Unfortunately I won't be able to afford this game when it comes out but I'll dying to play it. I love how for this Halo game there will be substantial differences between the Spartans and Elites. Are any of you getting it for Xbox?
I think a lot of people hate Halo cause of all the hype that's always surrounded it. That and maybe the hero looks like a motorcross racer. It seems to a lot of people like a game for people who eat almost exclusively Slim Jims and drink lots of Mountain Dew. Also when you're playing multiplayer, you really come across a vast amount of lowbrow culturally challenged morons who try extra hard to insult everyone over the internet as they possibly can. While I think most multiplayer encounters are like this anyway, Halo does seem to attract a larger amount of this type of gamer. If you're playing with or against strangers you're likely to not have a fun time. But with just one friend, any situation is tolerable. A friend of mine, we'd play Halo 3 all the time and just ignore the rest of our teammates and do our own thing. It was great fun.
Oh man, I remember when Halo 3 was still pretty new and I was playing it with a bunch of other people. We were on Valhalla and I stepped in the mancannon and as it launched me in the air an enemy Banshee just happened to be flying by. I totally boarded the guy and he was so pissed he was trying the rest of the game to only go after me. And I got video of the whole thing. It was great.
The only thing I remember about Halo is wanting to play matches my way and ending up in Rocket only matches, or battle rifle start bullshit, and the stupidly overpowered sniper, nevermind that enemy + right combination of weapons + you just happen to be there = dead? Oh yeah, thats fun. I remember buying a 360 and wanting nothing but Halo 3, and oh the disappointment. Just another game that could have been more if the developers weren't obviously complete morons.
My frustration at Halo comes from the fact that the only reason Halo 1 was successful is luck. They made a good game that felt good just because of sheer luck, and became popular. The sequels proved that they have absolutely no clue how to make an actual good game, but the mass always disagree with that. Then again, the masses also plays CoD religiously, right? I find it insulting to call myself a FPS guy when thats the kind of games we get nowadays.
Halo has its moments, multiplayer can have epic moments but there is nothing else attractive about it, casual games and combats gets on my nerve at every turn. The games still wins some points only and only because of Co-op, and an experience that is always fun to go through with a friend in splitscreen.
And all I have to say in the end, as long as the developers can give a gun such as the Assault Rifle, that kind of horribly retarded pew pew sound, then they are horrible, horrible developers. How can anyone with an ounce of talent make such huge mistakes?
Anyway, that was obviously about Halo 3 and I could care less about Reach. Go and enjoy your games while I keep shitting about gaming and how horrible it is today.

Heh, you sound like someone who's been sniped one too many times. And what's so bad about starting with the battle rifle? It's either that or the assault rifle. Either way it's so easy just to replace them with the gun you want. Or did you just not like other people being able to shoot you with their BRs? I do agree the snipers are annoying though. They used to mix the sniper games with regular ones and like every third game was a sniper game which got to be pretty annoying. But then they put the sniper games on their own playlist so I was okay with that. Rocket games were stupid and pointless but most people always vetoed them anyway. But your complaint here is just that some people would get the best weapons and hide and kill you or something.

This kind of makes no sense to me. They made a good game because of sheer luck? So are you still acknowledging it is a good game, but angry that they got lucky in making a good game? Maybe the success of the game is more than developers hoped for, but what does that have to do with anything?
The sequels proved that they have absolutely no clue how to make an actual good game, but the mass always disagree with that.

Casual games and combat gets on your nerve? It sounded at first like you were complaining about the hardcore players who sniped you at every turn. But now it sounds like you're ranting against casual players. But yes, it's fun to be able to play the campaign with a friend. Not many games let you do that.
And all I have to say in the end, as long as the developers can give a gun such as the Assault Rifle, that kind of horribly retarded pew pew sound, then they are horrible, horrible developers. How can anyone with an ounce of talent make such huge mistakes?
Um, seriously? I've shot real assault rifles before and they are definitely much louder than the one in Halo but like, seriously?
Anyway, that was obviously about Halo 3 and I could care less about Reach. Go and enjoy your games while I keep shitting about gaming and how horrible it is today.
Honestly this game is over hyped, Not to say that I wont be getting it. Hit me up GT: WoWwxEnt1ty. Here are my gripes with all halo games. Maybe if they developed the story a little bit but honestly its so generic and unpolished that i'd personally rather play the Pokemon games for a better storyline. Second honestly the game is based on weapon combos. If someones got Rockets and your BR'ing then well my friend your shit out of luck. Unless that guy misses his first rocket shot you're dead. Heavy weapons win games in the halo series. In CoD at least i can M16someone cross map if I'm good enough or maybe put a FAL shot through his head. The only thing it really has going for it is the multiplayer and how it plays other than needing the heavy weapons to win a game you can play and have fun. Another thing i hate is the carrier. This is when one man on the other team is just so god damned good that he can kill the entire other team and his teammates do nothing to help. This just takes teamwork out of the game. At least in CoD without my team I only do decent. but if you have a good team I can do 40-2...In halo you really don't need a team you can basically go in rape and win the game by yourself and carry your team through.

