I would love for them to implement a catch up systemsm better than just shards.
My idea would be a second vendor similar to Kadala that sells any legendary in the game for forgotten souls. You go talk to them and up pops a search window where you can search the name of the legendary you want to but.
Downsides and to throw in some RNG - they would be stupidly expensive (100-200 forgotten souls depending on the slot) and you have no say in what the item rolls.
Bad idea tbh. Removes rng aspect at all, soul of Diablo game.
I wish there would be some sort of bad luck ptotection, maybe like WoW rested bonus - instead of increased experience increases your magic find, or stacking buff after you got rare item increased chance for next item to be leg ir set.
But actually this is not the thread about low drop legs, its about set chance which definitely needs buffing.
Guys, I know it is wrong thread to ask, but crafted sets like asheara or aughild - where to get a recipe? Some folks recommend me to use Asheara instead of rare akkahn, does it mean recipe itself is a rare drop too but more common than those torment only sets?
I think it's too high. Shit should be ultra rare, as in, you better be lucky to get a full set in a years time.
I don't think people appreciate how rare they SHOULD be. Somewhere along the line, ARPG players devolved away from combat and are only concerned with green and orange beams.
Anyone crying about luck in this game are just making excuses. There are 3 factors to this game. Time played, Kill rate, and Torment level. Anyone who is getting more sets than you is either playing more, killing faster, or playing at a higher torment level. RNG is only a factor in the most extreme of cases. RNG begins to even out over time, and eventually you will have found every item 1, 2, 3+ times.
Secondly, there are far fewer set items than there are legendaries. That is one factor. The second is that items are this game are weighted. You may get a pair of boots, and it might be something like 15% chance of being Boj Anglers, 10% chance of being Firewalkers, 5% chance of being Ice Climbers, 5% chance of being Immortal King. This is just a made up example, but as you can see the chance of getting the top tier items is lower. Just the fact that there are 7 legendary boots to 1 set pair of boots for barb is a major factor in itself. This why these items seem more rare.
Given the above example, and given that all class sets are probably considered top-tier loot, and probably have the lowest drop chance is why they seem to be rare. The only low-tier sets are Litany, Wailing Host, Compass Rose, Traveler's Pledge, and Blackthorne's. You should expect to see these items much more frequently than your class set items.

I don't think there is much you can do but to farm stuff. But from my experience, plans drop very often. So often that I wanted to deprive their orange star of them. If the ones you need haven't dropped yet, don't bother, might as well start farming the legendary mats first. The plans will come. They're not torment exclusive either.

While I apperciate how rare the set pieces are. What I do not apperciate is however their drop system works. I play a lot, I know you do to Rope, see you on enough. I only seen Blackthorns twice,, no other set item have dropped for me since then. I am almost at 10000 blood shards spent and have not found one upgrade through Kadala. My friend logs on finds 3 pieces of firebirds in 30 minutes. He has not played in two weeks. I think thats what irritates people. While I dont think we should get fully upgraded T6 toons in one weekend. I do think something needs to be fixed to keep us coming back day after day.
Although I really do not think there is a happy medium anywhere. Things drop to much people complain. Things do not drop people complain? What do you do.
Lastly, I think people are forgetting about crafted sets. They are decent, they roll shitty just like drops too! I can do T2/T3 with just my crafted stuff and what I have found so far. There is always that.
My problem with the screwy set drop rate is that it's so wildly different for people.
Example, I play with the same 3 other guys every night. We run T4 rifts every night. 1 guy has yet to see anything but Blackthorns drop - not a single Demon Hunter piece. 2nd guy, Wizard, has a complete set of Firebird - COMPLETE - not cheating with the cache reward ring. 3rd guy has 5 pieces of Zunni Witch Doctor set and the ring - so 6 piece set bonus. And then there is me - I have looted more Blackthorns then I care to think about, and only 2 Crusader set pieces. My 3rd piece was actually looted by the Witch Doctor and given to me - so with the ring I have 4 piece set bonus. The same Witch Doctor also looted a DH piece and gave it to guy #1.
I am sorry - that is just plain stupid. I get RNG. I understand its the basis of loot for D3. HOWEVER, it needs to be more evenly applied across the player-base. No way in the world should it be so wildly different for the people playing the same levels, time sinks, clear-speeds, etc.
That is what my issue is -- there needs to be a more equal distribution of loot "luck", period. It is bullshit that one player can have 6 pieces and another has none. And it's bullshit that one player can loot so many class-specific set pieces outside of his own darn class.

