Diablo II let us have secure trading within town, and that was great. But would trading on the go in Diablo III be as easy and effective? If you find an item with a group of people that another person wants to trade for, you don't want to get out of the battle and go to town, and certainly you don't want to just drop it and risk having it picked up by someone else, or risk not getting your item in the trade.
I know Blizzard said they wanted to try and keep us from going to town all the time, so I think this option shouldn't be overlooked.
I don't think it would take away from the gameplay. I could see some people getting upset if trades took too long to barter, but its not as if you can't control who you group with.
Personally I'd like to see better options for loot distribution, default it to free for all, but some other options could support better play and stop 'ninjaing' the better drops.
I suppose one of the issues that would come up, is what if you were killed in the middle of a trade? I suppose they could work some system out where the items in the trade screen would just go back to each player respectively upon death.
I wouldn't mind it- that way I wouldn't have to go back to town if I wanted to show my friend something in the midst of a party of people I don't know/trust.
@ the death scenario: They could make it where it can only open up if you're in a safe area- one that doesn't have monsters around- I guess

Until one of your "pal's" came screeching past you being chased by a horde of evil.
When you died in a trade screen and die you shall. It would be just like if someone hit the trade cancel button.
I think you would notice your life going down, and probably hear them anyway but if you somehow didn't, or it lagged, it would be as if the trade screen were never opened.
Now, what if your were killed just as you completed a trade? I think there are bug's and issues that make it far simpler to just trade in town, which is why it will probably be that way.
voted yes. it only takes away from the action if you stop to do it. this is ofcourse, assuming that ALL trading is done on the battlefield, getting rid of towns and their merchants, which i'm pretty sure blizzard isn't doing.

If they bring back TPs then it will take all of 2 seconds to get back into town, or if they change it so you can only TP when the area is safe then it wouldn't make a difference anyway, because I would assume that if they implemented out-of-town trading, the area would also have too be safe enough to make that TP
So the difference really is... is 2 seconds going to slow down the game?
Also, its easier too trade in town... because your stash is there
And it is a bit of a distraction from the mass carnage, I liked the small "piss breaks" we had in town, where you would re-stock, trade and sell before getting stuck in again
I can't really decide because, If you get an item lets say for a Witch doctor and its a very good item and your friend can use it you could get rid of it by trading to them and freeing a spot open in case something that you need drops. On the other hand it takes away from the action and if the TP is the same as D2 then there really is no point to trade in the middle of your adventures.
Trading in town would be for games that you make, to attract players to a particular item you are trading (assuming there won't be a marketplace/auctioning system). But I think that trading on the battlefield would be really easy to implement, and hey, why go to town and trade while you could be on the battlefield, still getting experience from the guys that are still killing?
You wouldn't be able to just drop your item to trade either, because you may get it stolen by another player, or the person you're trading with might scam you.
If I am playing with a few buddies and we are approaching a tough situation, it behouves me to make sure our group can survive. So if I want to give my buddy a potion in preparation for it, I don't want to have to go back to town just to exchange said potion. It's quicker to open up a trade, give him the potion, and get ready to kill.

I've come for your children - Your first born
I'm the monsta - The boogieman
So mothers be warned - But you give them up gladly
Why not? "It'll slow down the action!" So what? If two people who have also payed for the game just like everyone else decide they want to trade let them trade!
I definately vote no. I think we're all confusing trading with giving. I'm not sure how separate drop screens work yet for players dropping items but if you could drop the potion on the players portrait then problem solved. In terms of trading, who carries all their stuff with them in case they need to trade in the middle of a killing spree. Conclusion: giving = yes, trading = no.

What do you think? Yes or no? Explain.

People can just throw their gear around and exchange it that way.
BTW, the third option for the poll was priceless.

I wish we had FFA looting though instead of individual stuff.
