I have a feeling a lot of people might have thought about this idea but have not made a forum post about it. There should be a way to stop a character's leveling at level 60. I'm sure many people, as I do, have legacy items they just don't want to get rid of and/or maybe keep using them in the future. World of Warcraft has a way to stop experience gain at whatever level you like, and I think it would be fantastic if that was available in diablo for people who purchased the expac who would like an option to stay at 60 if they had the choice. Thoughts? Opinions?

I agree with you, I think it would be a brilliant idea for them to add this. This was a feature of Diablo 2 that they could bring back and I really see no downsides to it. If you havent already I would reccomend posting it on the official forums as a suggestion (Unless there is another post about this there then post under that to show intrest!).
I guess some people might like the idea, but honestly if they ever allow that I hope its like their priority #1123. There's a bunch of other features that are more wanted than this, but yeah since its an addition and not a modification I'm fine with that.
Please correct me if I am missing something, but what forbids you yo use lvl60 or legacy items post lvl60? If you can wield lvl50 weapon while being lvl60 why you can't use lvl60 gear after reaching lvl70...?
While you can use the level 60 gear at 70, you will be fighting level 70 mobs.
What he suggests is be able to cap yourself at "Classic" Diablo 3 level cap of 60 so that your level 60 gear remains as effective as ever while having other characters that are able to go to 70 at the same time.

I guess the OP meant to be "stuck" pre-RoS with a character more precisely, thats what I understood.
Being stuck at 60 would kinda exclude you from ever progressing your paragon level, since it requires level 70. Why not just use your legacy items and turn down the difficulty to normal to balance for the lack of item progress. But again I dont really understand why anyone would want to purposely handicap and exclude themselves of any new content just to cling onto items that are basically obsolete after midnight tonight.
I personally wouldn't do it myself as I quite enjoy a new level cap and kind of a fresh start at level 70, all new gear and such. However I can understand people wanting to be able to cap at 60 as well, just equipping level 60 items and switching to normal at 70 won't really suffice scaling changes as well among other problems.
While I don't see a "classic" mode as something too hard to implement as someone else said, it really shouldn't be a priority to implement.
to add to this, at lvl 70 there are reductions on gear that are +/- 22 levels. Even if you were unable to earn paragon if you stopped exp at level 60, having such op items would be a blast
Uhhhh stupidest idea ever, what's the point? Why not stay at 50? 40? Oh yeah, because there's no reason to. The game revolves around end game, max level farming- staying 60 is shooting yourself in the foot. All of your arguments for it are poor- you want to wear your 60 gear? Why? What for? Looks? Transmog it. Strength? 70 is stronger. Feelings of attachment? Keep the crap in your stash or make an alt to wear it. I don't see why you're trying to drag a concept from WoW into Diablo when it's a totally different game that isn't locked by levels.
Just because they have a feature in WoW doesn't mean it makes sense in this game (since that's literally all your argument is based off), staying 60 is the stupidest thing you could do if you actually have an interest in playing this game. Are you too lazy to cap and farm for gear? I'm sorry, that's kind of what this game is about.
Sorry but I would vote no to this. This would benefit such a small amount of people as well as take away resources for development of other features that it would be a waste of time. If you want to stay at 60 then don't upgrade to RoS.

Waaa hooo whhooo wha?
Sorry but your biggest argument was that the feature is in WoW so it shouldn't be here?
I REALLY hate to break it to you but it was in Diablo 2 wayyy before WoW.
People keep saying this option to stop at a certain level was in Diablo 2... Are u sure? Because I don't remember this at all, can someone clear this up for me?

I never understood how people could read but not comprehend things? Wipe those eye boogers out and reread, it's not my argument

Yeah, i don't remember this either. You could stop using your attributes and skill points I guess but you would still get experience and continue to level.
In D2 once the expansion hit, you had the option to make each character upgradeable to LoD. I kept a few characters in the standard D2 so i could play with friends who hadn't bought LoD.
The only problem I see with this is the shared stash in D3. Maybe characters not upgraded could not use items/loot from RoS. Don't know. I actually hadn't even thought about this scenario because I just assumed it would the same way D2 did. Probably won't though.

this isn't what hes asking though, hes asking for all the bonuses of RoS (new legendaries, bounties, rifts, adventure mode, crusader etc.) but with lv 60 remaining the max cap so that he doesn't have to re-gear.
Waste of dev time. Also it was never like what the OP is asking in D2, if you stick to a classic character it didnt stop leveling, it simply did not have access to the new content. The OP is asking for the reversal, not level and have access to new content, not happening.

Absolutely, completely, spot-on.