If someones got Rockets and your BR'ing then well my friend your shit out of luck. Unless that guy misses his first rocket shot you're dead.
Well in most maps it's kind of a race to the heavy weapons. And really the heavy weapons are only gonna get you a few kills per game. The laser and rockets don't spawn very often and when you do have them you're just waiting for your chance to use them whereas with the standard rifles you'll get your most kills.
I just think that's only true to a point and depending on the map. Like when I play a map wiht a Warthog, my friend and I can really tear shit up. But it's not that hard really to take out a Warthog so I still gotta be pretty careful about my driving and going near a swarm of guys. Or like a close quarters map like Guardian, obviously what you want is the shotgun or in my opinion a brute shot can be an amazing weapon for smaller maps. But even if the other team has the shotgun you can still totally ferret them out of their holes. And there are other weapons that are totally underrated but that you can use to make your own viable strategies for. I use the Needler all the time and I've never understood why people hate this weapon. Or even the Carbine. That gun totally kicks ass over the BR in my opinion. And then there's the Ghost. I can rack up so many kills on it and most people never even go for the Ghost cause they just hate it for some reason. I think the most unbalanced weapon though is indeed the sniper rifle. I'm only average with it, but the people who just perch themselves up real high and sit there the whole game with it are really annoying.
Another thing i hate is the carrier. This is when one man on the other team is just so god damned good that he can kill the entire other team and his teammates do nothing to help. This just takes teamwork out of the game.
What do you care if someone else is going carrying the other team. If for them they are lacking in teamwork then so be it. That doesn't have to effect how you work with your own team. If you have a carrier on your own team and he's simply way better than you, then you offer him combat support or protect his flanks while he's maybe sniping others or going in for the rockets. I just think this complaint of yours can be said of a lot of multiplayer games. Even Starcraft 2 you'll have a player who just knows his stuff way more than others and it's obvious his teammates are just there to offer support.
At least in CoD without my team I only do decent. but if you have a good team I can do 40-2...In halo you really don't need a team you can basically go in rape and win the game by yourself and carry your team through.
Mm, I don't know. For me to play really well I like to have at least one other friend who will work with me. So if I'm playing a 5v5 game, I couldn't do a whole lot if none of my teammates ever talked to me. But if I got at least one friend, he and I can coordinate strategies while our other three teammates do whatever the hell they want.
Since when is Halo a game where you can go at it alone?
Halo, to me, works like this: You encounter someone, and its so damn easy to aim at them and shoot them, that most of the time its a paper scissor fight: that is, you have the tool and position advantage to win, or you don't.
You decide to step into a certain zone, out of cover but there's nobody to be seen. You walk 2 seconds and a sniper pops out on a balcony (vague example). What happens? You die. You turn a corner and someone is waiting here with a shotgun, or some other weapons. You die, unless you happen to have a shotgun.
The game is too slow and straightforward for normal encounters to have any meanings. Technically, I LOVE Halo for LANs because people are close and can easily strategize and communicate. But I don't play online to make online friends I never care about (especially when most are kids), and regardless, most people often refuse to work in team. Halo is a team game, and my matches were never so.
Why do I hate BR starts: Because BR are long range headshot weapons. Someone sees you first, unless you have cover VERY close, you're dead, you can't keep up, there's no skill in aiming and he unless he's quite bad, he will kill you first. Grenades add a level of comeback possibilities and trap, but beyond that...
How could I put this... here: Everytime I died in Halo, I felt like I wasn't at fault. I died and I could not have survived regardless of what I did. How is that fun? I'm an old school FPS player, I like to think that when I encounter someone in the battlefield, its about skill and not about weapon composition or luck.
I didn't even bring multiple peoples in the equation yet. Team VS Team in a firefight, there's definitively skill involved there. But lets say you meet 2 people. You're dead. Thats again, not fun. I also have no idea how you can retreat in most circumstances, again mostly because you're so slow.
My memory might be clouded, I have not played any Halo multiplayer in a long time. All I have to say in short is that: CoD and Halo are good team games. Otherwise, I feel like you have to fight like a coward to win, where the real skill is the entire team together and not the individuals. Great games for LANs or if you have a lot of online friends to coordinate your games, horrible for casual online play and individual fighting skill display.
I also have to comment on the custom games: Hum, what? Does Halo have a place you can host your custom games and people join, now? Because besides having a loads of friends in your friend list, I don't recall that being possible.
Well I care if someone on my team carries me because I like playing the game I don't want to sit there and do nothing. In cod you can't win unless you have good people who know how to play. In halo it is quite the opposite because the teams are smaller therefore you can't kill all those people and win because you killed the bad kids and not the good ones. In halo you have no choice but to kill the good kid who will ultimately beat you out. Other than that It really isn't that good of a game over hyped to shit boring as fuck after a while just like CoD is, Nowadays games just lack that lasting appeal. This is mostly due to the sheer amount of FPS' coming out. think about it Reach this month MoH next month Cod BO the month after... then you have your decision to make which to play first which you like more, then by the time you're bored of that one the other people who play the other games are bored of theirs and switch over and you end up not caring cause no one plays anymore anyway. The games have no lasting appeal and just outright suck in some situations.

Another thing i hate about halo. I have to shoot the guy four times before he dies. In CoD its takes 4 shots with an FAL silenced to do that. Without the silencer its 2 shots maybe 1 depending on if it is a headshot, oh and why isn't a headshot a one hit kill in halo.

In CoD everybody also sits in a corner and waits for people to run by them so they can spray them with the one terribly overpowered gun that is in every CoD game... jus' sayin'
