Hey guys. A follow-up to the popular stash tab "problem". So how many stash tabs do you actually need to be satisfied?
I personally want to empty my 15 mules and have some extra empty tabs as well. That would be around 20 tabs. So 20 tabs and i am absolutely happy. What about you?
The only thing this game need is a personal stash. One that change with your character. Sick and tired of taking out gear onto mules when i want to play another character. Make 4 personal stashes and one shared. Problem solved forever.
One stash per character. Keeping maybe 4 stashes as shared, that would be 16 overall (19 for CE owners). Due to some interface changes they could even reduce that, maybe 15 would be enough. But even 10 after season 8 are a joke given how many items there are in this game. This is a loot-based game (or it was once), but now the limited stash space makes us throw away good items (and eventually that means many people don't even pick them up) because they're "not part of the meta/cookie cutter build this season".
So yeah, I say 10-20, but I think it's not about the number, it's about revamping the system. Also, the interface for the additional tabs is absolutely ridiculously horrible

Simple as this. Maybe a different split because 1 shared tab would be filled with gems and mats in no time, but the only necessity is a personal stash per character.
Making everything shared was a nice idea (coming from D2), but it failed because it removed too much space.
I never had too much problems with my storage because i'm only attached to Demon Hunter and i keep the various sets updated while other classes only have one set of (bad) gear and i forget.
I have good memories of Torchlight's statsh system with one chest for your current character while another is shared so i think for D3 we could use 1 or 2 tabs per character with a 3-4 tabs for shared gear and materials?
Well, you could start by making mats-stacks bigger or even better make them like, accountwide, just like the bloodshards. Could easily safe a whole stashtab.
Poll lacks the option others have said: all we need is a personal stash. One personal tab can store all four sets and a range of legendaries specific to that character, with additional ones able to go into the usual shared tabs.
Right now I have every class and each one I'm not playing has a completely full inventory for their sets and special legendaries, and I have to keep one empty tab in stash to empty the inventory of the character I want to play into, and then do it all again if I want to play a different one. Just one personal tab would fix all of that.
Each toon owns the first 5 tabs all to themselves; they are character specific.
Switching over to the new window they introduced for the new tabs will have just one tab now, and that one is shared.
I'd love this because one tab isn't NEAR enough for one toon. Yes it can hold 4 sets, but there is not enough room at all for the supporting legendaries per set. Instead, having a whole 'page' per toon would be more than enough room, and if you want to switch items over just throw em in the shared tab.

This ^
Don't get me wrong, additional stash tabs are better than nothing, but this proposition (which has been around for quite a while) would not only be a storage solution, it would also be a noticeable QoL improvement.
But please do not make it so we need to play seasons to unlock it. Some of us are stuck with 6 tabs...
Why would you need char specific tabs anyway? Just have enough shared ones. Playing all classes and diffent chars per class I'd imagine it be hard to remember on what personal stash tab of what char this or that items might be that I'm looking for right now.
Make mats accountwide like shards. 1 tab for Gems. 5 tabs per class.

Well in my argument at least, it makes it FAR more simple, AND it'd be more space technically with less clutter on the stash.
'Enough' shared ones would be somewhere in the vicinity of like 18 tabs; 3 tabs each for 6 toons. But that's such a huge UI mess. I'd much rather see 5 personal tabs per character, and a shared slot so we can avoid D2's drop-and-hope-no-one-steals. This means that no matter what character you're playing, your stash only has 6 total tabs, so the UI is kept clean. You've got 5 whole tabs JUST to that character, which should be enough for 13x4 items (a full set of items for each class set) and then some off items for LoN or what have you. And if you're making a new toon, just throw the gear you want to use in the shared to switch over. I'd personally use that one shared tab to keep all my crafting mats in.
Essentially we need more tabs, and a less clunky way of implementing them. My vote is on 5+1 for every character created.
How many stash tabs do I need to be satisfied? All of them!
I don't think more stash tabs is the solution to the stash problem. Sure, you could just make infinite stash tabs, and that would solve one problem, but lead to other problems (usability, for example). When you need an excel sheet to manage your items because you have so many stash tabs, it's not a good QoL feature anymore to have so many of them.
I could easily handle 20+ tabs by just giving them their respective class icons. That would have the same effect as a combination of personal and shared stash tabs.
More stash tabs is not the solution, just like more dmg is not the solution to a build that's not fun to play.
Not the solution for what? A lack of space? It most certainly is the solution to that. And it's not just a small QoL-thing. The space technically enables you to enjoy classes #3-6 (assuming that the current space is ok to play both Int-classes for example).
In my case, it's often not the limited stash that holds me back from using different builds. It's the trouble of changing builds itself. Find all those items in your stash, change sockets, change skills, change paragon, change cube. It's annoying.
I know that too well. The workaround for that is simple: Create a new char for each build. At least that is very easy these days, even solo. Still won't work if you intend to play too many classes or different modes.
Btw, did they advertise this correctly? Like "Play one of six character classes" -> 60 euros; "Play two of six character classes" -> 120 euros yadda, yadda?
I don't even fully use the ones we already have. I've unlocked the stash tab every season, mainly just because I can, not because I need to. I only ever play one class, and one build, so 3 tabs is often plenty for me, and all the rest lay empty and gather dust until the end of the season.
As it stands I have at least one of each character and which ever character I'm playing at the time which sometimes might be the whole season, the other one's are used as mules to carry their own class specific pieces.
I'll admit if Blizz are going to introduce new, buffed or re worked items each season then it only stands that they need to make it easier to add stash tabs as it is themselves who are encouraging the hoarding of more and more stuff.

I think about 30. I play all 6 classes, 5 page per class would be a blast.

Make mats accountwide like shards. 1 tab for Gems. 5 tabs per class.
One tab per class/sets (6),
one for materials/gems/hellfire machines(organs)(1),
and three for orange legendaries, organiized by slot location.(hands/helm etc.)
Although I currently have a tab filled with nothing but jewelry...
At least that's what I'm aiming for...at one tab per class and two characters per class, that should be adequate.

Emmo#2406
Tab 1 - Crafting Mats/Keys/Machines/Organs/Etc.
Tab 2 - Gems
Tab 3 - Legendary Gems
Tab 4-9 - Set Tab for each Class
Tab 10-15 - Class Specific Legendaries for each Class
Tab 16-18 - Non-Class Specific Legendaries
Tab 19-20 - Legendaries to be Cubed
The number of tabs, as is, limits the amount of classes I believe you can fully play.
Each class with 4 armor sets and requisite MH, OH or 2x 1H weapons requires almost 2 full pages.
Since we never know what spec may be FOTM re-gearing it sucks to have to have inventory as a concern.
Even in WoW with full bank tabs and 28+ slot bags, transmog etc and profession mats I was seemingly pressed for space.
This problem could be eliminated with 2-3 common tabs and the rest available per character.
As it stands I have at least one of each character and which ever character I'm playing at the time which sometimes might be the whole season, the other one's are used as mules to carry their own class specific pieces.
