So, i was just checking http://diablo.incgamers.com/gallery/ , and i found on the `diablo 3 artwork - characters, some old concept arts for the Witch Doctor... like this one!
and i just realized, how awesome the WD could be if they actually stop and look back some of this old arts!
I mean, look at him, he looks so different from the now-a-days version, wich by the way, is more like an old and tired version of the one seen in the concept art!
And the same applys to the female version, also great in the arts, and the actuall model is far from being that perfect!
I personally love the idea of the WD being a frail guy who wears a big, awesome scary looking mask who has crazy powers to mess up the enemy with.
its not the mask, actually, the masks are great! but its body posture/language, and also, the gear, looks perhaps too clean, and natural, but the feel of that concept art is more like, the gear is falling apart almost, like a more
zombie related, or, blizzard should try to put some metal parts on the gear... i know it sounds strange, and might not fit at first... but thats the problem for me, they are taking too much base from actual exisiting tribal wear... trying to look too real and almost possible... and doing the opposite with the wizard for example... making the gear too over!
His not wearing plates because his item set seens to be kinda low level (even through blizz said it is intermadiate). The point is, he sets looks the worst at the moment (but i quite liked the female one).
But i hope he will look like a walking totem at higher levels.
I don't know what pic you are talking about because your link is broken. However, I think I know which pic you are talking about. I don't believe that is actually a concept art of the WD. That is why I hate incgamers. They post stuff as fact without knowing, such as the rogue class at the 2010 blizzcon. I think that the art is of an NPC or monster so hopefully we will still get to see this guy.

I like the new look as well. It kinda shows how different the WD will be from all the others. He doesn need strength or athleticism. He has got summons and black magic to do the work for him.
Thanks, yeah I'm not sure if it's official. The style doesn't look like Blizzard's usual concepts. He looks cool though, I wouldn't mind seeing that in game. If it's official this could be one of the armour tiers.
If we are talking about the guy Ophion posted, then I'm gonna go ahead and say he's definitely a bad guy concept.
As far as the CritterCutter picture goes, I think they steared away from that idea because it's so very close to a Warcraft style troll and because the old palsy guy has so much more character, feel and potential for backstory.

Yes, it's official.

first off the link is broken, can you repost it? If its what Critter and Ophion posted then I'll admit that its a nice rendering and character albeit does look like a WarCraft troll, but I like the newer model because it portrays an 'Elder' from the witch doctors tribe (forgot the name) who decides to make a stand for the betterment of his trube and you can always think of the other concepts as a younger, more fit version of the elder witch doctor if that works for you, they do look similar if not for the age gap.

I agree with feminism. I don't think that it's right that for every dollar a man makes, a women gets 70 cents. Why do I only get 30 cents and some chick gets the rest?

If I recall the main idea was that the witch doctor was supposed to have nerve damage for years of using and perfecting toxins in an effort to combat the demon hordes and the pigmy tribes in the jungles.
About 2/3 of the way down the page is the rough backround story. I couldn't find any real information besides speculation on why they twitch so much. But if you look at those crazy fanatics who charm poisonous snakes you'll notice they twitch in much the same manner.
It's also important to remember that it's an early concept art, most likely from the original art director who left because of the "rainbows" issue. On that topic I'd like to say, after watching the video of the barbarian release in 2008 it seemed plenty dark to me, the outside was well lit, and it was before other environmental effects went in like fog and rain. Honestly I don't really see what the big deal was, it looked fantastic to me and I was an avid player of Diablo I and II.

Well famine and disease struck and we now have a starved-looking character with parkinsonism.
I think he looks fine though- the body types for the monk, barb and WD have been well differentiated.
But i hope he will look like a walking totem at higher levels.

Although he appears younger here but his armour is dirty, or worn looking. Also, nice avatar Winter Night.
