Well, is it 1H or 2H? Cause 1H, that is pretty nice. 2H, not so much. (though, since ilevel 58 would be a level 57 weapon, that could be nice for that level as a 2H with no level reduction bonus)

    Quote from Ruppgu

Keep in mind... even if monster level 3 is what the current game is, your defensive skills are getting nerfed so level 3 will be harder than the current game. Unless of course, you aren't using those abilities currently or you're a WD which didn't really get any defensive skill nerfs :P
Nah, mobs will hit ~ 20-25% weaker through the board to counter that. Blizzard want to give us the option to "win the game" by playing through inferno (at least at lowest powerlevel) without having to use 2-3 defensive passives.

    From the ptr blue post:
Defensive bonuses provided by certain class skills have been reduced. To learn more about these changes and why they were made @ http://us.battle.net...en/blog/7155884

    Blogpost is stating:
    a) Reduce the effectiveness of select defensive skills
    B) Reduce monster damage by more than the mitigation lost by these skills
    c) Putting both changes together, players actually take less damage than before

As i posted somewhere else in this board, in summary this seems a bit counter intertuitive with implementing harder hitting mobs at higher/the highest powerlevel but we'll have to wait and see how this turns out. After all we're craving for an ongoing challenge (even with gear worth thousands of $) and i really hope that powerlevel #9-10 is exactly that and will last for a good while with no nerfbat coming in a couple of days.

You missed the point that Ruppgu made.

Yes, at Power Level 1, (baseline), enemies will do 25% less damage to us, and our defensive skills are weaker.

Blizzard blue post directly stated that a Power Level of 2 or 3 will put MONSTERS back to the strength they are in 1.0.4, while you still have the defensive skill changes of 1.0.5.

So, you now have the new defensive cooldowns, while they are doing the same damage they were doing BEFORE that change.

    Sounds good to me.

Instead of Inferno Elites/Champions only taking 65% of the duration of a CC, they will take the full thing on the first application, and subsequent ones will become progressively shorter in duration, until they hit that 65% mark (6.5 seconds un-ended CC), and be back where we are.

    This I approve of.

You call nerf cause you don't like the idea of having something taken away.

The thing is, it was never INTENDED to be this strong. It's a bug. They are fixing it. If it had intentionally been designed to be this ridiculously strong, and then they turned around on it, then they wouldn't have made such a large post regarding it. It would have been a "This is being nerfed cause it's too OP". They explained the mechanics of how the spell works, and why it bugged out.

    You say nerf,
    They say bugfix.
Guess which one is far more accurate?

Not to mention, X% Damage Convert to Life works WAY better for two-handers, cause it calculates on damage, not on hit. As a Barbarian thread showed a day or two ago, with a couple of the new Legendaries, that make MASSIVE damage killing blows, if you roll one with X% Damage Converts to Life, you can full-heal off of every kill for sure (the Barb showing it was getting 1.3mil damage killing blows. Even at 3% that is still a 39000 heal.).

And better Spirit Regen from Guardian's Path (since it gives +35% Spirit Regen with a two-hander).

    Quote from Loroese

I'm reasonably sure Blood Magic and Life Steal in general do not work for the hydra. I've ran around Act 3 a few times lately before and after the patch and my life regen tics never seem to change after I drop a hydra, and I run with 2.7% LS and blood magic. I still like the Blood Magic rune for orb and wand hits.
If you actually check the Known Issues List for patch 1.0.4, you will find this in the Combat section:
"Wizard - Hydra: If you have Life on Hit gear and your Hydra attacks the monster you will get no HP."

So it IS intended to work, and currently doesn't.

Loyalty points end when the cashier hands you your receipt for a $60 game. We should be happy Blizz is even bothering to fix things and take user feedback; unlike some game companies that drop a $60 game in your lap and say, "here".

The sense of entitlement with this game is unreal.

Not just this game, but most games. The majority of the vocal playerbase should be thankful we see anything at all more than bug fixes (and even that is subject to question with some games). But no, they will whine and cry cause "it isn't enough!".

Realize something: You are entitled to nothing more than the product that you paid for. Anything after that is gravy. Patches, updates, new fatures, on a F2P game is all BONUSES. You are not entitled to get a single thing from the company once you pay for the game. A sub-based game is different to an extent (basically your sub entitles you to have server access, but that is it. Again, content is at the dev's discretion, not your demands).

Hopefully people will understand this concept, but... people have let me down plenty over the past, and I think I need to stop classifying most posters on the internet as "people", it might make me less pessimistic to others.

posted a message on Can you imagine Paragon 100??!!
    Quote from teoteodore

What do you call a 100 Paragon Barbarian? Chuck Norris

Do you think with Paragon 100 that Diablo would be any tougher? Or will we be able to kill him with a gazillion-dps 'physical damage to attackers' buff by just standing next to him?

What happens when a just-turned-60 player co-ops with a Paragon 100? He'll need 'sprint' just to get to the boss before he dies.

I think Blizzard is counting on our eyesight being so bad after 3 years of ACTIII at 30 runs per day, that Diablo will be a challenge just to find.

Let me get this straight: you farm Inferno to get gear to sell to buy gear to farm inferno to get gear to ...

