I just wrote like three pages of a reply and the forums lost it when I clicked Preview. ... *cry*
Ok what it boiled down to was:
Read my previous post. It seems like some people glossed over it.
I'm happy most of you are happy about the change, and I know you're going to love the game.
Those few of you who don't like it, you'll love the game too because you're wrong.
Item pools are not limited by Act, or Boss, or anything like that. While you'll have a better chance to get better items in Act IV Inferno, you could get those same items in Act I, or even Hell.
Our item pool philosophy is that you can break an urn and get the best item in the game - it's all a matter of chance. Running more difficult areas and taking on more difficult enemies will not always be the most efficient way to find upgrades.
Previously, Inferno difficulty was mlvl 61 across all of Inferno, and now it starts at mlvl 61 and ramps up quickly in Act I and ends somewhere around 65 (?) in Act IV. We've only increased the difficulty.
I'm aware of internal bets on how many months it will take someone to beat Inferno.
A flat Inferno of mlvl 61 had a small curb of difficulty, and once that was over you had nowhere else to progress and no reason to. That's boredom.
Boredom doesn't generally come from content repetition, it comes from lack of ability to progress, or ease of progression.
By having a sharp increase in difficulty in Inferno we can encourage progression without having a brick wall of difficulty.
I think that was about it. In any case, as I said, I know the vast majority of you are excited about the game, the change we made, and trying to progress in Inferno. Just don't feel bad when you have to go back to Hell.
Edit:
Bashiok has said the following via Twitter as well:
Its going to be good. Dont forget you have to get past hell first. I think alot of people are forgeting that meesaa thinks

Just because the mobs are still level 61 means absolutely NOTHING!!! A swing and a miss champ.
There are level 60 mobs in Hell, so obviously they have to increase the level for inferno. However, that doesn't mean entry into inferno wasn't nerfed, not even in the slightest.
I have to hand it to blizzard. A lot of people criticize their PR ability, but the truth is they are damn near geniuses at it. Look at this most recent statement for example. There is a lot of turmoil within the population about inferno being nerfed, which is the truth, but that statement slyly makes one think otherwise. End result, less QQ nerfed inferno rage and the best part is its not even a real lie. They told you the truth, but in a way to give you the wrong idea. Of course when the game comes out, no one is going to care about a little white lie. It is brilliant!
"There’s a wide variety of players out there and we wanted to make sure everybody had something to sink their teeth into. We expect that anybody with enough time and dedication will reach level 60. But the jump in difficulty to Inferno needed to be different amounts for different people. For the crazy people they need a HUGE ramp in difficulty, for a more “casual but still hardcore” audience you want an obvious but milder increase in difficulty. So for the crazy people who play non-stop they’ll hit Act I and get a challenge, but 1 month later they’ll still have something to work on (Acts II, III and IV). For the “hardcore-casual” they will reach level 60 later and not get brick walled when they reach Inferno. They can experience some “small victories” working on Act I with the dream of maybe someday reaching the later acts.
Longevity. We know people really want goals to work towards and challenges to overcome. We made Act III and Act IV really, really brutally hard, for the most elite players only. It felt wrong to make ALL of Inferno that brutally hard."
It was nerfed to allow access and progression to more players.
That wording is crystal clear, and there is ZERO room for interpretation.

i dont understand how they can think that it will take months to beat inferno, if some1 is extremly lucky in hell with drops and buy items from ah for alot of money, considering that you can have the best eq from hell that means that some1 can have full TOP items after 1 day in hell and then with top items its just a matter of build and strategy and it wont take months to figure out
...You realize that other people have to find said items and not want to use them for themselves right? You guys seem to think the items are magically created. You're also over-estimating how many people who would sell said items instead of keeping them.

Not sure if you're just ignoring the entirety of his post and using it for your own agenda - but it's quite clear what he means. Act I was altered to make entry into Inferno more easy. That wasn't the debate, nor has it ever been the debate. The debate was about Act III and Act IV. People believed that the later acts were also nerfed.
Also: If you actually read his quote - he never said the entirety of Act I was nerfed. He just said in a general manner that Act I had been nerfed. For all you know it's only the first half that was nerfed. He did specifically say that it was done so people could EXPERIENCE a little bit of it.

Check and mate.
I read the entire blue post, lol. How could anyone think they nerfed it entirely?
"We made Act III and Act IV really, really brutally hard... It felt wrong to make ALL of Inferno that brutally hard."
Obviously that means that Act III was at least as hard as the whole of inferno used to be, and with a progressive system that meant that Act IV had to be even harder than the previous inferno mode.
So idk, who could have possibly thought the whole of inferno was nerfed....I mean you would have to be an fairly dense not to understand that.
Also as I said before, increasing monster level doesn't prove anything, other than a game that progresses in difficulty. But we already knew that, he is just telling us what we already knew lol. The level 61 diablo might have kicked the level 65 diablo's ass.

Is there a reason to argue whether the content has been nerfed or left alone? What we get at launch is what we get, and seeing as how none of us have experienced the previous versions of inferno, and all we have to go on as to what it was like before were vague wordings from blizzard, who's to say what changed and what that means for the gameplay.
...You realize that other people have to find said items and not want to use them for themselves right? You guys seem to think the items are magically created. You're also over-estimating how many people who would sell said items instead of keeping them.
I realize it sir, thats why i said extremly lucky and almost everybody is going to sell top items thats not for their class so that point is legit and its just going to happen you know, maybe not a full top items in a day but someone somewhere is going to have the best equipement in the game in a less then a week and if he's a good player than he's going to beat inferno pretty soon, well that is if inferno is beatable in top eq if not than its just another story where they just make it unbeatable to prove their point and then nerf it in patch
If the fool would be happy enough to spend $2,000 in the first 7 days of the game launching - then let him.

Go read the topics about Inferno. I'd say about half of the forum-goers here thought all of Inferno was nerfed.
Edit: And my specific argument was towards them. Not those of us that fully acknowledge that entry into Inferno was altered into a linear progression.

That is precisely what I am saying. People cry nerf when they read something simple about Inferno being changed so it was linear. Bashiok cleared it up - I linked it hear so people would shut the holy hell up and quit whining :).
If the fool would be happy enough to spend $2,000 in the first 7 days of the game launching - then let him.
that is my whole point man thats why i dont understand how blizz can think that it will take months, which leads me to a conlucsion that it might be just a little bit too hard you know, that it will be almost unbeatable even in full best items, im gathring that from everything they said but we'll see, my whole point is that inferno is going to fall in less then 2 weeks ( if its even possible to beat it ) to someone with money and luck
edit: and it might not even be a single person, there are going to be groups of people supporting an individual to complete inferno like Athene for example and there will be alot others
I think you're over-estimating the ease of acquiring amazing items. Think about it. You have what, like a .002% chance for a rare to drop? It can randomly have 3-6 affixes. Do the math for 3-6 to roll - then after that - calculate all of the affixes it can have.
Your chances of getting a decent to great item are actually astronomically low.
This is for the entire player base. I'd say we'll be playing for about 2 months before we start seeing a lot of great items.
