I can't wait to play Mythos lol. I really wanna be a pale blue Satyr, they look so cool. I don't really like fire though, so I think I'll be a Red Hand which seems to kind of be like a necromancer. I really will get to be a cross between a necro and a druid! woooo
Diablo isn't really an RPG. It's more along the lines of an action-adventure.
While it has some aspects of that genre, it is missing some key elements, I'm not saying you can't call it a RPG, it is better labelled as Hack & Slash Action Adventure.
Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn, now that is an RPG, referred to by some to be the Best RPG of all time. I am not sure that is true, but it definitely ranks among the top in my book.
I personally am not a fan of HG: L Vs. Diablo (Vs. another game) thread, (I thought we outlawed these threads months ago?), mostly because I fail to see who you can compare a 3rd person Isometric medieval fantasy Hack and Slash Action adventure game set in a fictional world, with what is essentually a First person futuristic shooter set in our world (albeit in the future naturally).
They are two vastly different games, sure there are some similarities, chiefly, its creators, but as a whole they are very different. I would more associated HG: L with any other FPS out there. ANd yes I know it can be played in 3rd person, but that still doesn't make it any closer to Diablo.
I don't know a heck of a lot abut Mythos, so I can't really comment too much on it, heard it was a Diablo clone though, maybe it is maybe it isn't, I sure it has it's moments like all games, but since it is LOD (and thus by extenstion the Diablo series) that led me here, that game will always have a special connectation, I won't get from another game released after it.

Seems like im the only one who would go in this order
1. Diablo
2. Hellgate
3. Mythos
Everyone makes Hellgate out to be this terrible game whens its not really that bad. I mean sure, it had great potential and doesnt even live up to half of it, but it could definantly be worse. I'm currently playing it now and havent gotten bored yet. (notice i said YET haha)

Well, I could even talk seriously and personally about sex without saying something akin to, "My girlfriend and I have had sexual intercourse not once, not twice, but thrice. During these times I had inserted my penis in and out of her vagina and ejaculated accordingly. I gently sobbed afterwards while she held me in her arms. This has all brought us closer together."
I never played Hellgate, so I can't speak to that. I must say though, being an intense Diablo fan who has just transitioned to Mythos, Mythos is really impressing me. It has lots of similarities that remind me of the glory days of D2, and I think it has a potential to become as good as, or even better than, D2.
The real plus for me, that puts Mythos leagues ahead of Diablo 2, is the fact that it is still being developed and that the devs are really listening to player feedback. This close communication, and the time that the devs devote to listening to and acting upon what the players said, has led to implementation of many new things in the game (ie. new overworld, which looks amazing). Diablo has been lacking this for a long time now... playing Mythos, I find that it's really fun to be playing a game that is still expanding and growing.

No. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. No. NO. NO.
My opinion on your opinion.
I'd also like to point out that I've been in the Mythos beta since the near begining. I like the game a lot, but it doesn't come close to what Diablo is. As I stated in a previous thread, the lore and story in Diablo sets it leagues above Mythos. As of now, it's just doing random quest for random people. there's no real reason to do what you're doing, at least from the standpoint of your character.
True, that might have been a bit of an exaggeration, but it was kind of what I hope more than what I believe.... if that makes any sense.
I finally want a game that can replace Diablo 2, not because it is no longer good anymore, but because it is a bit too addicting. Haha, I have wasted many summers playing that game... I need one that I can trick myself into liking more that won't suck up as much time. Until Diablo 3 of course. When that hits, I will have no "real life".
Hellgate: London is like a 49 cent cheeseburger from McDonalds. It tastes great and you keep stuffing yourself with more, then when you are done you feel like shit and want to throw up.
I thought it was pretty sweet at first, although the storyline was terrible. I enjoyed mowing shit down with my terribly overpowered hunter (like 4 months from release) and maxed him out at lvl 50. Had a couple other chars in high 30's too.
Now I can't even think of going back to that game, when I think about it I get the same sickly feeling after leaving McDonalds and I want to puke. BLEH!
Oh, and Mythos is pretty fun too, lot of potential.
You can only go to about level 25 with everything still being fresh because lack of content, but I sincerely enjoy beating up level 30's in duels with my level 15 bloodletter.

---- And the evil that was once vanquished shall rise anew! ----
The game is going through so many changes and evolving so much. That if you had a chance to play the beta a month ago. It's going to be completely different on the next patch. They're implementing an overworld, crafting, more interesting quests.
Yeah I'd agree on that now definately, as when I first hear of the game around when it started closed beta testing, it seemed pretty uninteresting. Now that's it's later as well as looking at a more info, it seems better, and interesting, although still has some unappealing factors.
Considering that it's free, I may try it out on release, or perhaps even open/closed beta.
Well, Diablo II is a complete and finished product; Hellgate sucked; Mythos doesn't seem to appeal to me at the moment but it looks better than Hellgate, so:
Diablo II
Mythos
Hellgate

It's not that bad if it wasn't for all that hype. For me, it's not a lot different from Sacred, for instance.

4. shooting self in face
5. cutting nuts off
6. watching the whoopi goldberg show

Some big things have happened to Mythos and I've just began to start playing it again to check things out, I've had an account since early alpha, and part of me knew this game would take a turn in this direction so I've waited on it to give feedback.
In a recent news letter from flagship, they've stated that they rebuilt the game, from the ground up to be more expansive, cohesive, and seamless. They're calling this revamp- the Mythos Overworld.
"Previously, Mythos' dungeons and monsters were instanced off safe towns. The towns are still safe, but the world around them has grown to be more like that of a conventional MMORPG. Now players of Mythos can actually explore a fully realized persistant world, meeting and adventuring with other people outside of town."
"All this is available right now on our mythos test center. It's still in development, but if you'd like to try it out early, all you have to do is start up Mythos and select "Mythos Test Center" from the login screen's dropdown menu.
Thats the jist of what they were talking about, the games completely changed from a straight up dungeon crawler to an open world mmo, which is pretty need in it's perspective, again it's totally free to play and is decently fun to play around with.
~ Have a good one guys goin to check out this new stuff.
Mythos was really fun while I played it. The only reason I stopped was because I have a x1300, which can barely render HDR, and Mythos' HDR doesn't have an option to be turned off. My gameplay was really choppy. However, the actual game is great. I think it will take at least 2 weeks of your time.

It's the decisions you make when you have no time to make them that define who you are.

to bad they dont re do hellgate. personally i loved the IDEA of hellgate. kind of like the matrix thing where they are rebelling and staying hidden and go out occasionally to fight the masses and own them with awesome skillzzzzzz, and hellgate SEEMED pretty cool but when it gets down to it who wants to play a game where your so confined? its just not fun that way, especially since games like wow have literally opened up worlds for us to explore

After playing around with the newly rebuilt mythos 'mmo', I'm liking it and actually it would of been pretty sweet if diablo 2 was like this, hell if diablo 3 comes out built like this- w/ a better built game engine the game will be insanely awesome, and I will just sell all my previously owned PC games on freakin ebay.
~Basically diablo 2 with instanced towns(safe zones w/ traders an what not) an open world gameplay outside of the hubs where you can meet an play with people. I'm hoping later content will turn out to be dark an gritty and evil'esc.
