Not flaming, just a friendly reminder.
You guys, it's only in beta phase... not release.
Many things will change, such as:
- Weak items/skills/passives becoming OP
- OP items/skills/passives getting nerfed (but in reality, "fixed")
- Costs will fluctate
- Drop rates will fluctuate
- Undesirable builds will become desired and vice versa
- Some items/skills/passives will still be very niche
Just take 2 seconds to think about things before you post.
Thank you. Carry on.

OptimusPrime posted a message on RoS anxiety dreamearly this morning.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
I was in act 5 and I was trying to enchant a piece of armor and then I got attacked by a pack of reflect mobs. When I started trying to hit the keyboard keys with my left hand I quickly realized that my keyboard was over by my right hand and askew. So I tried to move my character away by using the mouse, but realized the mouse was not by my right hand but by my left. What was going on here?!
And then I saw a Server message that said "if you do not play the game at all times, you will have your beta key revoked; even if you stop playing for a second."
So I frantically tried to click with my left and button mash with my right, I couldn't stop, not even for a second! Then giant leaves blew up onto my desk and got in the way of my hands hitting the keys and moving the mouse. Why were there leaves on my desk - why was my setup all wrong - why would Blizzard not let me play?!
And then I woke up. Yelling.
My wife and dog stared at me like I was crazy. I then realized it was a dream. I was dreaming. I didn't even have a beta key for RoS.
I told them everything was fine, I was just dreaming. I started to lay my head back on my pillow and then suddenly thought: what if the dream I had was my subconcious telling me that I just got an email with a Beta invite from Blizz.
I knocked my wife and dog out of the bed getting to the nightstand to grab my phone.
No Beta invite.
Sigh. I got up and went down to my computer to watch other people play on Twitch because I sure as shit was not going to try and sleep in that bed with an angry wife and dog. -

That sounds pretty cool. I suspect the reason why they haven't added anything more than kill X amount is because all the cool different types of challenges were meant for Nephalem Trials. BUUUUT, since those have been put to the side right now (and Blizzard said they added a bunch of the NT challenges as just events around the world) why not spice up Rifts a bit? I love the thought of Rifts as they are right now (obviously not in beta so I can't tell if they'll get boring or not), but I'm not against adding different types.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
Some quick ideas;
Rift variant 1. 'Normal' Rift. Kill X amount of monsters to spawn Rift boss.
Rift variant 2. 'Collapsing' Rift. Smaller number of levels (think 3-5 at most), large tile sets. You have 5 minutes to find the already spawned boss before the Rift collapses.
Rift variant 3. 'Speed' Rift. Unlimited levels, 5 minutes to haul ass. Each subsequent level grants a tiny-moderate boost to MF / GF / XP, but is blocked by a boss. Each boss gives less treasure than a regular Rift boss, but still good loot.
Rift variant 4. 'Tiki Torch' Rift. Spawns one giant, more open level. Find all 4 tiki torches, light them and fight your way to the special treasure chest that spawns. The cool thing about this level is you can either try to speed through it, or kill most of the baddies first. The baddies left over after you light all torches become empowered.
Rift Variant 5. 'Empowered' Rift. Random number of levels ( think around 5), the boss is spawned at the end of the last level. The more baddies you kill, the more MF / GF you achieve on the boss kill. Once you leave a level you're locked out of it.
Rift Variant 6. 'Luck' Rift. (now we're getting into more silly rifts, but still these might be fun haha). You're teleported into one big room with the Boss already spawned in the middle. He's trapped however, and clicking the enchanted orb will release him. Before you do that however, why not test your luck on the 50 + treasure chests circled around the room? Each one has a small chance at some loot or gold, a slightly bigger chance at some sweet DPS / XP / MF / GF buffs specific for killing the boss, a chance to buff or debuff the boss, and a chance to receive debuffs yourself. Out of the ~50, you can only open 10 before fighting him. Eh? Ehhhhhh? =D
So these were pretty quick (and sorry to hijack the thread OP, just got all excited) but I'd like to see if anyone can come up with anything else that would be fun =D To restate myself; I think Rifts are pretty awesome as is, but some spice couldn't hurt. -

Hey guys,Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
Just wanted to share what I think would make the new Rift system stay fresh for longer. Apologies if these ideas have been said before, I don't read this forum all the time.
Currently as has been pointed out, you have a random number of levels (upto 10). You have the same objective each run, kill X amount of mobs and then kill the Rift Guardian.
If, as others have pointed out, you have accomplished this by say the 3rd level out of 7.. where is the incentive to explore the rest of the rift? The efficiency mongers will abandon the rift and start a new one as soon as the boss dies and on the surface of it, you can't really blame them.
I think it would be better to rework the "Kill x to spawn boss" mechanic.
Keep the meter, filling it once will lock in the spawn of the Rift Guardian. But the Rift Guardian will only spawn on the bottom level of the rift. You want him? Go get him.
If you've filled the bar once have another bar start up. The point of filling it will spawn Resplendent Chests or Goblins or a rift cache that has a chance of Legendary items at the stairs to the next level. Fill that one?
Well you must have scored a rift that has a lot of levels, this doesn't happen all the time, you feel excited that you get so much bang for your buck out of 1 key... The bar is ready to be filled again this time with (insert awesome reward that I haven't thought out yet).
Point is... you can do the bare minimum, kill what is required and rush to the boss if you really want to.
But to give some sense of purpose to the deeper rifts I think the incentive has to be increased.. the carrot needs to be dangled infront of the player's nose. Otherwise people are just going to ruin this promising game mode with "GOGOGO EFFICIENCY" type behaviour.
Thoughts? Thoughts on rewards or other incentives if you like this idea or state why you don't -

