As the topic title says, which items do you hope to see in D3. As for me, there are several which I hope make a comeback, some due to their awesome names, and others because they bring back fond memories of playing D2.
Ill start with the enigma. I know many of you guys probably hated the enigma, but the fact that it was one of the most popular items, if not the most popular, will surely allow to make a comeback into D3(plus enigma is such a badass name). Another item which I hope to see is the Breath of The Dying weapon. Again, it was a very popular and powerful weapon.
One could go on forever naming items, but i'm a bit too lazy, so I'll just let you guys do the rest So, tell me my fellow Diablo Fans, which items do you hope make a comeback.
P.S. I'm not talking based on the functionality of the item, since more than likely they'll have completely different mechanics if they do return. I'm just curious as to which item was your favorite, be it for nostalgia or whatever.
Personally, I think Runewords really messed up Diablo II. I hate 'em. I always played a Sorceress and I had a lot of fun Magic Finding, until Enigma showed up and everyone could do it with twice the efficiency and no worries about immunities. You have things like Azurewrath, the sword used to destroy the f***ing Worldstone, that you can wield, but instead you'll go for a runeword. It sucks.
-One of my favorite item names is Harlequin Crest Shako, just because it's so hard to say.
-Undead Crown Crown, because we would always make fun of it.
-The Atlantean Ancient Sword, fantastic name and the night we were trying to get it, it was 3 AM and I said "Okay just one more run, then I have to sleep" and it dropped off of Diablo.
-There will always be a spot in my heart for The Meat Scraper.
-A lot of the lore items were cool too (i.e. Arm of King Leoric, Bul-Kathos' Wedding Band)
And really anything with one of those weird ethnic sounding names that was so memorable, like The Iron Jang Bong War Staff, or Bing Sz Wang, or Kuko Shakaku.
As long as they bring back Sigon's Complete Steel back (or anything similar to it), I'm fine.
I want my Barbarian looking like Ironman in that sick armor, imagine if they have some sort of silver or golden dye that makes it even more amazing.... mind bogling.. =D
Considering Runewords are out of the question in Diablo 3, I don't see things like Enigma or Botd returning. (Good to see Enigma not returning. It changed how the entire game played at end game.)
I would like to see the Sigon set return. The Immortal King set will probably return. I personally want Silks of the Victor, Rattlecage, and Iceblink. Those three, while being low level, were some of my favorite items.
Bonesaw, shadowfang, azurewrath, lightsabre, deaths fathom, veil of steel, ondals spire, the fetid sprinkler, edc (the abbreviation is cool, not the name; ethereal death cleaver), chains of honour, shaftstop, string of ears (whats this about, always wondered), jade talon (its like the name confers a story), buriza, and of course, shako.
i like a lot of names
edit: buriza is a ballista, exceptional crossbow, not repeating. one of the best items in terms of price/effectiveness.

Your right, runewords wont be coming back, but I didn't say they would come back as them, they could easily bring them back as a legendary, or even as a craft-able recipe that you can find. For all we know they could even make it suck giant balls, just for fun.
@Prosthesy, I agree 100% with you, I had forgotten of some of those items...undead crown crown...
So basicly you are just pissed that you didn't have the exclusive rights to MF....
Nope, just pissed that Hammerdin bots are about 70% of the Diablo 2 community at the moment, thanks to Enigma.
and this is bad why? obviously its not preferred but i can think of at least one positive outcome of hdin bots.
I think what he's getting at is that it makes D2 a whole lot less fun. I was okay with runes and runewords, but I agree with Prosthesy in that everyone having Enigma changed everything, and made your class (if you were a sorceress) feel a whole lot less valuable. To put it in other terms. Let's say you're a high school basketball player and you happen to be 6'11 and can dunk like Blake Griffin.. most HS basketball teams don't have a superstar like that.. well let's say that some scientist creates a shoe that literally makes it so that the wearer, no matter what height, can dunk.. Now as a 6'11 phenom who loves bringing it down on people's heads, how fun would it be to play the game of basketball when everyone has a pair of these shoes and now EVERYONE can dunk..? you don't feel so special anymore, and it kind of takes the luster and awe out of the act itself. And as for the Hdin bot thing.. just pretend every HS basketball team now has some sort of irobot player that can wipe the floor with everyone.. that'd make the game boooorrrriiingg..
As for some of my fav. items.. I did like the Windforce, and Trang-Oul's set..Only I wish Trang-Oul's didn't suck so hard.. oh and the Homunculous..that's just a sweet name.
taking your basketball example. not everyone with those shoes will be good at basketball, since basketball is a multifaceted skillset. the ability to jump is just one aspect; blake griffin is a beast because hes 6'11 and can jump, and is built like a monster. so a 5'5 100lb person isnt any challenge for blake griffin, and he must be very very very very very very very insecure to be 'threatened' by the guy with some fancy shoes. extending your analogy, what if blake griffin wore those shoes? he would be able to jump over buildings now. in fact, he would be even better than before, so even if the average jo could jump to griffinesque heights, blake could double that output, still furthering himself.
giving something an enigma doesnt make them on equal footing with another player, it just adds an ability that needs to be practiced. tl;dr - skill>items.
and if u think the ability to mf makes the sorc less valuable, because u arnt exclusive to teleporting, well...thats just selfish
i hope some of the items get some lore or backstory, like the generals tan do li ga or shaeffers hammer.
edit: dont get me wrong, theres parts of pre-1.10 that i liked and parts of post-1.10 that i cant stand. are hdins overpowered? slightly. do zons suck now? yup.
