It honestly doesn't spread anywhere near as much as I hoped it would.
Apparently it also kills stuff. Could be pretty useful to have wood around your base to light it on fire when those weird guys come or something.
But it gets the job done. I can kill the trunk and light the tree and no need to deal with all the green stuff.
The annoying thing about trees though, is that part of the wood will just stay on fire forever until you cut it down. The leaves however... none will survive.
Victory! I gotta try that, I hate cutting down my wood only to have 43,000 leaves still hanging around in the air.
PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.
Supporting big shoulderpads and flashy armor since 2004.
Yeah, the tree trunk is reasonably easy to get rid of. It's the leaves that got to me. I spent about a day just clearing out this rectangular area, getting rid of all the trees, filling in the holes with dirt, and surrounding it with cobble. Now I think I'll build a cobblestone wall around the whole thing. I am still not sure what I am going to do with it. I have a mine entrance in the middle, lol.
Omfg I found gold. And lava. I cut through to this humongous automatic cave first time I ever found gold or lava lol.
You can also create eternal flames by surrounding a piece of wood with stone on all four sides.
Oh! Oh! Oh! I have a question!
If I put a 1x3 row around my building area, like this:

And I put that flush with the ground, that should stay on fire forever, right? And that would keep Zombies, Skeletons, Creepers, and Spiders away from my house, right?

I was overjoyed the first time I found gold. I was like "HELL YEA!"
And remember, it's BUCKETS OF LAVA! Hahaha.
Also, I was like "She double posted" then I checked the rules, and they changed it so it's not against the rules. Lol.
@Equinox - wait until you find diamond. Just make sure you use an iron pick on it. And unfortunately gold is pretty much pointless. It is worse than iron.

Can I make pretty yellow blocks from it, though?
Speaking of preventing creeps from entering your area, I just discovered fences. I originally used them to block my farm from critters but it keeps the creeps away, too, since they can't jump over (nor can the open doors). Notch should consider creeps that can actually destroy stuff/use stuff; granted, those fences are pretty sturdy...
Notch has Creepers, which leave huge holes when they blow up.
Um, only when you're there... and only if they choose to activate. And for that to happen you need to be close to them. Unless you do it on purpose, with a fence you're safe.
So I left Minecraft working on my computer for about an hour. As you should know MC eats a lot of resources.
I came back and my computer crashed, took an extremely long time to load... and all my worlds got deleted. Lol.

Although I'm trying this now because I actually want them to die and not just stand there...

Makes from some fancy blocks, good luck building a whole house out of it though.
