I love how all of you guys are talking about hardcore like you are hardcore, yet whine and complain about PK and hostility ha.
Hostility just leads to never grouping for the more careful, you realize that, right?

More not in favor... I don't particularly care about it, but you want to consider this:

if you give HC players items with better stats, there will be the assumption that HC has it "easier" in terms of general content. This will diminish HC in the eyes of an SC player, if you ask me. Furthermore, it will drive some SC players to play HC, which will muddle the waters.

I don't think many of you know what viable means nor do you have any idea how I plan on getting to 60 and past Inferno aside from spending obscene amounts of time.
The term "rush" implies that you actually rush in the game itself (i.e., skip levels). One can rush with a lot of free time or little free time. I think that's what most of the people here are referring to: that you will progress through the game in a manner that is not cautious. And they believe it will gimp you in the long run, as do I.

"I will invest obscene amounts of time" is quite irrelevant to the rushing aspect. You can do so while playing very cautiously. And, obviously, with more time, you can die and re-run more often. Could this potentially mean you can get higher on the ladder with a more bullheaded attitude? Maybe. All I know is I won't respect it and not consider it a proper playing of HC. I like HC specifically because it discourages rushing like an idiot.

Or, you won't really be rushing. I.e., you'll be playing like everyone else except you have more time to play, which isn't really that interesting.

    So which one is it?

So we're trading dying to stupid lag for dying from bosses that you can't actually run away from like and idiot as you could in DII?

    I approve.

posted a message on What's the point in playing HC?
I am not a hardcore hardcore player (what the hell did I just do there?), but I do like playing it sometimes. One thing I like about it is that it generates a slightly different approach to the game, coupled with a different community. Hardcore players are less inclined to rush mindlessly and stupidly through the game because evil awaits at every corner. The game feels more real because watching your rear matters (although, a similar effect is achieved in games like Demons' Souls by harsh death penalties, not necessarily permadeath). You do not constantly compare how quickly you kill stuff and that kind of thing - your ability to survive is the most prized quality.

So, for me, it's a mix of changing the pace of the game in the minds of the players, and making the game feel a bit closer like you actually are that lonely and not-so-confident hero fighting hordes of demons that could literally kill you make you start all over again.

You confused me for a second there. I saw "Equinox" and was like "wtf, I didn't reply to this thread yet".

    Err...

Yeah. I'm just gonna quietly go through hardcore super carefully.

I always thought avoiding dying was more valued in hardcore than quickly doing something. Of course, if you can avoid dying quickly, that's even better, but I don't know.

Hard to say. My track record with games is too jumpy to make any predictions. It's quite possible I randomly quit in the middle, not because the game is bad, but that's just what I do, lol.

From what I've seen Normal is pretty good in DIII. In DI, though, we frequently started on Nightmare for giggles. Lots of exp and gold. :D

I do not trade for or buy any gear. I simple use what I find with that character (even if one of my own characters finds a good piece of gear I do not transfer it between characters).
    Wait, that's considered a challenge?
