I know no one can play, but i know some people love finding ways to get it early so they can enjoy time unboxing them, reading the books, watching the DVDs etc.
In Toronto i knew a store that would sell games up to a week early simply cause they didnt know but now I live in Edmonton so i don't know any places that do here.
I don't condone street date breaking normally (for PS3/XBOX etc) since you can legit play it early, but this is simply to enjoy contents of the box since midnight = game is live and ppl just want to install and dont get time to enjoy, so anyways,
No and don't want anyone to find one either. The internet will immediately be flooded with thousands of posts regarding the spoilers the booklets, etc contained. I have no desire to know all of that yet.

It already is. We already know what every single boss is going to be, etc, etc. You just (understandably) aren't looking. I know someone who is the manager at a game store nearby who breaks the rules because he's a slimy bastard and opens all the early releases he's gonna buy and just dips out with the contents leaving the box under the counter to pay for on release.

No, I've looked. Trust me. I can't resist a spoiler. The thing is, everything has NOT been released. Otherwise spoiler threads won't be popping up left, right and centre.

This guy needs to quit going into threads and posting that EVERYTHING has been spoiled. In fact...in the one topic where he thought he "pwned" us...he said that the RETAIL VERSION of D3 had been decrypted and spoilers were readily available. He linked us to the lmgtfy...guess what...this guy can't even read the word BETA.

Obvious troll is obvious. I am close to buying the Book of Cain to hold me over. Has anyone read it yet?

Book of Cain is astounding. An amazing read. Though short and to the point it paints a huge picture for the story. Mind you there are some slight discrepancies with what you see and read in the BoC and the lore provided by the games and also the other books. This is due to the fact it is meant to be a collection of other peoples works compiled by cain added with his own perspective, so nothing should be taken as complete truth besides the stuff know to us, like there are 7 prime evils, etc...

No it's not. As a book? Poor as hell.
It's good if you're a diablo fan who enjoys lore. I enjoyed it as a sub-part of a fun universe.
The book per si is really freaking bad.

Everyone to thier own mate, I actually enjoyed it to and It filled in lore gaps for me. I have played both d1 and d2 for many years but the only story stuff I gathered was from actually playing the game.
Just one example I didn't even know how sanctuary came to be, which the book of cain heavily informed me on.

well That's what I was aiming for.I didn't expect some world class literature, I expected a lore book that would fulfill my lore needs. nothing more nothing less. anyone thinking otherwise is just not in their right mind.

Oh it's you again. I'm still waiting for those datamined RETAIL clients. Anytime you want to pony up the evidence.. I'll be over here.. just waiting.

Okay everything thats out right now, is from the Beta. the only thing datamined from retail is the game launcher pictures. All the boss info, which I would think you're talking about this(Do not click that if you don't know what it is.. it has every boss in files during beta) Is not from the retail client. If that thing was datamined, it would be EVERYWHERE

The book looks great and gives a lot of important information but it's not Shakespeare :/ It should be written in a more old-fashioned way...since it was Deckard who wrote it.
it's not exactly fan-fiction, butt it's definitely "game-fiction". Just like how Advent Children couldn't stand on its own as an anime, anything diablo-story related probably wouldn't stand on its own as a story. You need to play the games to get into it, seeing as though there's a portion of fan-service shoved into it. You can disagree with me if you like, but even what we know about the Diablo 3 storyline seems to have been victimized in the name of fan-fiction.
Throwing former Diablo names, references and even characters like decard cain into the mix so early just seems like fan service. For instance, did we really need Decard Cain to return in this game? Better yet, did we need him to return during the very start of Act 1? It was interesting saving him in Diablo 2, but it feels like a cliche rerun saving him again, just for the sake of saving him.
Diablo 2 had Decard and Tristram return from Diablo 1, and it had references to the character classes in it's plotline, but nothing else. Every else was unique to the series. Now in Diablo 3, we immediately have Decard, Tristram and the cathredral with Leoric from the older games up front, PLUS other possible settings like Diablo 2's Act 2 and Act 5. Sometimes, revisiting the same old characters and settings multiple times just comes off as corny fan-service when you think about it.

While I agree on some points, I disagree on some others. Deckard is pivotal in this game, He's the final Horadrim and they are super important in the lore. Not only that he's the only one who's experienced the last two tragedies lived, and documented it all. So he's more of an info source that is really needed than just any old throwback.
Tristram is also pivotal because It is where Diablo himself was buried before Diablo 1 by the Horadrim in his soulstone. and leoric is just as important for he was the one who was corrupted and ultimately the one who freed diablo from his imprisonment.
Act 5 Is SUPER important, It's where sanctuary started. The very thing that created the world sanctuary was stationed there, and it has since been blown to smitherines and on top of that it is where the legions of hell will rise from. Sure you could travel to Skovos, or xiansi but the problem with that is there isn't anything pivotal there for the Diablo team to use yet. They already have specific places with specific backstories, why not re-use them to your advantage. It expedites the process of creating an entire new lore for an area, and makes the game more recognizable to it's fans and people who have seen the other games. Overall it is probably just a throwback, but using these throwbacks have their perks and they far outweigh the cons. I would hate it if i had to create an entire backstory for numerous amounts of places when I already have a select few that are important in the lore already at my fingertips.
