Yeah, all 15 characters I have do double duty as mules too. I have at least one stash tab empty so I can offload my inventory when I play a character and have to put it back at the end of that game.
Though, I do think that with some proper planning all players can get their extra stash tabs unless they play less than 40hrs per season.
I've just come to accept the situation. My guess is that the dev team needed to show their changes and ongoing work required with the game is successful and Seasons was the biggest addition so participation needed to be up there to justify to Blizzard management why the game needs to continue being supported. Whilst this isn't the perfect scenario, we at least have an option for getting more tabs. It could have been worse... we could have been stuck with just 5 tabs still.
And this is coming from someone with two D3 accounts so I have twice as much work to get my tabs unlocked.

Same for me. 15 mules. 1 semi-empty character to "play".

I have no choice but to accept it too, this is the way Blizzard wants it and at this point I think is unlikely that they will make a U turn. Either I bite the bullet and do it or just carry on without.
Said that I did not take into account this 'Rebirth' option that oldschool_2o4f suggested, that does make things easier. I am unsure when it was introduced but I had never noticed it until he brought it to my attention.
What does rub me the wrong way is getting these adjectives being thrown around willy-nilly... 'lazy', 'entitled'... well, neither. I just play the game in the way that Blizzard doesn't want it to be played: solo, non-season, and without being a mendicant.
As such I am reluctant to level a character from complete zero, which I have already been doing since vanilla days and farm the exact same gear I already have in non-season all over again in order to enable me to do what I am already doing: trying builds and killing demons.
It might be what the game needs to stay alive, it may not. It doesn't mean I have to like it either way. I might need to do it, but it will be one of those 'grit your teeth and get it over with' not a 'oh, all those people were right, this is really enjoyable, why I didn't try it earlier? I should have listened to the contemptuous and patronising c**ts.'
You enjoy playing the game the way Blizzard intended: playing seasons in group and begging left right and centre when your resources alone will not suffice. Splendid. You get rewarded for it era after era. Chances are you will still be getting rewarded for it until Blizzard shuts the servers down.
To be clear, I don't do "mules". So yeah, I want the stash tabs.
When I say I play whatever character/build I wanna play that would never entail emptying out a character's bag first so he can play, that'd be horrible.
My biggest vice is I have a full jewelry tab. I should never have that but I seem to hang on to too much jewelry.
My goal is to have a tab for each class for sets.
Materials isn't a huge issue. Nor is legendary gems (I've seen Bagstone's LGem tab, OMGawd)
Legendary complementary items is a bit of an issue... but lately I've been more intolerant of hanging onto stuff.
Would I play season without the "stash tab bait", not sure though.

Rebirth was introduced at the same time the extra stash tabs unlocked in seasons were.
TBH, leveling up a character from lvl1 isn't the chore that it sounds like if you set things up well. Join an active clan with knowledgeable players and the 1-70 experience can be quite fun when you do it in a group.
Haedrig's gift also makes getting back to higher Torment levels much faster and usually by P300 I have all 4 sets for the class I'm playing.
I pick classes I want to devote a bit more time to, usually because I've neglected playing that class in NS for a while.
Season 5, I rolled Sader. The Invokers set was revamped that patch so it was quite a fresh experience. Season 6 I played Barb. Never played with Raekors and I also set up a WW barb too for farming. Also completed my BK swords set in ancient. Play DH on my alt account in S6 as that class was easy to get the tab with.
This season, despite playing some DH already, I decided to roll DH on both accounts just to make getting the tab easier. And despite playing a lot of UE DH in NS already, I got the chance to find missing ancient pieces of UE, and also get my alt account an ancient Yangs, Nat Slayer and Manticore too. I'll also be trying out other builds like the N6/M4 and S2/M2 builds.
Next season, I'll probably roll WD on my main account. Arachyr is a set I've yet to play with properly and it has an easy set dungeon. It is also sufficiently powerful to get the tab. Alt account, I'll roll Barb... IK is another easy set dungeon and I'd like to top up on some Barb gear on the alt account.
Will I continue to play seasons after unlocking all my stash tabs? Probably not. I might get a powerlevel and do the first 4 chapters at the back end of seasons to get the portrait and cosmetic item but that's about it. This year has been an inconvenience more than anything to get the full set of tabs in my stash but I admit it's something different. I wouldn't want to play the hours I have this year though after my stash is fully unlocked.
If you cant be bothered to put in the effort required to get the reward you shouldnt get it. Not everyone deserves a participation trophy, its a weird idea in this society, but just sometimes you actually have to do something to get a benefit, and in this case blizzard is giving people the reward who create a brand new character, dont have any of their old gear, and work from scratch.
Its not gated behind anything ridiculously hard, its not even the reward for the last conquest (which can be tough) and you get a free set. Its easily acquirable in 20-40 hours of casual playing.
Its cool if you dont want to play seasons, but to demand you get the reward that people who are actually putting the effort are getting is hilarious.

