Blizzard has now officially stated that the collectors edition dyes do not have any particle effects. So now that we know, what do you think they will look like?
At first I thought they maybe would be white and black but those are already other dyes. My only idea is they could be some other gradient or something. If there is no particle effects is there much else that they could do?
For the most part the other colors are mostly a single color, with slightly varying shades to account for shadowing, etc.
Maybe the Bottled Smoke and Cloud could be multiple colors swirled together, to look like cloud and smoke?
But... They never promised particle effects on those dyes? Or did I miss something?
No they didn't ever promise it, but it was something that was guessed to be a possibility. In response to the fan-site questions (which are posted on the front page) they said CE dyes do not have particle effects.

They never promised particle effects, but people have been asking for a while if the Collector's Edition dyes would have special effects associated with them. This was just an official response to stop the questions.
Well if thats the case, then smoke = rogue, and cloud = pale. they aren't unique to the CE, just reusable. Kind of misleading that the CE gets unique dyes when they actually don't get anything unique at all, just a convenience "free" dye you can use for every drop you get.

That's not true. The Collector's Edition Dyes have been confirmed to be 100% unique and unable to be gotten any way other than by purchasing the Collector's Edition.
The Dyes page in the Game Guide merely has placeholder colors for the CE dyes. They have not yet been updated.
Falcompsx you and several others need to quit jumping to conclusions that Smoke = rogue and cloud = pale. The current files or pictures are data-mined and/or place holders therefore we have no idea what actual colors they are. So if no on the particle effects then its most likely to be some sort of different shade that looks something like smoke or cloud would look like if it was a color.
Oh NOOOO!!! Not buying Diablo 3 now. No particle effects means no deal.
srsly tho, what fansite thought that was a good question?
Dunno, but it has been a frequently asked question among the various DIII forums. Some people like (or dislike) the effects and wanted to know if they would be included.
Personally I think it's a fine line. WoW does seem to have a lot of over-the-top effects that are not very aesthetically pleasing, whereas others are nice. If done right, the dyes having particle effects could be a bonus.
Buuut they aren't doing it anyway, so no need thinking on it.
o.0 I didn't know people actually thought that.. Those dyes were in the game files for a very long time, and no particle effects were ever attached =P
I always thought it was be cool, but never thought it was happen
Also the dyes in the game files have been placeholders and carbon copies of two other dyes (thus spawning these rumors that they weren't unique), unless you've been hiding stuff from us, News Manager?

Cherub... bad sarcasm... *shakes head* lol
I hope you're right, but i have my doubts. Either way, i just want the game, dyes, wings, or not i dont care.
It makes sense why they did this. It's going to be an unique color (think slightly off another color) and that's cool in itself. But if they made it all super fantastic then the super rare dyes won't be worth very much.

blue already debunked a post asserting it was the same. I believe the response was "just because certain content was datamined does not mean it reflects what will be available in the retail game".
The CE colors are unique. They however do not have particle effects.

I think it would be really cool if it they were like blacked out and white out. more of a solid black/white as opposed to the black/white fill from purity and abyssal, or something of the like.
On another note I am not wishing for these to be super bright over the top things I am just hoping for something that looks cool. I am just really curious as to what they look like or why they don't want to released them yet. (maybe they don't know yet lol)
blue said in the post something about 'gradients'..... i only scanned the article but theory: what if you could dye your armor with any color (lets say red) then added the bottled smoke.... creating a red to black gradient on the gear? persoally i think thats a terrible idea, just the first thing that came to mind. hope it aint true.
as for the no particle effects, kind of dissapointed. at first i didnt buy into the rumor that there was any. because adding particle effects for a single piece of gear would be rather wierd (smoke comming out of just your pants?) but over he last couple months theres been so much anticipation that i started to hope for..... something. what that something was i dont know, but something that helped add a 'special' feel to it thats not just a color change.
who knows, hopefully blizzard will have a front page post with pics/videos of the new dyes and the wings in acion of something. an overview of the contents in detailed form so to speak
