I agree strongly with the last comments from Phrozen and Zhar. Good job. Phrozen especially sums up how I feel. I'm on here a lot and I know whose posts I should read, and then those who usually do not have much of anything to say. Their post count means nothing to me. Nor does mine. Although the little titles are fun to get as Phroze pointed out.
In fact, this brings me to a broader realization. None of the little trackers on this forum dictate how I percieve people. Not the post count, reputation, title, or experience level. You could have the most posts ever or the most rep ever and still be a total idiot in my opinion from what I have read. So in other words, none of the trackers can ever compare to seeing the personality, intelligence, and views of a poster IN a post.

that's because nobody invented a reliable way to measure the personality and essence of people... only the human brain is capable of doing such thing... and you only get a partial view of the people you talk to here... that's as good as it gets...
Therefore, post count means nothing to the regular members because they are not trying to garner a status outside of a REAL reputation. I would imagine that those with very low post counts such as newer members might feel they need to get their post count up because they see people with such high post counts and expect that their opinions are noticed far more than that of the new user. But that simply is not so.

I take Nektu as an example of high post count, good quality posts and regular spammer
he joined the forums late december last year and he has a great real reputation in here... though he does spam...
I think that the chat and games forums help getting the regular users to know each other... if the only thing we ever talk about is diablo we wouldn't be a community, we would be just a bunch of people that toss their opinion about one game in a forum...
As you can see I do not have very many posts, but most of my posts, but for maybe one or two of them have had a paragraph or more, and not spam. I care little about post quanity and more about quality. I don't want to be seen as someone who spams his way into a reputation, if being hated or looked down on is the price. I have been a part of Diablo fans for over a year now, yet I have such a little post count. This is because I visit nearly every day and look at the blue posts and the news posts. I post where I want and when I think I should. If I read all the way through a thread and it's replies and see that everything is said, that my feelings and thoughts were voiced, I don't bother posting. It's that simple.

Pointing out paragraphs as a means to judge you is still saying "look how much I post!" lol. I know it was unintentional, but it was a funny little contradiction I spotted.

Yeah sorry didn't mean paragraph, just meant it's hard to post spam in length and sentences rather than something short. Length takes time, spammers don't take time, or else there posts would contain more than spam. Get it? :P.

You know I have to say that I'm against you on this one Mars. For some reason, I pretty much stay away from every single spam thread. Maybe that's why my post count is so low for how long I've been here. I prefer to talk about real topics, like DIII news, upcoming video games, nostalgia threads, or helping people with PC's (which is tough cuz nobody is posting in the same place).:boom:
As for the rep and experience rating systems, I don't really care about them. I love the way that they will help many people figure out who are the "important" people on here, and I applaud everyone for coming up with those ideas. Except that I still have no idea how to raise my green bar in the xp rating. But when it comes right down to it, I still just see people as people, and I either like them and their posts, or I don't. And every once in a while, a spammer will shock me with a great post.
I agree with Sixen. This \/ \/

Most of my posts are spam. Its fun to talk to people you don't know about random things.
I would much rather post on diablo related topics, but there is very little diablo news to talk about. When Diablo 3 comes out, or when they at least give another big piece of news, I want to be involved in discussing it, but for now I'm just enjoying the other options this forum has to offer.
@ Archie: That's why I would not count spam as post count. It would make more respectable members able like you show out of everyone else. I personally believe that I don't deserve my number.
@ Huck: Do you have a problem with me? Because your attitude shows it so please say if you do.
@ HungryHippo: Wait so do you agree with this or not?

For me, posting on diablofans is simply a means for passing the time when I'm troubled by a particular problem with the wiki.

I'll make a thread about it in the staff forums for further discussion
