Am I the only D2 PvPer left ? Am I missing something, they did promise us PvP, right ? There was arena matchmaking videos years before D3 was released ?
What happen with all of you PKers, zealers, conc barbs, BM smiters/hammerdins, where are you guys at, playing path of exile ? playing another game ?
Since the release of Diablo 3, I am waiting for PvP, just to be disappointed at every patch and announcements, brawlers is not PvP, its completely unbalanced, free for all only, 100% pay to win duels, simple as that, it wasnt like that in Diablo 2 at all.
What I ask is simple and it would bring so many PvPers back to Diablo (or am I really the only one? isnt PvP that kept D2 alive for so long and kept the economy strong ?)
They should add PvP gear or make sure the game is no longer pay to win, at least in duels, thats it, simple as that, thats all I want. Ofc PvP arenas, matchmaking, ranks, better duels, would be awesome as hell, but I cant ask much, they barely can take 1 hour of their time to implement the already made arenas, at least for brawling, or even balance the PvP just slightly.
I will buy the expansion because I like the story, I will PvE and see if the game is still pay to win or it will be fixed with crafted items, new legendaries, more legendary drops and the mystic rerolling a stat. Hopefully blizzard will open their eyes and hear us or I will need to remove that game who used to be the best game ever made out of my head and move on.
If I am not the only one left, speak up, we can make a difference, we can make a d3 forum thread and bump it every god damn day to make sure it stays on the top of all threads and blizzard might realize how important PvP is for us.
Much has yet to be finished, let alone revealed. I would bet my right hand (and boy do I need that) that there will be a focused attempt at a dynamic PvP offering.
Josh > Jay
Josh seems to "get it".
Toward PvP specifically, all that needs done is to have DPS values hacked to more tolerable levels to allow for players to be able to take more than one hit before death.

They already did this in Diablo 2 (even a different factor for melee and spell damage), so I was already wondering why they didn't do it this way. Maybe they don't like obvious choices.
It's becoming fast apparent to me at this late stage that Jay Wilson was a fuck up. I've never gotten into the 'hate Jay' banter, but it would seem his ideas didn't wash and there was a great deal of ego driven incompetence on his part.
Well they said they've been working on a permanent solution and funner gametypes rather than just deathmatch, so it could be announced at Blizzcon or maybe a few patches later. They'd have to seriously overhaul the way PvP skills work tho so it might just be taking a serious amount of time to do this overhauling.

As long as they do it, I dont care at all to wait, I've waited for this long enough to simply dont care, for me, d3 was never released.
PvP would make the game a lot better but i'm afraid games like DotA and LoL nowdays occupy the space of PvP rpgs and mmorpg... I expect some decent PvP love at some point, but no more then a arena and a patch to correct statistics.
What I really, really miss in D3 is ladder resets...
They've stated multiple times that D3 is first and foremost a PvE game and although they've not openly said it the current PvE model for the game clearly isn't working so naturally there going to focus on that before they do PvP...
I'm always for PvE over PvP, as that's the whole point of Diablo games. PvP is an add-on element for bonus fun. I'm sure there will be PvP announcements in the near future as there's currently a massive cloud of dust from the expansion announcement that's protecting Blizzard from the onslaught of public questions. We'll have to wait for things to settle just a bit before we get fed more info.
On topic, hell yeah I want to see PvP, in whatever form they decide to bring it to us. Doesn't have to be too glamorous or anything, but I hope they will balance it so it requires skill and time to master. Really hoping they share some news about this at Blizzcon.

I know some of you will hate me for this, but (as some of you might now by now) I really consider every minute of development time on PvP a waste. PvE >>> PvP for me.
However, I'm pretty sure you'll all be happy (and I'll be mad) at Blizzcon. I think the "Nephalem Trials" mentioned on the official RoS page sounds very much like PvP.

to me Neph Trials sounds more like a LAdder, or an endless dungeon they've been looking into. Trials seems to make me think you'll go through waves or levels of an endless dungeon and there will be a leaderboard as to whose gone farthest, shortest times, most gold earned, best item found, y'know something a bit more competitive but not PvP like.

Hm... imho, this "competitive" ranking of <whatever> would kinda go against everything they announced (to not turn D3 into a competitive or e-sports game). If Neph Trials would just mean some PvP stuff, like PvP tournaments with win/loss statistics (only that kind of ranking, not PvE related) it could very well mean what you're looking for.
I'm not sure though if they'll ever bring open world PvP back, or even PKing for that matter. By turning this game into a more casual game, PKing would not work in their favor and screw with many casuals they just won over. Same for open world PvP.
D3 is already a PK game, it's just you have to use the monsters instead of your own character skills. The last good one I saw was Act 2, last quest (kill Belial). There are no guards, NPCs etc, in the Bazaar, you automatically port into the Bazaar, and you can kite a bunch of wasps and lacuni into the Bazaar.
Neph Trials could be real PvP, but then they probably would have spelled it out. It's probably just a PvE challenge mode.
My personal opinion: I can't even imagine a scenario, even not limited by realism, in which PvP would be fun in diablo 3. Sure I had fun (for a few hours) killing my friends and my brother 10-15 years ago in the diablo setting. But back then, even playing with other people online was fascinating, regardless of what you were playing. Right now, it seems like a horrible engine/setting for PVP compared to other games that offer something similar, like dota1-2, HoN and LoL.
I don't mind them catering to the preferences of PvPers however, as I'm not selfish. But I admit that I would be very dissappointed if Nephalem Trials was a PVP arena instead of an endless dungeon, which - incidentally - I think is the best option for (noncommittal and "friendly) competitive play.

I would like competitive PVE as well, again, as long as its not pay to win or not too much pay to win.