600% Magic Find? Even the urns will drop lvl63s!

    I'll glow

Better buy chains for your monitor, WW will throw it across the room.

We'd better get a 'jailer' cast or the bosses will probably run and hide.

1: MF is capped at 300% with the patch (375% if you got 5x Neph Valor).
2: As of right now, jars/chests/etc still not affected by MF.
3: Item level has zero bearing on Item quality (and vice-versa). More MF =/= More ilevel 63s. More MF = More Blues/Rares/Legendaries/Sets

No, they outright said that some legendaries are plenty good as it is. Helm of COmmand is one of them they specifically mentioned. Those are ARE fine, won't be buffed.

like the new changes but still doesnt solve their end game problems, i juts simply dont care enough to continue playing beyond killing diablo inferno.
Then you don't care about/understand the genre.

Why did you play after killing Diablo/Baal (depending if you had LoD or not) in Diablo 2? To farm more gear (and technically experience levels, but given that 1-98 = 98-99, that doesn't account for much other than GRIND). They was no end-game, except to farm. That IS the genre of ARPGs. Hack and slash to the end, and get to slaughtering faster and faster, farming more and more gear.

You seem to think there is supposed to be specialized content in some form of progression, like an MMO. Wrong genre.

OT: Very happy with all these changes. One question I hope gets answered: Will the buff to damage range for 61 and 62 weapons apply to crafted 62 weapons?

    Quote from luizdeh

LOVED the way it was when it started: very difficult, the way it was promoted to be.

Yes, you considered it hard. Blizzard considered it TOO hard for what they wanted. Blizzard's vision and yours didn't line up. They made changes, and because you had accustomed yourself to playing in that harder environment, the changes made to balance (note: not nerf, no matter how much you wanna call it one) the difficulty properly, made the game easier for you.

In your eyes: Original Inferno was challenging, post-1.0.3 was nerfed.
In Blizzard's eyes: Original Inferno was over-tuned, post-1.0.3 was better balanced.

And since Blizzard is the ones who get the final say, you either take it, or walk away. But it will never be reverted. It made that part of the game actually possible to progress in without having scored tons of gold in the first month when certain items were hotter than hell and paid your way through it. It made it so with enough farming alone, you CAN progress (though even now, still more likely to see people buy a few items to boost along if one slot or another has been picky).

The issue that still stands is: there is no endgame. Just by reaching 60 and finishing off Hell I feel like I'm done. Collecting gear for characters you're never gonna make is useless. Unless you farm in order to sell the gear/gold for real money, but is this a game or a job?

This is all Diablo 2 was. And Diablo. And Titan's Quest. And Torchlight. And Borderlands (which, despite being an FPS, is an ARPG too). And DarkSpore.

What do you want? Raid content like an MMO? I think you don't understand how the genre works...

I think this (the first of many) marks off ALOT of things the vocal part of the playerbase has been asking for, that was within reason at least.

I like what I see, alot.

Let's just hope this patch hits soon... like before Sept 18th. I got Borderlands 2 and then MoP to play at the end of September.

Just gonna let you know now:

Until Blizzard does patch 1.0.4, and makes the WD pets actually survive longer than a single hit in most of Hell and all of Inferno, it won't work. Their health doesn't scale at all right now, so they die instantly.

posted a message on This will make you want to play the Wizard
Been running this build myself, though similar playstyle all in all: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/wizard#WkYdXO!aTg!aaYaac

I do run with a shield, sitting at 18.5k DPS. I may try Wicked Wind in place of Spectral Blades, cause it does seem to be a little more area-covering, though I'd lose alot of overall damage from Arcane Dynamo (My Meteors go from 55-70k crits up to 110-135k crits with the Dynamo up). Or maybe try Wicked Wind in place of the Meteor. I dunno. But it does look useful.

I have cleared up to Act 3, but found the enemies just beating my face in mercilessly, and my gear SHOULD allow for me to run it with little issue (though my Crit is only a 15.5% chance).

    Quote from Ruppgu

There will always be bugs when a game is released these days. The number of bugs in D3 is pretty high though.. it's a bit disappointing. The most disappointing thing is that some of the major bugs are being ignored.

    * The fireball breathing birds can bug out and be impossible to target while attacking you the entire time.
    * Waller + mortar turns the mortars into melee range.
    * WD unable to pass through mobs while in spirit realm from spirit vessel.
    * Monsters still follow you after you enter spirit realm as a WD.
    * Frozen explosions will often instantly kill you as a WD even with spirit vessel off cooldown (man spirit vessel is bugged)
    * The hit detection on arcane beams being somewhat off
    * I'm sure there are more for other classes, I almost always play my WD

All of these issues have caused countless deaths and frustration for me... but they aren't getting fixed any time soon. Not to mention the extra loot from monsters, etc.

They are "being ignored" because they don't have a blue post on them? You know they'd need to hire more people just to "acknowledge" all the bugs then?

You might see the bugs as "this needs to be fixed". That fix might be a lot more trouble than it seems to be. I imagine their list of "bugs to fix" is lengthy, they are aware of them, and will fix them as time, and priority, permits.

Not to mention, most of them likely require a client-side patch.

The Arcane Sentry beams being off in their detection may be accounted for by latency/lag.
