The following is my PC build mainly for Diablo 3 and another 5+ years of computing. I do not plan on overclocking anything and the only thing I am missing is an after market cooling for the CPU and maybe some case fans. Is after market necessary for this type of build if I do not plan on over-clocking everything?
Western Digital Caviar Black WD1001FALS 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive
COOLER MASTER HAF 922 RC-922M-KKN1-GP Black Steel + Plastic and Mesh Bezel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
ASUS DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS Black SATA 24X DVD Burner - Bulk - OEM
OS - Windows 7 Professional most likely
Total so far is under 1200$.
Any thoughts or opinions are appreciated. But please if its ATI or AMD related don't bother posting I am sticking with Intel/Nvidia so keep your criticism relative to this build.
you want to go with an i5 2500k instead of the 2500. so you can oc later when you need it. you don't need aftermarket on some models. check newegg.com customer reviews. there will always be lots of bad products and a few good ones.

I originally was going to go with the 2500k but I really don't plan on over-clocking anything.
If I were you I'd get a SSD drive as well, or at least two different SATA drives. I'm allergic to installing my games on the same physical drive I've got my OS on.
I have another drive for my OS, it's like some rando 500g or something I have laying around.
Looks like a great build to me, although with that processor(all new computers really) I would advise getting 2 hard drives and installing a raid 0. Your computer will run a lot faster this way.

Hey there all, I'm looking for a little help trying to order a PC wich specs sufficient to play D3 comfortably (I don't necessarily mind about all the graphics options having to be on their highest) for under £500. Sadly the budget is very tight as I have a wedding to save for :/
My knowlege of PC tech and specs is very limited, if not pretty non-existent, so I was hoping someone might be able to steer, guide or otherwise push me in some good directions. Anyway, here is what I've been toying around with on a site I found where you can customise the specs:
-Processor (CPU)
AMD PHENOM II X2 565 (3.40GHz/6MB CACHE/AM3) - BLACK EDITION
-Motherboard
ASUS® M5A78L-M/USB3: M-ATX, USB 3.0, SATA 3.0Gb/s
-Memory (RAM)
8GB SAMSUNG DDR3 DUAL-DDR3 1333MHz (2 X 4GB)
-Memory - 1st Hard Disk
500GB WD CAVIAR BLACK WD5002AALX, SATA 6 Gb/s, 32MB CACHE (7200rpm)
-Power Supply
450W Quiet 80 PLUS Dual Rail PSU + 120mm Case Fan
This is all the stuff I thought might be of specific interest or need for upgrade, obvioulsy it comes with more, and the total is £476.00 inc. VAT. The webiste is http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk
Now, from what I can tell this rig would be ok for running the game on mediumish settings, but I was wondering if there were any glaring mistakes/things that need addressing? For example, is the graphics card ok? Can I potentially downgrade something, save myself some money and still be able to invite my family to the wedding?
Any help or advice would be very much appreciated
GPU? you must have an ok video card. id recommend a simple "Radeon HD6850" should work fine.
i use 2x 5850 and a single 5850 is considered stronger then a 6850, but by like 5%. a simple 6850 will run diablo 3 easy as so should my 5850.
just invested in a new pc. i wasnt going to at first but now i am..
Previous PC=Intel core 2 quad q9300 2.5ghz 4gb ram., 620gig hard drive, ati 5770hd, win 7 64bit
New PC= win7 professional 64bit. XPS 8300
Intel® Core™ i7-2600 processor(8MB Cache, 3.4GHz)
12gb dual channel ddr3 sdram at 1333MHz,
2TB 7200rpm sata3 64mb cache hard drive,
Blu-ray Combo Drive (8X BD-R, DVD+/-RW) with DVD+R double layer write capability
Nvidia® Geforce® GT530
im sure its over the top for d3 but what you all thing for everything else like elder scrolls 5 and such? thanks
So, I ordered a new keyboard a few days ago. A Logitech Wireless K750 to be specific. And I gotta say I love it. Anyway, I got it yesterday, but when I was at the post office picking up the package, it was a suspiciously big and heavy package. When I got home and opened it, I found not only my keyboard, but also an ASUS GeForce GTX580 DirectCUII, which I didn't pay for. As you can imagine, I was a bit surprised!
So, I was thinking that if the people at the store I bought it from don't notice their mistake, I'll keep the thing and build a new computer. And this brings me to my reason for posting here. I don't really know much about component compatibility. Is there anything important I need to keep in mind (aside from the GPUs massive size) when choosing a motherboard, a CPU, etc.? I assume some component types/brands work better together than others. I also assume the importance of this varies with each component.
Could you guys give me some pointers - specifically with the GPU I mentioned in mind - as to what I should be looking for?
just built my back in April.. Hoping to run this shit with everything maxed w/ no problems at all

Oh and it was 1,600 w/o monitor, but free xbox360
Nice looking computer but man u could have built something just as good for alot less... but regardless that should last u awhile... although i would watch out with that 600w power-supply. also does it just have a stock cpu cooler... if so thats another thing to watch out for
before i learned how to build my own setup ( which is very easy btw ) i bought a couple main stream brand desktops and always had problems w/ the power-supplys and stock cpu cooler.. one was HP to lol
i know its the 24 inch antiglare flat panel LED.. the contrast ratio is 12,000,000:1
That's the exact same as mine then. But I think mine is 23 inches. I'm saving up for the other Acer one that is 27 inches. I think they're pretty good monitors. I kind of hate the controls on them for adjusting the brightness and contrast though.
Total so far is under 1200$.