I think trading is the answer. Tweaking the drop rates would create a flood. As you mentioned, some folks have all the luck *cough cough Requiem cough.
Raising the rates would still show us a disparity between lucky and unlucky. Allowing people to barter is the only practical solution IMO.
RNG is RNG, not to mention saying how many hours one plays doesn't really mean anything. It's all about efficiency. You could play 22 hours a day, but if those 22 hours are spent farming in a way that you could play for 2 hours with the same efficiency, then it doesn't particularly mean anything.
People should also understand that many of those people, especially the big streamers, with full set bonuses farm with lots of friends to feed them items.
I sometimes feel that they should make the game a little less RNG based though. Adding to my post above I would also mention that I tend to play with another friend who also plays a wizard. When he's on we play together, but I play a lot when he's not on so while he's gained something like 120 paragon levels since RoS, I've gained closer to 260.
So keeping in mind that when he's on, we play together and then I put in loads of extra time outside of that..... yet he has better gear than me.....
Again, RNG is RNG but that's the problem. RNG was negatively affecting the game so they added smart loot. Personally, I think they need to take it further and make more gear obtainable via predictable but time-consuming means so some of the stresses of bad RNG luck can be overcome by throwing time at the game.
You're getting into the realm of console fodder, to be honest. The PC ARPG genre should be an incredible time-sink. When we start talking about guarantees, removing RNG.....you're attacking the very heart of the genre and poising it for a massive dumbing down.
I'm not aiming this at you, rather a general statement; If a player doesn't enjoy the rigors of RnG, this is not the game/genre for them. These players are truly NOT welcome by core Diablo fans, they need to find something else, preferably a console game where they can touch every item in the game in just the first week.
Games of this nature are meant to be enjoyed for many many years of consistent play. Remove RnG and that goes away.

I feel you. A couple weeks ago, somebody linked a youtube video from Diablo 2 of somebody taking a camcorder to their PC screen to show off an item that they had searched for literally two YEARS for. That's what kind of game Diablo and others like it are.
That is the game. Giving legendaries some kind of assured drop chance would change it into something else... some totally different game. Something that is not what Diablo ought to be.
I've had rift runs where I can find 3 set pieces and then the next 20 rifts will only drop a few bad legs. I think the drop rate on sets is absolutely fine. Set bonuses can be what takes someone into the next T level, so they should be a little harder to get than a standard leg.
I agree that the set class item drops may need to be buffed a bit, but I believe that it's coming in 2.0.5 in the form of cache buff drops to include torment only legendaries. Within 120 paragon levels on my wizard, I saw only 1 set item drop (Compass Rose (useless)). Afterwards, I switched to my barb and got 5 piece Raekor set within a week...
Switched back to my Wizard, and crafted some set items to farm with. So far within the past week, I saw two drops. My VERY first tal rasha ammy and a blackthorne breeches.

I've played Diablo 2 since release (I still play it on and off even now) and Diablo 1 before it.
I AM one of these "core" Diablo fans,
But neither of the previous 2 Diablo games made me feel the way Diablo 3 does in terms of lack of reward for playing.
In an RNG based game such as Diablo, the key factor that should determine how well geared your character is... is how much time you put into it.
But when you put in massively more time (and in efficient ways) than the people around you but those people are still ending up much better geared it can start to drain the fun out of the game for you.
1) How is that any different than Diabo 2? The only sets you'd see drop on a regular basis were junk, far worse than Blackthornes.
2) I've explained many times, though people still can't seem to grasp the concept of why the loot hunt seems so boring in D3, despite sets and end-game legs dropping WAY more than they did in D2. We only have 2 [equipable] item types were searching for, sets/legs, and that's it.
NOT ENOUGH [equipable] ITEM TYPES. The monotony of hunting for legs/sets IS NOT broken up by finding charms, jewels, facets, runes, socketed whites, superior whites (bear in mind that the quality of whites doesn't matter in D3 like it did in D2, rendering whites in D3 as just another crafting mat), nor end-game caliber blues and rares. Damn near everything is just a crafting mat, even most legs.
LoD added a gazillion new equipable item types.
RoS added exactly ZERO.
When the rest of the player base catches on, maybe we can begat some change. Until then, people will continue to throw fits about BoA, ladder-only items etc.
very frustrating indeed.

about 120 paragon levels of ROS and Ive only found 1 firebird orb and one vyr boots
all torment play, all bounties / rifts
