I nor you get to decide "how diablo is supposed to be played", blizzard does...
I disagree, wholeheartedly. The game is supposed to be played as the players wishes it to be played.

That's like; you thought a movie you saw was funny, but the director said after the show; "You are not allowed to think it's funny, it's supposed to be serious!", so you don't.
I actually see modern game-making as a mix of both ;)

When done by a serious company, game developing has a very healthy mix of limitations imposed by the developer (which are exactly what makes the game what it is) and feedback by the playebase (which prompts the devs to discuss that feedback, iterate on it, and promote changes).

You need the feedback so that you can change the challenges presented in game (and its rewards) to what players feel like a "fair game". And you need the devs limitations because otherwise every single game would just be a sandbox out there. Some directionis always good.

A lot of people could be already doing "Bounties" on their own on vanilla, with no guidance, but once the developer comes out and say "look, do this and get this very minor/different reward" suddenly everyone loves the feature and is going to explore the entire game.

No, Rift Fragments drop independent on your level, and you can use Rift Keys to open Rifts on the level that you are, and do them normally, from what I remember from the RoS beta (when leveling my Crusader).

Pretty sure of that at least, don't quote me on it though, since I'm a half asleep zombie right now =|

@Shurgosa I wouldn't really call it the players "fault", as a negative thing. It's just how people like to play games.

Some people like to be competitive even when sitting with a group of friends drinking some fucking beer. "Yo dawg, look.. I can drink 5 more beers than you.." - to which a normal's person answer usually is "who gives a fuck?"

But that doesn't change how people are. People like to compete. And people need to realize that some change every now and then is both good for these competitive players and to normal players as well (despite how bad the change might actually be, if that makes sense).

Why can't people ever perceive things as just being "changed" instead of being "nerfed" or "buffed".

It's how a lot of changes in MOBAS are perceived, and most reasonable players are just fine with that.
That's because there is a reason to change/balance things in multiplayer games (especially if there's e-sport involved). Not the case here with Diablo 3, being pretty much singleplayer game with zero competition over anything. That's why it's so frustrating.
I tend to agree. I personally don't play Diablo 3 like that.

But if you can't see the slightest competitive element in how people play Diablo 3, then it's hard for you to understand why they do it. Because that's how people play even PvE single-player games nowadays (specially ones with an online community and huge hype).

It's simply how things work in modern gaming (I don't like it, but it is what it is), and people need torealize that changes like those won't really harm anyone and add to the game more than subtracting.

If you think about it, Even in these last 2-3 days before RoS, these more hardcore players can have fun finding the next "best place for leveling up" and to show everyone, and the regular players can have fun farming whatever they wantwithout feeling like they're greatly gimping themselves(which is the biggest argument here).

It's how a lot of changes in MOBAS are perceived, and most reasonable players are just fine with that. Usually the developer will let everyone use the OP thing for a while (as Blizzard usually does as well, unless it's infinitely broken - and as they have let us do for the past 2~ weeks with CotA/Core/Mother/Mira runs), then change things. It's called a change in the metagame. For better or for worse, at least it's a change of pace.

Or please tell me if you all still wanted to be farming Act 2 Maghda Resplendent Chests 2 years after the game launched? Or farming only Act 3 for the past year and a half for exp (instead of Fields of Misery and Weeping Hollow/CotA)?

It's not the end of the world. If you were having fun before by just playing the game, you can still have fun after it for just playing the game.

See it as you will, but at least from my point of view I don't get frustrated every time something changes (Archon, WotB, rewards, leg drop ratio, etc.)

posted a message on DiabloFans CLAN (US) - Application Thread

March 2015 Update: The latest update to the clan status has been given both in-game (through clan news) and in my post at the last page (quoted below).

    Quote from Zero(pS)

It has been almost a year since Reaper of Souls launched, and since we did a clan reset. It has been an amazing journey, and I'd like to thank for everyone who took part in it with us.

That said, with the game approaching its next big content Patch (2.2) soon™, I believe we need a more active roster, and I'll work to get more people into the clan and make it an awesome social experience once again - with all kinds of players and groups available more often.

Quite a few players have been removed from the current roster (anyone inactive for more than 30 days). But if you want to come back, you're always welcome.

I will unstick this thread, and close it. The next "application" thread will not require any detailed applications, but rather be a place where people can leave their BTags and preferred play-style. And the catch will be that if the clan is full, inactive players (offline for more than x days) will be removed to make place for new members. Keep an eye out if you want to come back!

August 2014 Update:You might have noticed that there is no longer an application thread for the EU part of the clan. That is because Bagstone and some other officers there are analysing in-game applications as they log in. Since I haven't been very active lately, I've decided to keep this thread up in order to manage the US part of the clan. At least for now. IMPORTANT NOTICE: If anyone is having issues requesting an invite or finding the clan in-game, send me a PM and I will manually add you to the clan (by adding you to my friends list -> inviting). Please post here (and only here) if you want to apply for the Dfans clan on US. Since the Dfans clan is almost constantly at the limit, note the following rules:

    • Applications will be dealt with on an individual case-by-case basis.
    • There is no guarantee that we can accept your application in the immediate future, as the number of applicants is always greater than the number of available spots.
    • Forum membership might result in a higher probability of becoming a member; note that this is not determined by number of posts, but based on a subjective quality assessment.
    • Do not send any moderators or officers private messages on this forum or in-game messages on this board, unless asked to.
    • In-game applications to the clan will immediately be rejected; we will invite you or tell you to apply once we accept your application.

