So I just got an update of a picture of the computer with most of the hardware inside. It put a huge smile on my face and I had to share it with someone.
I posted it in the other thread but I thought I would get asked whats inside so I'll put it in here to.
Computer:
CPU: Dual x5690 @ 4.23Ghz
GPU: Tri SLI EVGA GTX 580 Hydro Coopers
RAM: Mushkin Enhanced Redline 12GB DDR3 1600(6x4GB) total 24GB
MOBO: EVGA SR-2
PSU: Thermaltake Toughpower 1200w 80PG
HardDrives: (1)Western Digital VelociRaptor 600GB UPDATE: (1)Intel 510 SSD 250GB (2)Western Digital Caviar Black 1.5TB
CD Drives: Dual Asus Blu-Ray burners
CASE: Corsair Obsidian 800D
MONITOR+RES: Dell UltraSharp 30" / 2560 x 1600
Cooling:
Dual EK Supreme HF High Flow Red CPU Waterblock
XSPC Extreme Performance 360MM Radiator for GPU Loop
Black Ice GT Stealth Radiator 360mm for CPU Loop
Dual Alphacool 655 Pumps
EK Dual Bay Spin Reservoir
Dual Temperature Sensor / Flow Sensor
Lamptron 4 channel Fan Controller 30W per channel
(8) AeroCool Shark High Performance 120mm Fans - Red
(1) AeroCool Shark Black 140mm Fan
Wow, congrats man. I really like the look of that mobo. That corsair case is a monsterish looking thing too!
I also envy your video card. I think I should've held out and saved my money more to buy the GTX 500 series. But I think for now anyway, and for D3 my 460 will work just fine.
Might I ask how much you paid for that VelociRaptor harddrive? It seems a bit overpriced based on what I'm seeing for it. Maybe you got a deal on it. How comparable would you say it is to the Seagate Momentus XT?

Velocirapters aren't good for your money. The Velocirapter has slightly better random access times, but the Samsung F3 1TB beats it in reads/writes almost across the board. Realistically it is better to get 2 F3s in RAID 0 instead of 1 Velocirapter.
As far as Velocirapter vs SSD, it is night and day. The SSD is on an entirely different level. SSDs are a new experience, and I haven't come across anything that could change your computer more than an SSD could and once you get one you will never go back.
Also, I would suggest against these "hybrid" hard drives as they don't match the performance or feel of an SSD, and are as costly as a good 64GB SSD (as a boot drive). The only real reason I see a reason for these is for laptops that can only hold 1 HDD.
That case is one sexy thing, but I couldn't recommend it for AIR cooling (based on performance), as it is lacking in that department. But it is a water coolers heaven.

Very nice build, so you have a 360 for the CPUs and a 360+120 for the GPUs? I have to ask what type of temps you are getting on the GPUs. Also, I question what in the world are you doing to need all of that (unless just pure overkill).
The only criticism I could possibly add to this build is you need some right angle compressions for in between the 2 CPUs (assuming your pumps are in 2 different loops, it shouldn't hurt your flow rate at all)
I actually did go with the hybrid in my machine. I figured, well, it's faster at least than a 10,000 rpm. And what it lacks in comparison to a pure ssd, at least it still has a 500 gig overall capacity. So there's enough space of the ssd part of it to run the OS off of anyway.
I don't know, I paid 100 bucks for it and I don't have any buyer's remorse yet. If anything, when I get a pure ssd I'll just take the hybrid out of my desktop and put it in my laptop to boost its performance. So really it's just a stepping stone of sorts.
You say this guy's case ain't ideal for air cooling? There's like 3 top mounted fans on the inside though. No good?
I was going to get the OCZ 480g SSD but it was like $1800 so me and the builder thought it was better to get the VR HDD. I will probably change from the VR to an SSD later on when I get more money.
On the cooling, IDK yet because I don't have the computer yet. The builder is supposed to be making a build video so you guys can see everything then. The computer is going to be used for work mostly but I told him I wanted to game with it as well. Yea it's probably little overkill but that's how I roll . They are dual looped.
I'm hoping to have it maybe sometime next week. The builder has 2 other builds he's doing at the same time. One of which makes mine look like a POS.
I'm actually unfamiliar with that line of intel processor. What is it? The Xeon? Is that like something different than the i series of processors? How much is all this costing you?
You can go on NewEgg and add it up. With the computer, monitor, chair , CAD program, and some other stuff. It's well over $15k. We have to also buy a $50k 3d prototyping printer. So the computer is probably one of the smaller expenses.
Blimey! And here I am feeling proud of the 1100 dollar rig I just finished putting together. If you're so rich then, can you at least send me that delicious looking pizza?

Curious, What type of work do you do mate? Your computer build looks awesome, Your video card will kick ass in any game

You know its going to be a good day when you enter a corner sideways.
It looks straight up great, I love your cable management and all the lights and the colour scheme, a lot of thought and planning went into this machine and it makes me happy to nerd out over it!

Thanks. You can't really tell right now but all the wires are going to be sleeved in black and red.

I just remembered that he built a computer for someone that is using the external cooler I was going to get(http://www.koolance.com/water-cooling/product_info.php?product_id=1172) and it was running at 34C. I hope I am somewhere near that. I'll let you know when it's done.
