The first stroll through the catacombs, I can still remember the music and the uneasy feeling, and then the first time a giant rhino lunged at me and scared the sh** out of me.
I've never known what that's like. I've never played a sorcerer, and never put a great deal of points into Magic for my warriors or rogues; just enough to earn a couple-three levels of chain lightning.

That spell was just insanely powerful. There was no balance with that spell. But it was so glorious to use.

I think one of my characters is strong enough in the magic to use a golem scroll, but Apocalypse is way out of my league.
I may have to break down and start a sorcerer. I've never been big on casters, though.
i loved using apoc, with the arch-angles staff of course, then even using the rarest item in the game(it was rarely duped) arch-angles staff of nova, and saying i hack and when they say im using a staff to make the nova just show them my staff of apoc lol
I remember the first time I tried to lure all the monsters on lvl 15 to laz's chamber and take a screen shot. I got pretty close to doing just that and then made a portal and escaped to town. The next fellow who entered the game didnt heed my warning to stay our of t he portal and spent the next hour tring to get his items back.
i liked the quest that one demon gives you, to get him an item or something, but then he turns on you when you return.
Also, one time some guy came in asking for "Diablo's Soulstone" so my friend and i kept putting up town portals on top of fire walls, and telling him that i had the soulstone, but the soulstone was controlling my character. Usually i'm not the type to prey on the ignorance of other people, but it was way too funny, because we thought HE was the one messing with us at first, until about the third time he came through the portal trying to get the soulstone from me. Even after i explained to him that soulstones are only in D2, he still kept trying to come down to us over and over.
By the way, if that person happened to be any of you, then you have permission to kill me on sight in D3. (hahaha) No, just kidding, i'll still fight back

Stay.
You don't always know where you stand,
'Till you know that you won't run away.
There's something inside me that feels...
Like breathing in sulfur.
I'd have to say my fondest memory of Diablo/Hellfire was playing the 2 level demo over and over and over until my character was over level 20. Fun Fun.
Then, there was my first venture King Leoric's Tomb. "Prepare yourself mortal!" If I remeber correctly I died on my first run through, and was thoroughly pissed when I realized I hadn't saved since the middle of level 1.
Then there was the masses and masses of skeletons in the Chamber of Bone. This was before I knew how useful firewall could be. All I can say is thank God for the door trick.
Next was the book that opens The Halls of the Blind. "Vision milky, then eyes rot." Best read in the entire game!
I remember the first time watching the cutscene when you entered Lazarus's area and asking "Is he black?" If anyone knows the answer to this do tell.
After that, was the first time I ever saw the Immolation spell from the expansion. Far more fun than even Apocalypse.
And last was killing Ne'Krul and seeing "Book of Apocalypse" drop.

That depends on your definition of black. Being that he's from the Kurast area, and that seems to be akin to a Middle Eastern area of Earth, I'd say he's more brown than black.
Lol Diablo1 was able to punish people that didn't open every door and chest by keeping content from them though. Very sly
Well, I am going to run through the game for good old time's sake, this time I will try to take a Sorcerer into Nightmare and Hell difiiculties. If I figure out how to unlock them, I think it had something to do with playing over LAN to unlock it on Single Player for that character... Thats how you get past lvl35 easy btw And its supposed to be ridiculously hard.
Ferret, all you need to do is install the Hellfire expansion and then you'll have access to all 3 difficulties. I believe the minimum level restrictions still apply. Oh and don't forget about command.txt to unlock 2 additional classes, 2 quests, and lan play.
For those that don't remember create a text file called command.txt in your hellfire folder with the following single line in it (each word should be seperated by a single space):
This may not unlock everything immediately, you may have to play around with the order of the words to make everything work (I had the hardest time with multitest). Also, if you want to get the auric amulet (the one that allows you to keep 10,000 gold per stack) get rid of the cowquest word. That quest replaces the one you get from the farmer, who gives you the amulet.

Does anyone remember how cool the rock in The Magic Rock quest sounded when you placed it in your inventory?
Yes. I also liked the sound of the Blood Stone and Arkanas valor.

We were all running around with portals opening every 5 seconds, and dropping Res scrolls everywhere,
So Thrilling, Such good Times....
