix the problem of map hacking?
If they are changing things purely for the sake of hacks, this has got to be the most stupid design decision I have ever witnessed. Here's another way to put it: Lets dumb down the game because people are whining about an advantage that doesn't truly affect them.
No, maybe the reason is, I don't know, boss grinding is dumb?
Client side? Non sense. Server side? The only way is to not even send parts of the map you can't see, which means more and constant additional and unnecessary traffic just to stop 1 hack.
Honestly, I think if you play the game long enough, you should be able to unlock some sort of a map revealer. I know it sounds like cheating, but seriously, I've played Diablo II since its release and I still have to reveal the map? I suppose it helps slow boss runs and stuff, but hopefully in Diablo III, there will be no need to grind certain monsters on the bottom of dungeons, thus making an achievement-based map revealer a nice addition, but not one that will give the player an extreme advantage.
Plus the outside environments are going to be mostly static anyways.

Ofc it affect then. When you like to play PvP, the competition is all that matters. The fact that your oponents do a run five times faster then you means everything.
maybe bosses will have different respawn locations every time
awesome suggestion, wonder if they will think of it
It does sound interesting. But if the dungeons are randomly generated, then yes, of course the boss will have a different spawn location. One comes with the other.

I guess he meant the bosses will spawn in different dungeons.

Ahh. Well, IMO, that in particular wouldn't make any sense. :turned:

It could work for champions etc, but not for act bosses. They will always have their own special area (like mephi's durance of hate level, Duriel in the chamber, Andariel behind the gate etc.). From what we've seen so far I guess it will be the same in D3. They could of course randomize the location of that boss area, but they did that already in D2.. that's why people started maphacking in the first place.

as long as it wasnt needed to be done/bought every new game id do that in d2 for sure
Diablo thanks God for creating obesity and ugliness.
