posted a message on One major positive of the open Beta
Upon reading the system requirements of Diablo I realised that my computer wasn't going to meet the basic requirements (I have a 4 year old HP laptop with a 8400m gs graphics card, 2gb ram), but once again the old war horse is fighting above its weight.

I've been meaning to upgrade for some time, but honestly it runs fine. I didn't even think it would let me play at all, yet I defeated the SK with all characters and only had a framerate issue during the 4 columns fight before the SK.

Possibly later in the game my computer won't be able to hack it, but I am pleasantly suprised.

I don't even know if I will upgrade now, I was only going to do it for Diablo. I almost dropped $2000 on an Alienware 17x, just for Diablo (I require a laptop beacause I live in Japan and travel a lot).

Anybody else running on a system below recommended requirements?

I even upped the graphics to max and it was playable, no choppiness, just slow.

Honestly, I think the thing is that you're not a child any more. Nostalgia is king. You're comparing what you loved when you were younger to what your pessemistic and more intelligent older self deems fun. I suffer a similar problem to you, but I'm an optimist. Just assume it's going to be great, who cares if it's not the best thing ever, it's only a game.

I'm looking forward to that imersement I felt when playing D2. I remember sitting in my Chemistry class excited about getting home so I could start a new Palidin. I yearn for that engrossment again of getting sucked into the artificial world.

Hey all, If I post I can check the GMT time :pirate: . I'm in Japan, so I always get confused when they say this time or that. I'm feeling the release date announcement is just around the corner, the money for my new gaming laptop is burning a hole in my pocket.

I give it until Friday for some serious information, otherwise I'm buying a PSP Vita and getting my Final Fantasy on to placate my gaming needs for the near future.

Do you guys think I should hold out until the new Nvidia GPU's come out? or buy now?

Man, I started watching The Last Samurai recently after moving to Japan, and turned it off quickly. What a terribly cliched movie, it's just cookie cutter bullshit.

If you're not intersted in picking up unidentified legendary items, then I think Diablo might not be the game for you. Pretty much the entire point of the game is to collect loot, so at least the player will inspect an item before deciding if it is valuable or not for him or his companion.

posted a message on A Question about Regions
Hi all, I was wondering about digital copies and their region. I currently live in Japan, and will be here all year so I will be purchasing D3 as a digital download.

Will I still be able to access the European or NA servers? I ask this because I used to play D2 sometimes in Korea and all the item info was in Korean. Will the language be localised or can I adjust it to my preferred country and language?

Yeah, I heard they were going to give us some kind of gallery too.

I just thought it was an interesting possibility for hardcore players, I'm far too scared to play HC, I don't think I could handle losing so much time investment, I most definitely would be tearing the sockets out of the wall if I was about to die.

I'm sure Blizzard have considered this, we'll have to wait and see.

I've never played an online only game before, but could you simply pull out your LAN cable to save yourself from death as I believe data will be stored online? This is more specific to hardcore players.

How will the online data storage work? Will the server continually save your progress? I ask this because my internet drops out every now and again, so I don't want to lose my progress. Will the game shut off if your connection fails? I assume this is the case if it's an 'always online' game.

posted a message on Gaming laptop advice needed
    Thanks for the reply.

Battery life is not important for me as I will basically use the laptop as a portable desktop because I live abroad most of the year. I heard MSI are pretty good, but I don't know if I can buy them in Japan.

Although I am buying a laptop for D3, I want one that will be good for a few years. I realise D3 will be pretty easy to run compared to some games, but it's always nice to have power to burn for the future.

My main concern is for the next gen GPU's and processors, it doesn't look like D3 will be out anytime soon, so I'm sure they'll be around by then, unfortunately.

posted a message on Gaming laptop advice needed
    Hi guys,

I'm looking in to buying a gaming laptop over the next few months. I have a budget of around $1500-$2000 so I want a good one.

My main dilema is that same as every tecnology purchase, should I buy now or wait until the nex GPU's come out or until the Sandy Bridge processors come out?

I'm not very upto date with technology, so any advice would be much appretiated.

I am pretty much buying the laptop for Diablo, so I'm willing to wait until around the release date, I'm not holding my breath as of now.

I live in Japan, which is a possible problem, I can buy the Alienware 17x r3 at my local giant tech centre so this is high on the list, but I think the R4 could be coming out in the not too distant future?

    Thanks in advance.

posted a message on D3 not handled by GRB in S.Korea today
Would it be naive to assume that there are Blizzard employees posting on this website under different screen names? even if I had a small business I would devote some of my time to positive PR via anonymous forum activity, this is a major corporation we're talking about with PR divisions.

Also, it would also be naive to assume that a major distribution problem is not going to take resources away from releasing the game. That is a stone cold fact, they don't have unlimited resources.

    Takes tinfoil hat off.