This. I know I suck, but if I want it I need to step up my game and not whine like a baby on the internet (or the official Diablo forums *cough cough*) for free hand outs. It's a nice reward tier for the people who've really put in the time for this game to get good at it, and the great thing about it is that it isn't openly advertised so the people who aren't going to really get it aren't tantalized by it.
Due to my work and family schedule I very rarely manage to play seasons in a group. So I do it solo, and stash tab is not a problem.
Would I play season without the "stash tab bait", not sure though.
Play it for the cosmetic reward, gotta collect 'em all!

Yeah, I finish the season journey completely anyway. That "little" step from stash tab to Guardian has to be taken.
Actually, this season for the first time I will try to do solo the 1 hour campaign run through.

My son and I took a half hearted shot at that and clearly we had no clue what we were doing. We got half way through act3...
From my point of view THAT is the hardest conquest...
Just got my stash tab for two accounts. Bit over 2 weeks time but I was also on holidays for 4 days of it. NS player here proving it can be done in 40hrs or less if you plan properly and play efficiently.
But I don't agree with the snobs saying that NS players who don't want to do seasons don't deserve more stash space. C'mon, it's stash space... space that's needed if you were to hold all 24 sets, with different stats in key item slots and complimentary legs - probably more applicable to NS players. It is what it is but the tabs should be unlockable in both modes.
I am a casual player. Getting stash tabs wasn't hard and I didn't have to play a lot.
Last season the conquests were easy, I had a buddy who played so doing the 2 min rift wasn't too bad. Did it twice.
Anywho, I do agree that ns players need the space more and blizzard forcing you into season sucks but it's not that bad.
I originally was of the mindset of "I don't want to start over" but I also am at the point of ancient hunting or min/maxing stats on my gear. So doing this was a very nice change of pace and rewarded me with something permanent.
having a plan on gear also helps as far as what to upgrade.

The starting over part isn't that bad with Haedrig's Gift. For those who have Day 1 to devote to leveling up and gearing, you can be T10 by the end of the day. Day 2 definitely if you have the weekend free or after 12-15hrs for those who are casually grinding and don't get a powerlevel (10 if you do).
I also found it useful for min/maxing to do seasons... playing 40hrs with that one class seems to improve chances of dropping what I needed. Got tonnes of upgrades for my UE DH set up in that I now have all ancient UE gear, ancient hunter's wrath, and better DML to use when I get back to NS. Also found an ancient zoey's secret with dex, vit, AR and 9% leg affix roll.
Using this season to buff up my Monk's gear as it's quite lacking non-season. Picked the Monk to focus on as it's not gotten much love from me in the past.
How long you've been playing as opposed to how often you play is a factor as well.
If you've been playing since day 1 and you don't pay attention to/care about the latest greatest super duper efficient build, you may have a lot of neat shiny items in your stash....
All i can say is if blizz gives the people that don't play seasons the stash for gold when i have been doing seasons for it, i will personally quit playing it and delete all blizzard games period
Well, goodbye and good riddance, you elitist prick.
This sort of attitude is the bane of all online games. Another stash tab is not an achievement, it doesn't define you as a more worthy player or not, it's just a quality of life improvement that blizzard "abused" to give an illusion of a reward for playing the seasons. There should be another more meaningfull reward for those players that invest the time and effort in the seasons.