We want the DiabloFans clan to have a varied assortment of players, not only high Torment players.

The idea is to have a good percentage of people on every skill level, so that finding groups for farming is quick and easy. Hunting legendaries in a group doesn’t only benefit from the Strength In Numbers buff, but also allows you to trade items with others, so hunting for that specific Legendary could be a lot faster.

Regarding available playtime, we don’t necessarily want only players who are online 100 hours a week. Those will probably end up playing higher difficulties exclusively. The end goal is to have some variety in this area as well.

We want members who will actively interact with each other, and make good use of the clan functionalities. Players who are interested in playing in groups and interact with other DiabloFans members (via chatting).

If most (90%+) of your play sessions consist of farming on your own - because you prefer progressing at your own speed, following your own path, or simply because you can’t be tied up to a group 100% of the time (or whatever other reason) - then maybe just joining the DiabloFans community might be better for you.

Please reply to this thread using the template below if you are interested in joining the DFans clan:

Battletag: Link to armory profile: Preference for softcore (SC) or hardcore (HC): Average time available to play (hours per week): Preferred difficulty level:

You can still freely apply Evolution. It doesn't mean you won't be accepted.

It's just a general guideline for those who really don't enjoy playing in groups, or chatting with others. We just want to make use of the actual clan features, instead of just being a random bunch of people thrown together. We don't mind having a couple solo players though. It's just fine.

But make sure you do apply once the thread is up. Don't worry too much about these things, let us worry about it :)

My last 4 legendaries were from Goblins... before that I seemed to get a lot from destructibles (corpses, barrels, etc.)

I don't think doing chest/mother runs ever gave me anything higher than 1-2 legendaries per hour. So yeah, pure RNG =|

Mind what Bagstone said about applications. They will not be on a first come, first served basis. Post it when you can.

Also, no need to post any messages requiring to be reinvited in this thread, as these won't be used (we want to focus everything on a single thread).

Third, some of the more active people on the past 2 weeks, that we've seen forming groups and chatting, have a very high chance of not being removed from the clan on the wipe. The intent is not to remove the players who have been using the clan, just the majority of inactive, isolated players who are not really using the clan for anything.

    Quote from ErogeGamer

how active do you have to be ? lm on almost every day but l play self-find/solo play is my slot in the can gone now because l like solo play more then g-play ?
There's really 2 different questions there.

First "how active one has to be"? We're not going to limit the clan slots only to people who can play 100 hours/week. That is not the intent. We do have an idea of how active we think players need to be so that the clan doesn't feel "dead" most of the time. For example, someone that plays 1 hour every 2 weeks probably won't be very active and playing with other members, and if we have 100+ members like that, the clan would feel dead most of the time, right? So we're gonna try to have a good mix of players from different skill levels and different available play times, so that there's always a way for you to find a group.

The second question being "I mostly play solo... what will happen to me?" - this is a tricky one. After some internal discussion, we've come to the conclusion that, if someone plays 95%+ of their gaming sessions on their own (for whatever reason, because they prefer playing at their own pace, or follow their own farming path, or who needs to split their attention between farming and other things), and aren't really using the clan features to form groups or chat with others, then we are inclined to think this person would fit better in the DiabloFans Community, not in the clan.

We won't require that you're forming groups with the clan ALL THE TIME, that would be really stupid. Players sometimes wanna do their own thing, sometimes they want to play with other friends. But in general, the idea here is that we want the clan to be a great place for players to easily group up with others, even when their friends are not online. And we can't have that if 90% of the members are always farming on their own, can we? =|

Farming together is faster, benefits hugely from the Strenght in Numbers buff, allows people to trade legendaries, and is most of the time a more enjoyable experience that allows for some cool skill combos. So we really want clan members to make a conscient effort in playing coop with clanmates.

    Quote from Blaxter

Bla bla bla bla bla... It's gone now so I don't understand why people are still discussing about this rubbish.
    I'm glad it's gone too ;)^_^
    They're discussing because it's controversial...

It's something some people liked, and some people hated... some want it back, to see how it would fare with the new improved systems, some can't stand the thought of hearing the AH could ever come back (and don't want people to even talk about it)...

It's really just a thing we have to get used to. Yeah, sometimes it's beating a dead horse (and boy, the AH and BoA have been beaten to death these last couple weeks), but that's perfectly normal I guess?

Dude, shaggy, ffs just buy the expansion.

Ok, I get it, it might have some controversial design decisions. But deep down you know it's gonna be well worth your money and you'd probably going to play it for a a few hundred hours at least :P we all do, even the haters...

Vote by stating your opinion and doing it in a clear, polite, manner... hoping that a dev sees it and take that into account in the future... no need to refrain from having fun...

We hope to keep some of the more active members in. But even for people removed, they can just reapply and come back (or PM/whisper me in-game), so as long as you're active you shouldn't worry too much about it (because you'll be reassigned almost instantly).

The forum activity and registration is just a way for us to tie up the DiabloFans clan to the website, and have people show up here or have a place where they can put friends up to be recruited. It's also a way for us to control clan aplicationschronologically. That's the general idea, at least.