Sooo no competitive aspect, no skill based gameplay, no trading interaction with the millions of other players, no pvp.
Who wants this exactly? I can see that some casuals that just wanna beat the story mode once or twice are ok with that, but for all the long time players, this can not be enugh, right ?
I want that. I want a hack'n'slay game with lots and lots of items. What you describe is a different genre. -

Zhar posted a message on Wasteland QuestA scraping sound rouses you from your sleep, stealing what few hours of rest you are able to get these days.Posted in: Roleplaying
You know what it is, you don't kid yourself. Unlike those who died in the early days of the catastrophe, you've been able to easily cope with the changing conditions. What that says about your personality, you'd rather not know. You chuckle at this realization.
The scraping continues as you are lost in thought, getting progressively louder and more violent. Do they know I'm in here? You ask yourself, wondering if your hiding place wasn't quite as secure as you had thought. You shift around in the trunk of the old battered car, reading yourself to attack if their rotting brains somehow remember how to work a handle. Thank god they're dumb you think to yourself, silently drawing your knife. You give your sidearm a loving pat, a habit you've gotten into whenever you decide not to use it.
The scraping abruptly stops. Silence outside. No shuffling, no moaning, no anything. Several minutes pass before an ear splitting howl sounds directly outside of the trunk, and the monster sprints off. You wait what you think is an hour before popping open the trunk. Nothing outside, the coast is clear.
You scamper out of the trunk, back into the desecrated cityscape of downtown Miami. You are immediately greeted by the warm sun, which sits at the 11 O'clock position in the sky. You note this, and figure that you have time to scavenge for supplies today. While the city was picked over in the early days, much of the population was wiped out and there are countless abandoned houses, stores, and hotels that still hide supplies for the inquisitive survivor.
You quickly sheathe your knife, and give your Glock another loving pat on the handle. You sling your old Kalashnikov over your shoulder, thanking the sturdy Russian engineering for keeping it in working condition even though you haven't found ammunition in weeks. Your backpack is last, and you do a routine check to ensure that you have everything.
Inventory:
Food, 5 days
Cast iron pan
2 lighters, one partially full
Flashlight
11 meters of rope
5 metal spikes
Rubber mallet
Folding shovel
28 9mm rounds.
Sewing kit
First-aid kit, complete with antibiotics
With everything intact and accounted for, you quickly brush your tangled brown hair, readjust your leather jacket, shoulder your backpack, and survey the area around you for any good locations. You are in the downtown core, which is largely abandoned. You see several zombies in the distance, but they don't seem to take note of your presence. Eyes must have rotted out by now, I'll be sure to be quiet around those ones if I can you think to yourself. You've had to get physical with the risen several times in the past, thanking the nature of the virus each time you have been bitten. From what you've figured, the virus only activates upon the death of the infected. Sadly, this means that you are an unwilling carrier waiting to expire from natural, or blunt-force causes.
To the north is an old strip mall with several stores. Most stores of note have had their windows smashed out, such as the gun shop, mini grocer, and sporting goods store. The pet store, health foods store, and hardware store seem relatively untouched, though the doors are missing from each.
To the west is the police station and the jail, you have a feeling that it will be picked clean, but you may find places that have not yet been touched.
To the south is an old apartment complex. 7 stories high is all you can note from this distance, you have no idea how many apartments are on each floor.
You do not know what is to the east.
Of the various local factions, you know that the police station used to be the home of the gang of lawmakers that frequented this area. You haven't heard much of them since arriving in Miami, though it has only been 2 weeks since you got here.
You know that a small gang of raiders makes their home somewhere in the suburbs past the apartment complex, and you have heard estimates of their gang being 4-8 in size from other passing survivors; the honest wastelanders often pass information whenever possible.

As we all know, Diablo 3 will come "soon" and people are already geting
ready for it by starting clans / guilds and player groups.
I would have loved to play with all the people who live across seas
ie. Usa, Australia, etc... But i simply cannot.
I will be starting a clan with friends when D3 will come, but nothing is official and final yet.
I think that whoever lives in Europe should consider joining the European clan that
will be starting later on this year maybe, but more probably in 2011.
I am not claiming the leader spot or anything like that.
I am simply making this thread for players to suggest things and have their
voice heard on issues concerning a European D3 clan / guild.
This clan can be an official diablofans.com thing, and it could be independent.
So, Eu players unite!
-Are you, as a Eu player, interested in joining a European diablofans.com clan?
-Do you already have plans for a Eu clan? if so, tell us about it.
-What do you think the name should be?
-Do you like the idea of having a Diablofans.com clan? maybe we should get our own website and forums?
Ps. I did not talk to any of the admins / owners of this site about the diablofans.com european clan.
So as for now, these are all speculations, hopes and wishes.
Tell me what you think.

I hope they will release a 1.13c and d

I have a newer post... in page 5. Now tell me that "Personal reasons" do not qualify so i can get the fuck out of this thread for good. FFS.
